“THE place to BE when you want it ALL!!!”
Reviewed July 26, 2014

Cafe Juanita owned and operated by the academic, artisitc, philanthropic and gorgeous Jane Bauer where it is obvious she personally takes pride in every aspect of your experience. Up above the ground, shaded by lovely trees we sit in little balconies taking in the sights below right across from the auditorium and steps from the beach. I've gone alone many times to have a breakfast of a multitude of ingredients in a perfectly fresh omelette. Lunch with friends, especially on a Friday for her famous Friday Fish Tacos (which as recently taken to the streets in Frida's Fish Taco truck) - what a great idea!

The ultimate experience is her dinner specials (I call them her house parties) that recognize the current calendar day such as Chinese New Year's, Valentine's Day, Thanksgiving where people vie for reservations, dress the part, partake in lovely activities like flying candle boxes, reading poetry (the academic touch), limericks, discovering their chinese horoscope. It's my experience that it becomes a dinner party for 18 hosted by the seriously talented Jane. Her dinner menus vary with the day's special (with options) divided into courses and are expertly prepared by her talented staff. If simply stated, Cafe Juanita's is an experience that you will want to be part of over and over again. Did I say that it is so popular, you must remember to get a reservation? Treat yourself to one of the TOP experiences in Huatulco, you will remember it forever.

Shared within the intimate restaurant is Jane's Chocolate & Chilies cooking school and event catering, The Eye Magazine of which Jane is the editor, a variety of must have indigenous items, books in the quickest turnaround library, information on what is going on (often one of her own philantropic events that raise funds for real people that get all of the proceeds) information and tickets for upcoming community events. Did I mention that she is YOGA Huatulco at 8 a.m. infront of the ocean right beside her restuarant. She is a going concern, an authentic perspective, a Huatulcan legend and her restaurant demonstrates such HIGH standards in every bite you savour.

“Glad we found this one!”
Reviewed March 29, 2014

The rickety stairs to climb up to the Cafe Juanita are a poor intro to a great find. Interesting cuisine with influences from different continents, fresh and well prepared, and at very competitive prices, we enjoyed an excellent dinner this week. Fresh tuna, octopus, salads, warm bread and wine by the glass proved a fine ending to another delightful day in this village. The hostess was gracious and attentive and although the menu changes but once a month, we plan on lunching there this week.

“Good restaurant and cooking classes too”
Reviewed March 23, 2014

Cafe Juanita is a great little restaurant. We had dinner there a couple of times with a party of 6. The entrees and salads were always great. I took part in one of the cooking classes that was lots of fun besides being informative. Jane is a gracious and engaging hostess

“Great sandwich, nice hangout!”
Reviewed March 12, 2014

We had the Indonesian chicken baguette sandwich and we are glad wevdecided to share as it was a big meal. No garnish or frills so don't expect a lot presentation-wise but it did come with spicy pickled veggies which we added to our sandwich. It was delicious. We also had a mango soothie and coffee, which were also nice. The second story balcony looks on to the centre square and is great for people watching.

“Nice lunch place”

Went to Cafe Juanita's for lunch. Had the chicken sandwich. It was good. Nice to look at the market while waiting for our lunch. Want to go for fish taco Fridays.
