“Tourist trap”
Reviewed June 5, 2013

This is where the cruise ship comes in and where the tour boats depart from. If you want shopping, go to La Crucecita; if you want swimming or snorkeling, go to San Augustin or Bahia Maguey. I can't comment on the food at the Santa Cruz restaurants but I can say their buskers are pushy. Please don't judge Huatulco on Santa Cruz - take the 25 peso taxi ride to the Zocalo at La Crucecita and dine at the many Trip Advisor recommended restaurants there.

“largest marina and cruise ship stop”
Reviewed May 20, 2013

This bay has the only ocean draft deep enough to accommodate the huge crusie ships. We actually saw the Queen Mary II. The ship was at least 13 stories above sea level. Many of these ships come up from the Panama Canal. There are many restuarants, boutique shops, and tours available here. in the center of the park is Cafe Huatulco. Try some of the coffee, offered with a light menu. Here you will find a historical religion altar with a rich history located just off the water. There are many festivals with unique spectacular events during the Lenten season which brings all the people together fron the entire region with native ethnic local food, crafts, and shows/dances.

“Pity about the cruise liners...”
Reviewed May 12, 2013

This would be the safest beach on the coast if it were not for the cruise ships - and they have chosen it because it is a safe bay! So, the small and very popular beach is usually crowded - especially in the evenings and at weekends when locals swell the ranks. It is safe swimming even for the smallest of visitors but it is not always the cleanest. However, even if you don't swim here, with its restaurant and café tables on the beach, and the usually calm air at dusk, it is a good place to hang out and enjoy people watching of a Mexican evening.

“Beautiful Santa Cruz Beach”
Reviewed May 10, 2013

Good safe swimming. Go when the cruise ships are not in. Do not pay extra for beach loungers. You will be pounced on when you arrive but when you have made your mind up which bar/beach you will sit at you will be left alone
