Nice accommodations. Very friendly staff. Beautiful beach Use David Alcaraz for your tours and driver to restaurants.... He is the very best... He works very hard to please everyone and has a great personality.

We are back from our trip and had a wonderful time. It seems like I was preparing for so long and our vacation simply flew by! We were in Acapulco from February 16-23-2013. The first thing that pops into my mind as I begin is the people. I have to say how lovely and nice everyone there was - we felt so welcome. After deciding to take a trip to Acapulco the next order of business was to figure out what to see. I've never booked anyone on line before and so was leery as it was my first experience ever doing so.. I checked in several sources and Sebastian's name kept surfacing - I decided to try to connect - it was EASY! - when we arrived at the airport we were happy to see a smiling face waiting for us and a sign with our names on it, making us feel safe and cared for upon our arrival (more later on him). Our driver took us to the grocery store and even helped us navigate through finding the items we wanted.

Grand Mayan staff were very friendly and check-in and check-out were quick and easy. With an 8 and 10yr old, we spent a great deal of time in the lazy river, children's pool, and main pool. We also took the hotel shuttle to the Mayan Palace and their pools, they were also wonderful. Poolside service was good and not overwelming from the staff. Food was wonderful in the Cafe Del Lago. We did eat in the room and had their pizza delivery service. The Kitchen was nice but we had an issue with the microwave that they replaced quickly. The kitchen was sparse: It would have been nice if they would have had some salt and pepper and paper towels in the kitchen as well as a few more bowls for serving. The beach was awesome! Do not swim straight out from the hotel, move right as the surf takes swimmers out too far. Great boogie boarding and for making sand castles. Wear your shoes to the beach as the sand is hot hot hot.

We would also like to thank at the same time our driver guide Sebastian Hernandez of Acapulcoforall.com for making our Mexico dream vacation come true. -I know there are other tour guides in the area but he made us feel very comfortable, safe and very much as a welcomed visitor to his country- We had an experience we will never forget from a guide who knows the city, culture and people, who gives a prespective that is unique and informed. Reviewers comments always stated, “…he made our trip!” I wondered what that meant, now I know! He drives a comfortable Suburban, air-conditioned & uncluttered compared to the other cabs you’ll see on the Grand Mayan Acapulco. We took several tours with Sebastian that really made our trip one of the fondest memories of all. We took his snorkeling trip where we went to several spots and got to see many fish as well as a turtle. (We really enjoyed this day out on the water). He took us on City Highlights tour Acapulco on Sunday (when was no so much traffic) we were able to see the Chapel of Peace, the cliff divers, the Diego Rivera Mural (telling the story to us that made it much more meaningful) and the Flamingo hotel. He has incredible knowledge of the history of his City which he shared with us and was awesome that we have so many wonderful family photos, he also he took us to the handycraft goverment store and my husband bought me a lovely gift. We love trying new local foods arts and crafts of Mexico are very important to us as is the history and stories that come with visiting a foreign country. I would not have wanted to drive there, much safer and more fun with Sebastian. Finally, we did also do the EcoTour wich Sebastian arranged with his friend Felix and was a gem of a trip on our own private catamaran boat with mineral clay facials, nice snacks following at a restaurant with some local flair. Sebastian is problably one of the best guides i have ever seen.

Overall, the Grand Mayan was excellent and my husband and I highly recommend Sebastian especially for first time visitors.

We just returned from our annual holiday in Acapulco. We stayed at The Sea Garden which is right on the beach outside of Acapulco. It is a smaller resort with two buildings. One has two floors, the other has three. We have stayed here before so we chose the two storey building. It is very peaceful with a great pool. The service is wonderful & the staff is great. We stay here because we are beach people, & the beach is a short walk accross the street. The hotel supplys umbrellas & chairs. Just beautiful. Nice restuarant on site. While we were there we reconnected with our friend & tour guide, Roberto Alarcon. Roberto & his brother Benjamin are top notch guys, who speak perfect english & go out of their way to help . They offer great tours, & everything is safe & beautiful. Roberto has become like a member of our family. They will be more than glad to pick you up from the airport & take you to your hotel. You can reach Roberto at robertoalrey@yahoo.com.mx Rest assured, you will be in good hands. Jon & Judy.

Room Tip: Rooms on second floor.

