“Everything great but for the stairs - for some”
Reviewed October 15, 2013

I have had two stays here at Las Brisas and really liked each stay. The first time I had an incredible room with king bed, couch, table two leather chairs and a superb view of the bay. The second time, it was two queen beds and no table but still great. Cleanliness and prompt attention from the maid and maintenance service excellent.
The area is huge with a very long drive to reception. A very large area, cool, quiet and efficient staff. Once checked in you stand in a very short line under your "compound" sign. Mine was Estrellas and the maxi golf cart takes you to your building. For return, just pick up the phone at the drop off area and they come quickly.
Ah, those stairs. I was quiet high and counted 167 stairs to get to the dining room. Fine for me but if you are not fit, then this could be a chore. There are landings where you can stop and enjoy the view, animals, flora and then continue on your way. However after dinner and a couple of glasses or wine, it felt like 1670 stairs! Not really.
The food here is very good. I enjoyed the buffets and the a la carte rooms. The beach snack area great for breakfast and a light lunch. Service is 4+
Numerous tennis courts, pools for kids and separate area for adults only. Massage on the beach, sports, you name, you have it. Pathways around the shore line great for an early morning run or walk, well lit at night.
As Las Brisas is on a bay on the left side, there are no huge waves, or even smaller ones as it is sheltered from the straight line of the ocean. Thus, the lounge chairs, umbrellas, and shore are accessible at all times.
The beach bars, main open bar are very good, Just do not ask for a glass of California Chablis. White is white and red is red. The Mexican beers are so good. The tequila drinks very good.
There is nightly entertainment and folk art sales along and in the main building lower area.
It is a short cab ride to the little town of La Crucecita where you can walk around uninterrupted. Great ice creams, road side bars, stores from street vendors to boutiques. I went to two restaurants and had surprisingly terrific meals.
There is a main plaza with a church at the main side. Worth a visit as it is beautifully painted and adorned.
The real estate market is expanding, so there are many billboards for condos, etc.
Back to Las Brisas. There are no peddlers on the beach and off to the side of the property there is a private adult beach. Again, call for a cart if you need it.
Would I come again? Well, I already have and liked it so much. The weather was perfect on both trips and even the outdoor dining at dinner time was so pleasant.

The resort is spread over a vast area and you are taken to your room by small motorized carts, as some of the hills can be somewhat of a challenge. LOTS of stairs everywhere! The restaurant choices are many, but the best one is the huge buffet near the beach. Service and quality of food is excellent. There are a choice of beaches, all kinds of activites daily, excursions to nearby places, and any drinks you can imagine. The majority of tourists consisits of Mexicans and Canadians.

Room Tip: Choose a room that is high up so you get a good view of everything

Upon our arrival we were impressed with the location and scenery of this beautiful resort. There's plenty of beach and pool for everyone as well as nice amenities if you prefer to stay active. It appeared we were the only Americans in the resort which was not a problem. The other travelers/vacationers were all friendly and had no issues whatsoever.

That was the high point! We were told by Apple Vacations we were upgraded to a suite however, the hotel only gave us a Deluxe Room. After speaking with a manager, they reluctantly moved us to a suite. It was evident as we entered the suite that it had not been cleaned. The mini-fridge which is supposed to be stocked daily was empty. On top of that, we found DIRTY MEN'S UNDERWEAR underneath our kitchen sink! We immediately went back to the front desk to inform them. They told us they would have it cleaned but we would have to wait a couple hours before we could get in. Great, so much for relaxing! Once our room was "ready", we entered to find that the fridge had been stocked, the room, maybe lightly cleaned, and the DIRTY MEN'S UNDERWEAR still under the sink! Went back downstairs, asked for a manager, he said they would remove them immediately, Never Happened! So, the next morning was our (we were the only Apple travelers at this resort) scheduled meeting with the Apple Rep. After informing him of our findings, he stated "That is unacceptable! That can't happen in their resorts...", apologized and said he would speak to the General Manager and Head of Housekeeping. He told us he would check with us the next day to make sure everything was perfect. We never heard from him again! And....the DIRTY MEN'S UNDERWEAR were still there when we checked out!

