We were lucky enough to find an incredible all-inclusive deal at the Camino Real over New Year’s Eve. Although the rooms could use a little freshening up, the resort itself was beautiful and clean; the majority of the rooms have a complete view of the beach and those on the main level have personal plunge pools. However, as stated by other reviewers, this resort is not suited to people with mobility issues (as there are plenty of stairs); or party people who expect the pool parties, activities and entertainment. For those who want a relaxing time at a picturesque, private beach this is the place for you and if you want taxis are available to take you into town for less than $5.00 where there is plenty to see and do.
There are many activities and tours available outside the resort. Tours of the bays, the waterfalls, coffee plantations, and city tours as well as great shopping and dining. For the right price you can even find a taxi driver who speaks English to give you a personal tour of the area.
The New Year’s Eve Gala was incredible. There was a seafood buffet, music and at midnight we watched the fireworks and sent white lanterns into the night sky. Had we not had the all-inclusive package attending the gala and eating at the resort would have been extremely expensive. This was the only complaint we heard from other people staying at the resort who did not have the all-inclusive package.
When New Year’s was over, the resort became extremely quiet to the point where one night, supper was only available at the ocean front restaurant (reservations required), pizza and salad at another, or room service.
The staff at the Camino Real is second to none. They are friendly, courteous, and do their best to make guests happy. We enjoyed our time at the Camino Real and met some incredible people. We really do not have any complaints about this resort. We would return—as long as it was with an all-inclusive package.