Last month we returned from a two week trip to the Grand Mayan Acapulco. The hotel was great. Excellent service, not too crowded, fantastic rooms. Exactly what you would expect from a high quality resort. The only slight negatives are overall food quality, it was just average, and the location. The hotel is in the Diamante area, there isn't a whole lot that you can walk to from the hotel. There are a few good food options just outside of the property that are worth checking out.

One of the highlights of the trip was the service provided by Roberto Alarcon. We found Roberto through this site and would highly recommend him to anyone. Roberto was extremely knowledgeable about Acapulco and he clearly has a passion for his City and ensuring that his clients have a great experience. Within a day of meeting him, talking with Roberto was like being with an old friend. He really went out of his way to make sure that we were taken care of, from taking us to Walmart upon arrival (which is a necessity), to making dinner reservations for us, and even offering to take my wife to the doctor or bring over medicine when he heard that she was feeling ill. Roberto's prices were very fair and he was 100% reliable. Whatever type of experience you are looking for he will make sure to meed your needs.

I was here in December and it is the most fantastic Hotel. From the moment that you walk through the magnificent entrance, it is certainly a sight for sore eyes having come from the grey skies of England in December. Once in the foyer, you are transported to another World, the common areas and the vistas are superb. Grounds are kept first class and the staff are so friendly. It is, first class all the way, rooms are large with comfortable huge beds and everything and more that you would expect of a resort of this calibre. The beach goes on for miles and apparently, the sea is always warm which it was at that time. I walked every morning barefoot for about an hour savouring every moment kicking through the water, just loved it.x

Room Tip: Try and get rooms overlooking the ocean, mine came with its own pool.

This hotel is FABULOUS!!! The pool and kids area are amazing. Two-bedroom Grand Master Suite easily fits up to 10 guests (with privacy in both rooms and living area). Cribs are available upon request.

The ocean was deceitful and I'm grateful they have lifeguards on staff that saved my husband.

Definitely buy your food at Wal-Mart or Comercial Mexicana, just a short drive away. If you need something in a hurry, the hotel bus will take you to Oxxo just down the street for free. Restaurants are very overpriced. Also, if you want free internet service, go to Starbuck's (next to Comercial Mexicana) - it will cost you less to pay for coffee (including unlimited free internet) than the 1-hour internet fee at the hotel.

If you buy from the vendors on the beach - bargain them WAY down! Their prices are MUCH higher than in the markets in Acapulco or elsewhere on the beach. For example - bathing suit cover-up started at MX$280, came down to MX$200; found same garment at market in Acapulco for MX$130. So if you keep bargaining, they should come down to about half the price. Same with hair braiding for kids - they overcharge at the Grand Mayan by at least 50%.

The balcony wading pools on the golf-view side never get much sun, so they are VERY cold. But the kids still had fun at the end of the day.

This was an amazing resort with exceptional service staff. You won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: Request ocean view if you can.

Clean and spacious. Pool and great lazy river are on beach front. Nice warm bathwater sea! Horse riding and quads available. For those used to Mayan properties this is also designed like an office park on the beltway, but is comfortable and functional. The self catering units are not as well appointed as the same units at Mayan Riviera in that the kitchen is smaller, with a half sized fridge and no oven, dishwasher or washer/dryer and without a kettle ( bring your own if you like tea). Our toaster, stove top and coffee maker were non functional on arrival but were replaced with working appliances immediately. Restaurants and bars are good but very overpriced (50% to 100%) by comparison with Acapulco city. Staff may be underpaid as heavy tipping is expected. The in house store is poor compared to Mayan Riviera. It is better to take a cab to Walmart when you arrive to get your food and drinks for the week. Entertainment is mostly after 9pm, adult oriented and centres on selling alcohol. The Mexican Fiesta is good value for money. Kids club is not as good as those found at all inclusive resorts. At booking ask for a sea facing unit otherwise you will be accomodated with a golf view. Excellent bay cruises run by Jerry Alonso (ask for him at reception or timeshare sales) and most wonderful custom and personalised Acapulco and regional tours and provided by Roberto Estrada at very reasonable prices. He knows everything about Guerero and Acapulco (ask for unit 8 at the concierge or call Roberto on 0447441225595 or04474419711. He also does airport pick up and drop off. Acapulco os a wonderful place which may be forgotten by the mainstream tourist industry.

Room Tip: Even numbers are sea facing. Odd numbers are Golf view. If you do not ask for sea facing at booking...
