Las Palmas Villas & Casitas
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed April 14, 2014

We have travelled around the world and have stayed at numerous hotels, villas and bed & breakfasts and of all the places we have visited, nothing compares with this magnificent location. The pictures of the villas and casitas of the Las Palmas resort are spectacular, but to actually live the experience of breathing and feeling the warm Pacific breeze, the sheer natural beauty of the el violin beach, to see the views from the villa above the cliffs overlooking the Pacific ocean, the lush manicured gardens and the unmatched friendly service offered by the staff make this venue a true oasis!

This was our 4th time at Las Palmas (for more than a month) and we'll be back again. A small property, compact and well-designed affording lots of privacy and quiet and beautiful surroundings. Lots and lots of palm trees - and other tropical plantings make it a little jewel set in the wildness of the surrounding lands. Views to the ocean!! and great great sunsets!. We rent a casita and find it very comfortable, spacious, clean and a great bed! There is air conditioning, but the great design, and ceiling fans are sufficient to keep it cool enough for us ---after all, we're there for the warmth. The modest kitchen is fine for the 'vacation' cooking we do and the reception area has a huge grill for anyone to use. There IS a blender, for the smoothies!

Poolside is great --- and our experience has been that the other guests are very friendly, interesting and respectful.

The staff are very friendly and extremely helpful. We look forward to seeing them again and enjoying the tranquility of Las Palmas.

This was our sixth visit to Huatulco, but our first time at Las Palmas. We tried to book Las Palmas last year, but as it was booked solid for the vacation window we wanted, we had to go elsewhere. This year, the stars aligned, and we were blessed with two wonderful weeks in PARADISE!

Las Palmas is a cozy and intimate grouping of casitas and villas in a walled and gated oasis perched high atop a hill overlooking playa Violin. The grounds are nothing short of stunning. Palm trees pepper the property, and there are lush, green, tropical plants and colourful flowers everywhere you look, and they are constantly being maintained by the groundskeepers.

There are five casitas and three villas. The casitas all share a large infinity pool next to the palapa, while the three villas have their own private infinity pools. We were very lucky to stay in the Parrot's Perch casita, which is pool-level, and literally 10 steps from the patio entrance of the casita. Our casita was fully furnished with a sofa/couch, chair, dining area which consisted of a table and four chairs, and kitchen, including full-size fridge, microwave oven, and gas stove. There are plenty of plates, cups and cutlery for four guests. Our casita also came with a purified water dispenser, even though the tap water is treated and safe to drink. The bedroom had an extra twin bed next to our king. There are two full bathrooms in the casita as well, both with huge showers. The bedroom also had a clock radio with IPOD dock, which we used occasionally. The bed was firm, but very comfortable. We had no problem getting a good night sleep! The bedroom also has access to a private balcony with chairs. Every room has a ceiling fan and air conditioning! Our casita (and frankly, the entire complex) was tended to daily, and always left in pristine condition! Watching the sunsets from the patio on the roof of the two-storey casita was unbelievable!

On-site manager, Talina, was always available to answer questions, or even just to call for a taxi. Talina was always a delight to talk to, and knows everything about Huatulco! Her top priority was to make sure we were having the best vacation possible! Although we ate in town most nights, Talina can also arrange for meals to be prepared on-site, or to purchase groceries for you from one of the local supermarkets! In the evenings and overnight, Erick was always around to help us out! TIP: Taxis are plentiful, and never more than a 5 minute wait.

One of the biggest benefits of staying at Las Palmas was its proximity to playa Entrega, which is a great beach to snorkel from. Entrega is a short 8 minute walk from the front gate. There are many good beach restaurants at Entrega, as well as shops to rent snorkel gear or paddle boards from. We spent three afternoons enjoying the hospitality of Pepe at Restaurant La Entrega. If you don't like crowds, avoid the weekends (especially Saturdays), as the locals pour into the restaurants and the beach gets rather crowded.

Las Palmas also has access to its own 'private' beach, playa Violin. There is a nice path down to the beach, though it's pretty steep. The walk back can be exhausting after an afternoon of snorkelling and/or basking in the sun.

During our stay, we met and became friends with all of the guests staying in the other casitas and villas. Almost all were regular repeat guests. We also met owners Ron and Jackie, who, along with everyone else, made us feel like family, and we're very grateful to them for that! Hopefully we can meet up at Las Palmas with our wonderful new friends next year, as we're already trying to book for 2015!

