So we booked this hotel with some reservations based on reviews. We figured we would give it a try. The bones of the hotel have the potential to make it a beauitful resort. It really needs to have some TLC done to it.
The double room was a 3 star room. The bathroom kind of grossed me out a bit as it looked dirty but that was more from the tile grouting turing black. The bathroom occasionally would have a sewer odour in it. We would have to close the bathroom door or it would come into the room.
The view was by far the best we have experienced. At night you could hear the waves hitting the shore.
The beach was amazing... snorkleing was great and we always found a chair. Even when it was busy it was not bad. It was enjoyable to see the local families spending time with every generation out there in the water.
The food was where we really struggled. It catered to the local clientele. That was fine but we found we often did not want chicken stew for breakfast lol. The selection tripled on the weekend when the hotel filled up. During the week we had to leave and go into town to get a better meal. Not saying the food was bad just not our taste and with little selection we were often hungry.
Staff was really friendly at the hotel and found the locals to be helpful.
I would think twice before travelling with Air Transat again though. They had the rudest flight attendants we have encountered. Also we had a "brief" stop in Saskatoon before heading to Winnipeg. The problem was we had a passenger that they assumed left the plane. After 1.5 hours of the flight crew counting people on the plane they suddenly found the passenger. Everytime they counted they got a different number and no one ever seen anyone reboard the plane. Several asked the flight attendants but they brushed us off. Not what tired people coming back to the cold want to deal with.
We would definately return back to Manzanillo but next time will be to Barcelo.

Tesoro Resorts
Manzanillo, Mexico. Jan 24 through Jan 27, 2013
This was my 7th visit to this Hotel in 3 years and will be my last. This Hotel was at one time a 4 Star place, well what was isn’t what is anymore.
As you walk through the front doors, yes 4 Stars, beautiful, sparkling white walls, smiles, lots of smiling faces just what you would expect. Walk down to your deluxe ocean view room, slip the card through the lock and walk into, WOW the smell of the ocean? No the smell of mildew and mold. Full blown air conditioning, and open sliding doors with a good ocean breeze, Mildew and Mold. The first buffet meal that evening, the food, the desserts reminded me of the last time we came here and all of the meals for the next 3 days where all most the same, little or no flavor, Mexican names that don't match the food, most barely warm to touch. I can go on about the swim up bar and drinks, the hamburger, french fry and pizza place, the 50 or so cups sitting around the pool but what the heck. Why did we continue to come to this place? It was great several years ago and we where comfortable. We where creatures of habit and now we know that Tesoro is not for us anymore. Bad poolside service, mold, mildew, cold bland food, goodbye sis not like anything

I travelled to Manzanilla with a couple of friends for a relaxing week from life. We found a fabulous deal all inclusive with the Tesoro Resorts. When we arrived at the airport we were greeted by very friendly and helpful staff who escorted us to a private bus...with airconditioning. When we arrived at the hotel, there were many staff to assist us with all questions. I found everything to be well organized, very friendly and eager to tend to our needs. Buffets were served 3 times a day with a vast array of food. There was a theme each day for dinner. Much of the food was fabulous and pleasing, some did not suit my taste buds, more so the meat dishes. They serve wonderful salsas, guacamoles, tacos, ceviche and palomas (tequila and grapefruit with soda). Every evening there is a (Vegas style) performance in the main dinner hall, very entertaining....and boy can they move. The rooms were always clean and refilled, however the floors seemed to have sand on them always. Not sure if they swept every day. The beach is cleaned daily and very lovely and relatively private. There are many activities to do at the hotel or through the company that provides tours, however, it is a 20 min walk to the main strip where you can board a city bus for $0.65. The staff are very helpful with giving directions in finding your way around Manzanilla. Tesoro is a very family oriented hotel, so don't hesitate in taking your young ones.

Room Tip: rooms on the south end are quieter as the dance club is on the north end of the pool. Make sure your...

Just returned from our third visit and once again we had an outstanding time. There is nothing wrong with this place and the staff are second to none. We travel quite considerably and the Tesoro staff are by far the best. The hotel is clean, the rooms are nice and the food is fine. If you need anything, just ask the staff. Here's a tip, go to the A la carte and see Jorge, he will treat you like royalty. Jorge is one of the finest servers and kindest people you will meet. The recreation staff are excellent as well and the DJ'S will play any music you like. The Transat reps., JC and Miguel are also fantastic and will deal with your any needs. Can't wait to go back.

You can never be 100% satisfied about things and places but the Tesoro for me was an excellent 95% in every category. So what if you are able to sniff out a small crack in a tile or... The cleanliness, the service and all the staff go way out of their way to accommodate you and help in every possible request, need your fancy may desire. A friend and I returned last night and it was her 2nd time. This place is definitely high on the list to travel back with my husband this time. The food was great and fresh. We had friends in neighboring hotels rated higher than ours ??? but complained and visited our hotel more often than not :) go figure!! i loved the fact that they TRY TO SPEAK YOUR LANGUAGE AND SUCCEED PRETTY WELL IN ENGLISH. I PERSONALLY TRIED TO PRACTICE MY SPANISH INSTEAD (WHICH IS HORRIBLE) AND IT MADE FOR GREAT AMBIANCE... A BONUS.
Tours and beach are nice or just sitting in sun or shade, its all great. The quality/price is worth what we paid for and more.

Room Tip: We were in 320 with 2 double beds, facing pool and ocean. Couldn't get any better.Rooms on the s...

Beach - Small but very useable for snorkeling ,wave playing and swimming. Packed full of locals on either side. Vendors will approach you, but are friendly and will leave you alone when told. This resort needs more lounges for beach and pool area.

Pool - Very crowded

Bars- line ups most of the time.

Restaurants - Expect cold food even after seeing a new tray brought out! Mostly a huge line up for omelet station. They could use a second or even a third station at peak times! Very hard to get bacon at this resort! Tough to get ice cream as well! Or was that impossible? Alacarts were ok. Had a line up for al a carts like most places! Say Hi to Fernando _ great server that is very kind and a bit of a hockey lover!

Entertainment - Basic lame high school song and dance . Some nights they had the beach party and pretty much no room to watch the show.

The hotel is built on a hill and to get out to the main street you have to go down winding rolling hilly rough roads. The resort is compacted into a small area and nowhere to walk at night for those that like a evening walk.
