We just got back from a wonderful week at the Dreams Huatulco. Everything was great...the room, the food and the service. Delia in the reception area was so friendly and helpful with telling us about the area. We know her job was to get us to go for the vacation club presentation, she was very understanding when we said no, as were others as they asked as well. Delia continued to greet us each day and treat us as friends. Everyone was great and please people...have a good time but treat these workers with respect...they are NOT your servants. Not only are tips welcomed but please and thank you is deserved too. Shows are ok. They do have professional dancers. Definitely will go back!

Room Tip: We typically try to upgrade to ocean view when we get there but our tropical room was already assign...

We just got back from the Dreams and this was our 6th trip to Huatulco and our fourth time to the Dreams. I have never been to another area where the people are so happy, friendly and proud of where they live and work. The people really make this a special place to stay, relax and enjoy yourself and we were so happy to see so many of the same staff that we have come to know and appreciate over the years. There seemed to always be ample staff working and you never had to wait whether it was to get a table, your coffee topped up or a drink while you laid by the pool. We always looked forward to going for breakfast, lunch and supper every day for 2 weeks. We like to go to an a la carte for supper and we love that there are no reservations and you can go as many times as you like with no limitations. We liked all the restaurants but our favourites are Portifino’s and the Himitsu. Julio has been the Manager of Portifino for the past few years and does a wonderful job, is extremely friendly and makes you feel special and absolutely welcome. Julio also makes the best Spanish coffee and puts on a spectacular display so make sure you ask him to make you one. The service was exceptional and is the main reason that we come back. The servers always had a smile and were there right away to take your order, fill your glass and ask you if you needed anything. If you go, keep your eye out for Feliciano, Yordi, Lucia and Rogelio the Manager at the World café as they were all exceptional. We did go for supper off of the resort not because we were tired of the food but we also love the food at the Vienna restaurant. We had a beef fillet in a cognac peppercorn sauce and Red Snapper in a lemon vodka sauce and both dishes were exceptional. Some people complain that there is no swim-up bar but the pool service is wonderful and we never needed to wait for a drink or get up and get our own. During our trip one of the highlights of our trip was snorkeling with Elias Vasquez. We have gone out with Elias on previous trips and we make it a point to find him on the beach in-front of the Barcelo as soon as we arrive as he books up very quickly. Elias has his own boat the Texana (flying the Saskatchewan Roughrider flag) and will take you snorkeling, fishing, looking for whales or dolphins, touring one or all nine of the bays or for a walk on a secluded beach or any combination that you might want. If you are uncomfortable snorkeling don’t worry Elias comes into the water with you to find the fish and make sure everyone is OK. We caught fish, saw whales and literally hundreds of dolphins, We also snorkeled in 4 of the bays and walked on 2 of the secluded beaches that are only accessible by boat. We had so much fun that we tried going with Elias a second time but he was already all booked so he made arrangements for us to go with his brother Pilo Vasquez. Pilo was also great and we had another unforgettable day. It goes without saying that the weather in Huatulco is consistently the best that you will ever experience, where the sun shines every day and the temperatures stay around 30. Huatulco is safe and you are at ease walking the streets of La Crucecita were there are many little shops and restaurants. Of all of the places that we have ever gone we have never seen where cabs are so reasonable and the cost to go from the Dreams to downtown is under 4 dollars. We definitely will be going back to Huatulco and the Dreams and recommend it to our family and friends.

Flew out of St Louis on Frontier on January 10 – 17. Just about ½ hour late come but we left ½ hour early on the way back. Check in was quick and easy, rooms were not ready when we got there at 2 but by 3pm, we were in our room with our luggage in Building number 1. Rooms were just like last time, we even had a repeat guest banner on our door, a bottle of champagne, and some apples in our room. Mini fridge was stocked daily, we would leave a small tip with a note of what we wanted and we got that all but one day. Room was very quiet and had a hot tub. It was above the adult pool. Maid service was great and then they would turn down your bed later in the night and restock towels or anything else that you used.
We never had a problem finding a seat on the beach. The beach service was awesome thank you to the server that was always around. We did get some bites but we would stay there until about 6pm each day. There are some rocks, behind the red umbrella and the guy selling oysters, take a little trip over them and you can see some amazing waves and little crabs all over the place. I wanted to try the oysters but chickened out, maybe next time. Water was great, we brought tubes and would just float in them. They had beach volleyball every day. One day we were just watching them and seen this guy do a great barrel roll and hit the ball. Then about 10 minutes, he looked at his hand and was missing his wedding ring. He was just married that week there. So the wife and I decided to help after watching everyone on their hand and knees look for it. After about 5 minutes of looking, I actually found it and the guy was so glad. During that time another activities person came over and ask what we were doing, and our activities person say a new game, find the wedding ring.
The ATMs were a little difficult because our card from the US did not have a chip in it, still the old magnetic strip. First we tried the ATM just out from Dreams on the street, would not work at all. So we tried the ATM inside the hotel by the ceramics, it keep asking if we had a chip and I said no but it would always give us an error. So finally we tried the ATM out from Barceló hotel and that one finally worked. Just thought I would let people know this because I did not read about it before going down. Was getting a little scared that we would not be able to get some pesos.
We did go down town, La Crucecita, a couple of times, it was 38 peso to and from. Did our shopping there, just remember, that on Sunday not all of the shops are open. We found out the hard way. We also went to La Crema and was not disappointed any. They have awesome pizza and free Wi-Fi there.
Another wonderful trip to Dreams and Huatulco. Planning on coming back next year

Room Tip: For Quietness, Building one was great. Its about the adult pool and the Asian restaurant

Just go back on January 18th, 2014. Really enjoy the Dreams Resort experience, especially the 0referred Club. The service and staff are always over the top great. If you are looking for guaranteed weather, this is the place for you. Temperatures ranged from 28 to 33 everyday, and sometimes as high as 43 with the humid ex. Perfect days full of sunshine for morning to night, virtually no clouds. Having a la crates that you don't need to book ahead of time, makes the days so relaxing with no worries as to when you need to be ready for dinner.

Loved it and will return again!

Room Tip: If you really like to sit and look at the ocean, make sure you get an Ocean Front room.

we returned on Dec. 25 after 2 weeks. This was our first time to the Pacific side. We have been going to the Mayan riviera for the last 18 years. We loved it. Even though the color of the water is not the same and the sand is hot and coarse we enjoyed the very warm water. The warmer temperature on the Pacific side is better than the Caribbean. The resort was great. The food was very good, but I can't say it was over the top excellent. Magdelena at the pool bar was great. We always had to ask for the better quality alcohol which seems to be typical in Mexico. The staff was great. We really liked that every room had an ocean view. All in all we will be going back.
Our only complaint was with Sunwing and having to pickup and dropoff people in Calgary and Saskatoon. A real nuisance!!
