We stayed at the Crown for our 4th time in five years. The view from the tenth floor suite is amazing. The balcony is huge (approx. 10 x 20 feet) with 2 chairs and a small table. Our Suite had a 6 foot round 'Jacuzzi' tub. You can open the sliding window overlooking the bay while you shower (no one will see you). We normally walked to the beach (approx 5 minutes) where the main restaurant, bar & pool are located. There are many activities and pool games (not involving drinking). Being a smaller resort, we always meet some nice people (many of whom also have come to the Crown on numerous occasions). The views from the 7th floor pool is also unbelievable. (go there at sunset in you can) The food is fine, and for the price you pay you can afford to go out to eat a couple of times. Staff are excellent, and make you feel like they are happy you came. If you like a quiet, relaxing resort, give it a try. We are looking forward to our 5th. visit next year. P.S. There is free wi-fi in the lobby/lobby bar.

Room Tip: 7th Floor or higher

Huatulco is a great place to vacation, but we were unfortunate to land on this hotel by New Year's Eve. We are mexicans and we were eager to enjoy Oaxaca's wonderful gastronomy and beaches, this didn't happen at the hotel, though.

And please, Crown Pacific maganer, don't mind to leave your "we are sorry" response. I will send you an email with more details, thank you. If you put the energy you use to send this obviously automatic responses in doing your job you wouldn't have to send them in the first place!

I agree with other reviews, "No" is the favorite response of the hotel, you'll be ignored and most of the time you'll be fighting to get what is considered a must in any other hotel. "It's not the hotel's fault...(fill in the blank)" was another favorite. Let's begin with NO internet, only at the lobby and not very good.

Obviously, the hotel has seen better days and the view is beautiful (mainly at one pool not everywhere), however is not the hotel's merit anymore.

Service is really-really good (front desk people aside) and they are undermanned but a great service does not substitute a decent meal or a clean room.

All inclusive is a big fat lie, for instance:
- You'll get just 2 bottles of water and 2 cans of soda in your frigobar. Beer? Forget it.
The bar was always closed even during New Year's Eve, no barman, only depressive music...

Food is dreadful!
Always the same short menu, no variation and poor quality; and you have to "catch" serving hours because they close before the hour or take too long in order to make you quit.
Any requests will be rejected: another customer asked and get quesadillas (tortillas + cheese) but the girl who provided this received a huge scold, maybe she was fired. What is wrong with these people!?
Once we wanted to take some snacks (carrots, cucumbers, jicamas) and we were told that no food at the pool until 3pm and by 2:50pm they take every piece of food away... We took the snacks out anyway.
And it is true, birds clean the tables... kind of funny at first.
Finally, fyi: pico de gallo + ketchup is not ceviche.
Their kitchen is a disgrace to Mexican food and the great variety (and prices) that Oaxaca offers.

Room
It has plenty of space and the view was partial but nice, although the bathroom was a disgrace and insects frequently came out from the drain. We asked many times to fix that but aside from a can of insecticide and a "It's not the hotels fault if there are insects, we fumigate often" (not effectively), nothing happened. You could even find cockroaches at halls and gardens.
Also, as days passed they short our room towels, which by the way were old and ratty (pool towels, too).
Since staff is undermanned, we woke every morning at 8:50am with a knock on our doors and someone asking what time they should come to clean the room. This is because maids had to finish a number of rooms by 12pm, so they knock every hour trying to accomplish their quota.

Transportation
The funicular stops being funny after the second ride, it takes forever to wait and travel. Carts are always full and you never know how long the next one will come.
We rather walked most of the time, though it was difficult in heels. Now I have a better physical condition.

Beach/Pools
Only the 7th floor pool is acceptable, sometimes huge umbrellas fly and you have to duck, but the wind is not the hotel's fault. True story.
Beach was outside the building, it was tiny for the number of guests, very few chairs or lounge chairs. We didn't even considered it after the first visit to the dinner.

