My husband and I spent the day with Armando on our recent trip to Huatulco. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed the entire day. We had breakfast and lunch that was delicious! The tour was educational and interesting. the swim at the waterfall was fun! Can't wait to go back!

We emailed Hagia Sofia to arrange a day-long shore excursion (Huatulco) for our upcoming cruise. The day we arrived in Huatulco, Armando (owner and creator of Hagia Sofia) picked us up and drove us to the property. They had prepared a beautiful 'welcome meal' for all of us. Armando personally escorted us through the entire lush property, educating us on all the plants, trees, flowers, etc. Halfway through the excursion, we used a footbridge to cross a stream where we were met with hammocks, shade, fruit, and delicious cashew water. We thoroughly enjoyed Armando, his absolute passion for this lovely tribute to Nature, and his willingness to ensure we enjoyed ourselves. At the end of our tour, we enjoyed another wonderful meal and chatted with some local people before having to head back to Huatulco's port and our ship. Armando drove us back to the port. We had a lovely time!!

We ready about this place raving reviews, so we decided to visit during our stay in Huatulco.
We had a car, so we drove there ourselves, and that was a challenge. The locals do not know the place by it's cvommercial name, and there are no signs leading to the location. Even the locals at Santa Maria de Huatulco, which is just ~ 3 kilometers from the park, did not know what I was talking about, and I speak fluent Spanish. The fist sign is ~ 1 km from the torn off the main road, and then you go onto a rough dirt road.
Once you get there, the place is nicely developed as an Eco tourism site. The owner, Armando, bough the place ~ 10 years ago, and he planted most of the tropical plants by himself. They greet you with fruits that grow on the property, fruit juice, coffee, water, and an explanation about the place.
The guided tour goes through nicely done trails, with sign of the various plants and trees. Along the way you get to taste fruit cut from the trees on site.
See pictures of flowers, and believe me it is hard to capture the total beauty of this place in pictures.
The tour ends at the cascade, small but refreshing and there is a cave with an entrance under the waterfall.
Highly recommended.

We recently visited Huatulco as a port stop on our cruise on the Norwegian Sun. We visited during this port stop. We were picked up at the Hagia Sofia office in Huatulco. We had a personal guided tour by the founder. We enjoyed a native Mexican breakfast at the start of our tour, we tasted a banana that tastes like an apple and one that tastes like vanilla. Wish we could get these at home as they were delicious. Before we started to the garden path we applied some natural insect repellent that was provided by our tour and it was very effective. We started on our tour, a breathtaking walk through some of the most beautiful tropical flowers. We took a short break to enjoy the hammocks under trees and listen to the gentle sounds of the river. We finished our tour with a walk through the orchards, lots of different birds to see as well. A dip in the river and under the waterfall was a refreshing stop on our tour. A native lunch prepared over a log fire was enjoyed. A place you will not want to miss when visiting Hautulco, Mexico.
