“The Grand Mayan”
Reviewed December 16, 2013

My wife and I and two close friends spent two weeks in a two bed master suite at The Grand Mayan in Acapulco. The apartment was spacious, very clean and had wonderful views over the Pacific.
All the staff were fantastic and could not do enough for you, it was our 30th wedding celebrations, the front desk recommended a restaurant, booked it and arranged for a cake at the end of the evening.
There is some work going on along side the hotel grounds, this did not interfere at all.
We booked with Roberto Alarcon to pick us up from the airport and we did some trips. One to Acapulco and the cliff divers the other to an historic sight with a stop in a typical Mexican market town. Roberto is excellent his English is very good he is a passionate Mexican with a large knowledge of the area and it's history. I would recommend people use Roberto and his brother

Just got back from Acapulco and I cant stop thinking about what a great time I had. If you like nice, big, clean and well decorated rooms, this resort will delight you. Service was awesome from the front desk , to the snack bars, to the maid service. We fell in love with our taxi driver Francisco Varajas, He took us wherever we wanted and patiently waited for us to shop
and eat. Diamante is the newest part of Acapulco, I never felt any type of danger (some friends had made comments before we left) I met lots of beautiful employees of the resort like Rene at the Palace's pool. Everyone was very friendly & polite so take lots of Pesos to tip them, they really work hard. The grand Mayan is under construction I cant wait to go back to see what the addition looks like. Until then the Palace's pool is much bigger. There was only one thing missing at the Grand Mayan,,,, It was our 28th wedding anniversary (we mentioned it several times). but the resort didn't make any attempt to recognize that special day. We travel every year for our anniversary and maybe we've been spoiled at other resorts. But I thought they would offer something, flowers? champagne ? a cake ? anything would have been nice. I loved the resort so much I'm still going to give them 5 stars

Room Tip: We stayed in a 2 bedroom without the ocean view, they offered to move us after the 2nd night but we...

We had a great experience at the Mayan Palace Hotel, it was clean, beautiful and the service was very good. The beach and pool area was super nice and fun. I enjoyed the lazy river, mini water park and water slides. There were so many fun things to do there, absolutely add the value of staying here. The location was great a shopping center is just 5 to 10 mins. away.

My family of five (2 adults, 9,8 and 5 year old children) just returned from a week long vacation at the Grand Mayan in Acapulco. This was our 4th vacation to Mexico; first in Acapulco. We have appreciated all of our vacations in Mexico, but we found this one to Acapulco a "stand out". First, the Grand Mayan property maintained it's standard: clean, friendly service, lovely grounds, etc. The BEACH was perfect...warm water, smooth sand, lots of beach offered activities. My children loved the bogey and surf boards. The food was OK, but no complaints. The highlight of our trip was the personal tour and the beautiful and historic city of Acapulco. We had the pleasure of being escorted by a wonderful, English speaking gentleman by the name of Benjamin Alarcon. (benjamin.alarcon@yahoo.com. 011-521-744-1817-424). Benjamin is a licensed and insured Tour Guide and provides outstanding service. I contacted Benjamin prior to my trip to Acapulco after reading the MANY fantastic reviews found on trip advisor. Benjamin and his brother met my family at the airport, took us to a local store for groceries and then to our hotel. He available immediately by telephone and accommodated our requests during the entire trip. Benjamin showed great knowledge of his beloved Acapulco and highlighted so much history and beauty and interesting facts about Acapulco. Usually my children are more interested in how quickly they can return to the water, than a tour, but Benjamin's kind demeanor and delivery captured the attention of my entire family. My children have stated since that the tour made the trip to Acapulco their favorite vacation! Please, consider Acapulco when planning a vacation. And, please consider using the services of Mr. Benjamin Alarcon if you are in need to transportation, activity coordination or a fantastic tour of the city. Blessings.

The Grand Mayan was beautiful, but what really made our trip was Roberto Alarcon! He was welcoming and treated all of us like we were a part of his extended family, not just another tourist family. He obviously loves his hometown and was always excited to show us the sights. The Grand Mayan turtle camp is not to be missed - we were able to see just-hatched turtles within the camp and saw 3 female turtles dig their holes and lay their eggs at night. The employees of the camp allowed our kids to dig up the eggs the next day, too. A priceless experience!! Be sure to contact Roberto for your travel/destination needs.

We visited Acapulco in early October 2013. The city has already returned to normalcy after one of the most catastrophic storm in its history just about a month before our arrival. As usual, we stayed at the Grand Mayan Resort. There was hardly any damage left by the storm in this complex. Apparently they did a good job in cleaning up after the storm. We have been to Grand Mayan before in 2007, we were very happy with everything then and this time our impression of this place and the entire staff was the same. The staff (Reception Desk, Room Service, Concierge, etc.) all worked diligently to accommodate our needs. We really appreciated Reception Staff in their effort to confirm our flight home with Volaris Airlines when its website wasn't functional. We visited their desk 3 times regarding this issue and they did not show any sign of impatience at all! However, we have one comment about the room cleanliness (we can only give it an AVERAGE rating), we think room service people should perform THOROUGH CLEANING on the daily basis. The balcony & the 'foot wash pool', the floor of the bedroom, restroom, and the kitchen and kitchen counter top all looked very dirty, sticky even after the room maids finished their daily route! For hygiene reason, the restroom, the toilet bowl and the floor all need special cleaning (disinfecting if necessary!) We are not saying that room service people don't do a good job. We think that they only do what they are instructed to do. We hope the management would look into this issue.

I love this hotel!! Everyone was very friendly, the food and drinks were always good. The pool areas were very clean and you couldn't beat the beach nearby. I went in December and nights were always warm...just relaxing and beautiful.
