“Great town to visit”
Reviewed February 17, 2013

We just returned from a two week stay at Secrets Huatulco. We took a cab to La Crucecita one AM to do some shopping and see the sites. Cab ride costs $6. from Secrets area. About a 10 minute drive so quick and easy. We had the driver drop us off in the town square area. This is very central where there is a treed park with a nice church on the north side.

Take the time to visit the church as it has some very nice architecture and ceiling art similar to the Vatican. From here there are lots of shops, bars and restaurants. We needed a pharmacy and there are numerous in this area with lots of selection. There are a couple grocery stores/markets for fruit and meat that are interesting and have lots of fresh selections.

There are great jewelery, leather and shoe stores as well as many of your tourist stops along all the streets. It's a very safe, easy and relaxing place to walk around. We spent 4 hours here and there were no pressure sales persons or persons chasing you for $'s as occurs in other Mexican destinations we've been to. That was wonderful as the people were so nice and friendly.

This place is very clean and the most "authentic" we've been to. There are no Americanized places which is good. There are many places to grab a table and eat/drink. We took a break from eating after a week at the all inclusive so just had some beers at a place with a view of the square.

There are lots of cabs and many are always parked on the south side of the square. When it was time to go we could quickly grab one and were back to the resort in 10 minutes. Probably best to go in the AM or late PM as it gets very hot and humid at times. Many people went in the evenings and said it was much better heat wise and they ate at some of the restaurants. All in all, an excellent place to visit and a must do when in Huatulco.

Fun place to go to. Good jewelry shops. Got a great hair cut and streaks and a pedicure for very reasonable price. Great laundry. Get your stuff all pressed and bagged for your trip home.
Visited a cool shop where they wove cloth in full view and bought beautiful tablecloth.

Check out the church. It is beautiful and the town is very clean. Also, try the nachos at LaCantina.
