“Ready for a little TLC but a great little spot”
Reviewed April 10, 2014

The hotel is in need of some TLC but overall a great place and we enjoyed our stay a lot. The staff was very friendly and helpful and our room was clean and comfortable. We had a room on the 2nd floor where you definitely get more of a breeze off the water and a better view. It's located down by the harbour and we really enjoyed watching the freighters being guided in and out by the tugs. It's about a 5 minute walk to the breakwater and we sat and watched the harbour activity from there. Its location really requires that you have a vehicle.

We spent 2 nights here and could not have been happier with Hotel La Posada. Our room was large and comfortable. We were just a few steps from the pool and only a few more from the beach, which is wide, quiet and loooong. The sunset views were perfect. We were a little concerned about the hotel's proximity to the commercial port area, but that turned out to be one of the most interesting parts, watching the ocean freighters coming and going, loaded with containers. All of the staff are very friendly and helpful. A mistake in our bill was sorted out so easily, I couldn't believe it. A full breakfast is included, cooked to order when you're ready for it, not a buffet. Also great, and a necessity for us now when travelling, Hotel La Posada is dog friendly.
We are already thinking about next winter's plan for Mexico; we would stay here again without hesitation, and probably for longer.

We stayed here for a few days in 2002. It was owned by an older American and a bit run down, but friendly. The only refreshments provided at the time were beer and soft drinks in a refrigerator. It was on the honor system: you put your bottle cap in your room number's cubby hole, and they added it to your bill.
I'm so happy to hear it has been bought by a Mexican and remodeled. It is a beautiful little spot on the beach across yge road from a military base. In the morning the soldiers would run on the beach, and there was a certain charm to that; all that young energy was a little inspiring.
There's a rock breakwater just south of the hotel that has fabulous snorkeling. Many, many exotic fish and sea life, some I've never seen anywhere else. Warm water, too.
Good old tripadvisor reviews revealed the bus possibilities, so taking a cab to the restaurants won't be necessary the next time we visit. Our last time there, the marina wasn't finished. The new ads show lots of boats there now, so there will be restaurants nearby that area now.
It's a good distance in our airplane for a tropical getaway, so I'd live to return and see the improvements. We were thinking the hotel would be closed and torn down, but Juan's keeping it as a little gem is great news.

We never tire of returning to this peaceful quiet little piece of heaven. Staff is like family. Ocean is warm (sometimes more so than the swimming pool). A very relaxing small hotel to visit. The hotel is being upgraded with a completely new entry way, new office, new sala seating arrangement and a new kitchen. The upgrades have made the hotel more efficient and the new entry is more welcoming. Your first view when you step through the entry arch guides your eyes right out across the length of the sala, across the swimming pool to the sandy beach and ocean. Sunsets are usually phenomenal. Next time you want a quiet little hotel (without all the glass and chrome and crowds) try this one. Small, quaint, charming, old style, and very friendly. PS: we already made our reservations for next November.

Room Tip: Rooms 6, 7, 8, 13, 14, 15, 16, 25 have the best ocean views. All rooms now have A/C. If you are tr...

Hubby and I spent four nights here at the beginning of the month. It was a quiet, wonderfully relaxing time. We went snorkeling along the nearby jetty, enjoyed the pools and were blown away by the wonderful breakfasts. The fellow vacationers and staff were very friendly and helpful. The only caveat is the location-- good for quiet but challenging for restaurants, etc.. We walked off our dinners every night! And we learned to use the local buses!

Another restful visit on the beach. It is away from all the touristy things that vacationers seem to want. It is a dated property but that is part of the charm. The beach is just a few steps from the rooms and there is a noticeable lack of beach vendors, a real plus to me. Breakfast is great, and the rest of the day is yours to relax and enjoy. The bus stop is right out front of the hotel so if you decide not to drive to town, transportation is inexpensive and convenient. The staff is wonderful. Anything you can desire they can get for you or direct you to where you can find it in town. Juan, the owner, is always present, and cheerful. I will return yet again.

Room Tip: Not a 5 star hotel. No room service. This is a place to hide and relax.
