Ocean Spray Mountain Coffee Plantation Tour

We booked this excursion through Apple vacations at our hotel. It was about $75 per person but this also included the coffee plantation where they fed you lunch, the waterfalls, tour guides who are locals and transportation to and from the waterfalls. On the ride to and from this excursion, you drive through the villages and you really get to see how the people live. This is well worth the money. The terrain is rough riding in the van. The tour guide also provides a cooler with beverages. Take some cash with you. There is a butterfly house at the coffee plantation which costs $4 per person. No one told us is but thankfully someone in our group brought cash. Some locals will also try to sell you a clay facial mask, coffee and tequila at the coffee plantation after the waterfalls. Everything was beautiful and the excursion does take the entire day.

The driver picks you up from your hotel in a big van that fits about 14 people or so. The worst thing about it is the drive. It is through a VERY LONG BUMPY RIDE to get there that I even felt sick after 45 minutes of driving through the desert mountains with no paved roads. The driver was very good at trying to entertain us. By the time we got to the place to walk to the falls; most of us were more than ready to get out. The nice thing is they give you walking sticks to walk through the forest trail and it is about a half mile walk to the falls. It is beautiful though! The water is very clear and calm. You must bring an extra pair of clothes to get in; the water is not deep at all so it is safe for children as well. The guide took us even behind the water fall which was pretty cool and people even jumped off a rope into the water. There was a local man who was selling red clay and put it on out faces to exfoliate them which was pretty cool. They have changing rooms for you to change back in your clothes and head back up to the coffe plantation where they serve you a traditional mole lunch. Absolutely delicious!

The drive is a long bumpy ride! LOL
Some pretty cool sites. There are a couple of different fall locations. I heard the one we went on was a bit smaller, but it was a smaller group and a little more personal/ peacefull!!!! Same thing but different! LOL

It's an adventure day w/lunch, hiking and swimming. Must be somewhat in shape to hike/swim the falls.

Like mentionned in other reviews it is a long and bumpy ride to get there but our tour was well organized.

1) We started with a stop at a local botanical garden where we saw and leanred about many medicinal plants and then had a chance to do our own torilla and eat it.
2) We went to visit a iguanario.
3) Drove to the falls.
4) The falls themselves are nice but not super impressive. What makes this excursion great is the guide that takes you into and behind the falls and applies the exfoliating mask. It is magical!
5) Lunch was delicious.
6) Drove back.

Before going on the tour I would have liked to know that several people would guide us through the day. You may want to bring a few pesos extra for tips.

We left at 8:10 am and returned to the hotel close to 7:00 pm.