Next, there are small vehicles that transport you around the resort because it is so spread out. You can walk to anything but when carrying things or going to eat, you may prefer to ride. While waiting for a ride to the lobby or restaurants, we were too often passed by empty cars saying they would get us on the way back, almost always being full on the return trip causing us to walk or wait long periods of time. When returning to our room using these, we were ALWAYS the last ones dropped off! They would even pass our room to drop others off before us. Twice, they passed our room, stopped the cart and told us we could walk back! Really?!?

There's more but frankly, I'd like to start my day. Unfortunately, this is definitely a place we will NEVER stay again!!!

Room Tip: Good Luck!

this place we picked for its great hospitality towards Canadians(Edmontonians here). It is a great resort and yes there is lots of stairs if you choose to use them. there are buses that take you. but hey work out before bed after enjoying all the great meals they serve you. You can buy bottle beer for a cheap price. its affordable. and you can have all the draft beer you want for free all inclusive. still i perfer Victoria beer and all inclusive wasnt cover but 2 bucks or so 20 peso i think i remember. was fair enough. nice and cold brought to you right on the beach. rooms and bathrooms where very clean. shine off the floors is awsome. i think almost everyroom has ocean view. water is calm enough for kids to swim in and not be dragged out to sea. other side is very wavey. they purify their water so you can drink from taps they say we went past the purifacation plant on way to hotel. and they RECYCLE Tooo! for pacific water. its very clear. garbage from the states only floats to peurto i think so this area is very nice.

Room Tip: seems like all rooms are viewing the water somewhere.

We stayed for 5 days. Beach was beautiful and not crowded. Kids enjoyed the pools. Taxis to La Crucecita were cheap and less then 10 min. away. Huatulco is beautiful and this hotel added to the experience. We never tried to walk. Getting around in their small cars was faster and never a problem. We didn't get the all inclusive plan, but I would the next time. They had security to enter the hotel property and we felt safe. Tip, it's best to tell the front desk that you need a taxi when calling for a ride. Waiting for a taxi was never long.

First time ever at the Las Brisas Huatulco and I was not disappointed. I spent two nights at this all inclusive resort for my cousin's beach wedding. My only wish is that I could have stayed longer. There were only about 20 of us at this huge resort, but the staff made us feel like we were their only group.

As I stated, this resort is HUGE!!! So big in fact that they have carts constantly taking guests everywhere. The carts seat about 9 people each and are easy to catch a ride. If a cart was full, then there usually was another one less than 5 minutes behind. I soon learned the walking paths, but this place is hilly. We stayed in the Blue Tower section so it was usually easier to walk down and catch a cart back up. The size of the resort did require some planning because a trip back to our room could take 20 minutes or more.

I heard other sections of the resort had different sized rooms, but our room was big. We had a king sized bed with a full sized sitting area. The balcony had a phenomenal view and I enjoyed sitting out there for morning coffee.

The 3 beaches here are great. One includes a coral reef that is nice for snorkeling. The snorkeling is not as spectacular as say Hawaii, but it was good enough and there were plenty of beautiful fish to see.

My cousin was married on the activity beach, which the resort closed for the wedding. The staff did a fantastic job of setting up the altar and seating on the beach. It appeared that it might rain heavily so the staff setup on the beach and in the beachside restaurant. When it did not rain they very quietly removed the duplicate setup. Obviously, they do many weddings and the staff had it down. The wedding was beautiful and the food was delicious. As we ate dinner, the staff converted the beach into our own private wedding disco. It was an impressive wedding.

I had breakfast twice and one lunch at the buffet. The food at the buffet was nothing to write home about, but it was good and the restaurant was very clean. The staff was great.

The entire wedding party had dinner at the Mexcian restaurant and it was delicious. Ordering here was off a menu. Again the staff was great.

I enjoyed my stay at Las Brisas. It was impressive that they could keep up with each individual guest and still be so huge. I hope to visit again.