Room Tip: There is no bad room! House of the rising Sun villa is the largest, having 5 bedrooms.

We had the pleasure of experiencing what all the reviewers were raving about this last past month. My now wife and I rented out the entire resort for our friends and family for our wedding get a way week! Pictures don't do this place justice as beautiful as they are. The staff was incredible, cleaning rooms and kitchens everyday, and preparing the best Mexican food in Huatulco. We have nothing bad to say about this place, how could you when it's paradise. Perfect for weddings or family reunions Las Palmas does not disappoint. Taleena at the front desk took care of any requests we had, from ice runs for the bar to trip excursions, she could do it all. Word to the wise wifi is a little limited, but you're crazy to be on it when you're here! From the bottom of our hearts Jenn and I thank you and will always keep the memories of this place in our hearts. Do yourselves a huge favour and stay here!!! You will never forget it!!

We rented the Dolphin Villa for 10 days for a family holiday. Is a great place to stay if you want to be away from all the crowds. Las Palmas is set in a beautiful spot, on the top of cliff side with its own bay. Views are stunning! To get to Las Palmas requires a car or taxi, not in walking distance from town. There is a small beach which is accessible through a steep path (bring everything you need because it's a 15 minute climb back up).
Villa was well stocked, clean and very comfortable. Three of the four rooms had a stunning view towards the ocean. The four was overlooking the garden. The private pool is great! Staff were very friendly and helpful. Only small issue was wireless internet not working for 5 days.

If you are going to Huatulco then you must stay here, hands down our best vacation.

First off, it is gorgeous. The compound sits on top of a cliff overlooking the ocean. The views are breath taking. Perfect golden sunsets every night. Its the ideal place to stay. There aren't hundreds of guests. I think the max that can stay is 60 people. So its quiet and ideal for a relaxing trip. Its made up of casitas and villas that can sleep 8 people (and have private Infiniti pools).

My husband and I chose Las Palmas as our honeymoon spot. We rented a casita. The casita was adorable. 1 bedroom, 2 bathrooms, and a kitchen. All super clean and decorated perfectly. Before we arrived Talina (the manager who is amazing!!) emailed us asking if we wanted any groceries. They picked us up alcohol and food so it was all ready when we arrived. She arranged our transportation as well.

They have a cook onsite who you can arrange a head of time to make meals for you (she is amazing, everything was super good and it was only 200 pesos (per meal) for the cook plus the cost of food), you can cook yourself, or you can take a quick cab ride to the surrounding cities for a meal. I suggest doing all!

The staff is great. Everyone is super nice and there at any time to help you decide on a restaurant, book a day trip, or arrange a boat to take you around the bays. We took a private all day boat trip. It was amazing. 6 hours on a private boat exploring the bays, beaches, and snorkeling. Its a must.

There are 2 beaches in walking distant. El Violin is a 5 min walk down. Its a private nature reserve and the beach is lovely. We were the only people there… its basically a private beach for Las Palmas. Amazing snorkeling. La Entrega is a 10 min walk. A great spot to snorkel as well.

The owners, Ron and Jackie. I can't say enough wonderful things about them. I hope they are there when you go! Super sweet people. They invited us to their Christmas party and we had breakfast with them one morning. They are very involved with the hotel, not absent owners. They want to make sure you are happy and having a great time.

We are 100% going back to Las Palmas. Not one bad thing to say about our stay. If there was 6 stars they'd get one more!

Las Palmas was a beautiful looking place we cam across when researching Honeymoon spots. And when we arrived from the other side of Mexico, we were blown away. It was the most gorgeous setting I could imagine. Overlooking the Mexican South Pacific with it's own private beach to walk down to, this place will make you never want to leave...especially if you're like us and had to come back to Minnesota in December!

We were even luckier that the Owners of Las Palmas were there and about as welcoming and gracious as you could imagine. They included us in their own personal activities and made us feel more than welcomed. We even got to take part in their White Elephant Xmas party! They are just awesome.

The staff was friendly and helpful and the cook who makes meals if you wish is OUT OF THIS WORLD good. The towns of Santa Cruz and Crucecitas are close and but not too close. If you want about the most perfect place for a get away, look into Las Palmas. We will be back just as soon as we can. Huatulco is a very special place and Las Palmas was amazing!

Room Tip: We stayed in Whales Tail and really liked it because we have views of 2 different bays and were on t...
