There is a lovely 500ft swimming pool at the Real Zaashila. But I didn't need it. I could splash about in my own "pool" on one of the two balconies to my suite overlooking the beach. Idyllic location, wonderful accommodation, lovely big bed, attentive staff, and great food. Try the deep-fried grasshoppers in the restaurant (delicious if you don't look too closely and realise you're eating bugs!). Then catch 'happy hour' in the bar and sink a few tequilas washed down with cold Mexican beer. Short taxi ride to the lively centre of town at La Crucecita, with bars, restaurants and shops. Get the cabbie to drop you off at the Tipsy Blowfish on the way back for a few more beers and some great music before a five-minute stroll home to bed.

23rd time to Mexico. We said we would never go back to the same place so we can see it all. So much for tht idea! 5th time at the Zaashila. Fourth time to bring another couple all four say the same thing. One of the best places on earth. Most important asste is the people. Not just that everyone remembers you, even out first names, but the town is the same.

Safer than perhaps any city in the US.

Room Tip: We like the view but close to the water. get a roomm in the 20's

Once again traveled to the Camino Real Zaashila from Jan 28 to Feb 4th..Seven days of pure enjoyment. The staff make every effort to please. Caught a few fish while I was there and the staff at the Camino prepared the "blue fin tuna" and Dorado(Mahi-Mahi) in ways that were utterly fantastic. I always enjoy the time spent in Huatulco so much that I will be returning in April with friends. It seems that with each passing year my wife and I enjoy the Camino and the staff there more and more. While you are in Huatulco if you get a chance check out "Momma Mia's" a very nice place to eat.

This was our first stay in this Camino resort. We were most impressed. Everything was spotlessly clean and and the breakfast top class Mexican. The weather was perfect and seems warmer than Dubai for a winter break. We were there 4th - 12th January. The beach bar is a nice focal point. It is only 20 minutes away from Crucacita the local town that has enough shops restaurants and nightlife for everybody. The beach is beautiful and clean with very few people but slopes steeply and the sea is only for strong swimmers. There is free WiFi in the Reception but it would be an improvement to have it free in the rooms. We will certainly go back.

Have been home for a week today. We spent Feb.16th through the 29th. Upon arrival we were welcomed home. Refreshing drinks served during the the check in process. The front desk staff are extremely friendly and efficient. We opted to pay up front for breakfast and save 10%. The buffet breakfasts are fantastic. Not complaining, but a bit on the expensive end. They serve eggs any style, pancakes and waffles all made to order. There are about 10 - 12 ingredients that can be plated for omelets. Fresh fruits, rolls, yogurts, cereals, fresh fruit juice station as well as 5 - 6 prepared dishes. These ranged from frijoles, papas (scalloped, roasted or hashed), Chilaquiles, tamales, Menudo, different types of meats both cold and hot. We
would usually eat around 10 and have more of a brunch rather than breakfast. From about 11 to 5:30 spent the days on the beach under a palapa being pampered by the very attentive beach wait staff. We would grab a taxi into town to go to a different restaurant every night. There are lots of great places to eat out and about. This review being about the resort and not restaurants. This was our 6th stay here. We have always stayed in buildings 1-3 which are the closest to the beach. We had room 16. As I reported last time the rooms were being updated with fresh paint. They have updated shower heads an bed linens. They now have light weight down comforters rather than old heavy spreads. They removed the old iron head and foot boards on the beds and changed light fixtures. The pool is huge, refreshing and never crowded. The grounds are extremely well kept. The beach is kept clean and a great place to stretch your legs. Now about the staff who have become like family. Muchas Gracias!
I have read and heard complaints regarding the management and I personally disagree with them all. Ever since Yvonne has been there she has always greeted us and asked if there was anything they could do to make our stay better. She has been instrumental in making changes and upgrades. From speaking with the staff she is an excellent manager. We witnessed an entire staff meeting with staff acknowledgements of doing a great job. The wait staff are now rotating restaurants and beach duties. I think this is a great idea which gives added experience to the staff, as well as, for some an added break from the heat. To the entire staff I would like to than you for making our stay enjoyable, relaxing and fun. Susana you are an added asset to the Camino with your friendly and energetic personality. Juana, Antonio and Juanita thanks for starting our days off by giving us the royal treatment at breakfast/brunch. Enrique thank you for the great beach service and helping me communicate with the beach vendors due to my lack of Spanish. Hermil(o) thank you for your assistance regarding our room upon arrival. We have made a decision to make the Camino Real our destination of choice, as it has become our home away from home. Until next time,Thank You ALL.

Room Tip: Club rooms have splash pools. As we have only been in buildings 1-3 I can only assume that all rooms...

Stayed there and really enjoyed it. Hotel is a bit old but has been upkept. Rooms do need an upgrade. If are the type that likes activities in the pool and need to be entretained 24/7 with loud music this is not the place. We did enjoy the silence that allowed us to relax. The beach is virtually private for hotel guests. On the down side food at the restaurants is not very good, specially at Deep Blue. I recommed that you take a 5 min taxi to down town and have dinner at any of the restaurants which are good at a fraction of the cost.

Returning to the Camino is like going home. This is our sixth stay and we plan, good Lord be willing, to return. The location is peaceful and the staff are like family. January is a great time for the holiday crunch is over and it's not crowded at all. Our room was recently remodeled with new bedding and a clean crisp look. The grounds are pristine and the beach is book end by rock cliffs which make it very intimate. there are beach vendors but they respect your privacy and once you say "no gracias" they go on their way. In fact over the years we've become good friends with some of them along with the staff of the Camino. Ms. Yvonne Kraak, the Managing Director, is a incredible person who reaches out to every guest to help them with their request. Alejandra Salas is the room division manager and she also is a great liaison for other request. This is not an all-inclusive property but the three restaurants serve a great cuisine.
For a taste of small town Mexican life, there is La Crucecita (10 minutes from the Camino), which serves as a support community for the area and has a more genuine Mexican atmosphere. It has many restaurants and shops built around a typical Mexican zócalo (town square) - the focal point of the community enjoyed by residents and tourists alike. Yes there are jewelry stores also and I can attest to that.
A safe area for touring so go and enjoy.

Room Tip: Splash pool......................worth it after the beach.