Entertainment
Of course we were entertain! In every corner you could find an angry customer ventilating some issue, sometimes to other customers or personnel (who sadly act merely as punching bags, we felt sorry for them many times because obviously they have a very different (better) vision of customer care than the management).
Canadians, Japaneses, Americans, Mexicans, everybody was complaining. At least we could communicate in Spanish. We tried to convinced foreigners that our country is way better than this place.
Any other entertainment wasn't noticed.

We chose to visit local restaurants, markets, other beaches and buy one day passes to nearby hotels. Our money was already wasted at Crown Pacific, a huge waste.

I seriously doubt about good reviews of this hotel.

Room Tip: No room is a healthy choice

Our stay at the Crown Pacific Huatulco was wonderful and pleasantly surprising! For a 3-star this hotel is great value for your money! The rooms are large and spacious and extremely clean. The bedding and towels are fresh and bright white. The staff is friendly and kind. The shuttle service ran smoothly and was readily available. The walk to the beach is very short and pleasant. The Activities Staff are fabulous, talented dancers and definitely played a big part in making our stay such fun. The evening shows were fantastic! A special thank you to Alex and the whole team! The food at the Crown Pacific is delicious and the selection was good however I must say we were disappointed there was no guacamole! It was nice to have a smaller resort with less people; no line ups or waiting for anything. Many mexican guests mixed in with some Canadians was very nice! Mosquitos were present unfortunately which is the only negative comment I have. We would definitely return to this resort.

Room Tip: The 7th, 8th and 9th floor facing the pool are the lovliest but difficult to get. We had a corner suite on the 6th floor and it was perfectly fine! Make sure your air conditioning is working well - you will need it! It's so hot in Hualtuco!

This resort was surprisingly pleasant for a three star, which it likely gets docked on because it's not on the beach. The 10th floor gives you a five star view of the ocean and the suites are spacious.

I felt compelled to write this review to warn would-be guests about the shuttle service or the lack thereof. Because we were there for part of the Christmas break, it ran quite regularly. But once the break was over, the brakes were applied to the shuttle service. On our last day, we waited over an hour for the shuttle to get to the beach, take us to the lobby, then another shuttle to take us to our room to get our suitcases, then back to the lobby. Because the shuttle service was agonizingly slow, we missed our airport transfer and had to pay our own way to the airport. The front desk staff and manager treated us like it was our problem.

Overall, it was a decent resort and we would go again, but only if it was comparatively inexpensive.

The positives. The view from the room I had was spectacular (level 10, corner suite), the room was clean, and it was quiet. The staff were very friendly and this is a great hotel if you want to practice your Spanish. I gave my chamber maid a $5 USD tip every day because she would leave me little presents of flowers and would make up my towels into Swans and Hearts. She was fantástico, I liked hanging out at the hotel pool and met a lot of really nice people from Mexico. Unfortunately, the Canadians and the Americans were not as friendly to the Mexicans and pretty much stuck to themselves. I sat with some of them on my first couple of nights and to my horror found them to be prejudiced and closed minded.

The negatives. While the grounds are really quite beautiful, this resort is difficult to get around in. It is built into the side of a mountain and the paths are quite steep. There are cars that take you to the different levels but you can, at times, have to wait a while before one shows up. The beach club where the meals are served is about three city blocks away. There are cars that will take you there as well. The food at the beach club wasn't great and the menu at the Italian Restaurant was good but the choices were pretty slim. The service at the beach club wasn't great either. Even if you tipped, it just wasn't good at all. Also, the entertainment is in the same venue as the meals so finding a table to sit at to have a meal once the show starts is near to impossible.

The available beach space is small. If you want to get a spot at the beach, you need to be there by about 7:30 am, otherwise forget it.

My deck had a wasps nest and was infested with ants.

Sunwing had this resort rated as a 4 but it is more of a 3. They try, but the ratings the travel sites are giving them are too high.

Room Tip: Levels 7 and up have the best views.
