The Bays of Huatulco is a lovely area that the Mexican government has created for tourism yet it is not over run with tourists which made it an ideal get away for us. While there is a selection of modern resorts there is a sense of peace and seclusion created by the natural topography of the area. It is still small and intimate feeling unlike some of Mexico's more commercialized area. The excursions and tours offered in the area are more eco friendly. Touring ancient ruins, coffee plantations, ATV tours through a National park complete with small village and abandoned banana plantation, snorkelling and scuba diving amongst the many coral reefs. The area is very tourist friendly and we felt extremely safe and comfortable during our numerous outings from our resort. I'd definitely recommend this as a destination for people preferring to be a little off the beaten path.
