Overall was good. The hotel facilities for the price are good. The rooms are clean and the pools are decent too. They let me checkout one our later which was very nice.
The problem and the only reason why I would not stay there again is because they have their "private beach" where you can't even drink or eat anything that you didn't buy in the hotel. You have so many guards around you taking care of it. I have stayed in the best resorts in Cancun and they don't care about that.
The other problem is that sometimes they will play loud "cumbia" music in the pool area which is annoying.
If you have low budged, want a great location and you are not used to have great customer service then this hotel is for you.

We spent five days in Acapulco in early April visiting with our son. I would not have picked Acapulco except that it is the most convenient beach to Mexico City, where he is living. It turned out to be a good choice, but with some reservation.

I spent a lot of time looking for a hotel online. I decided on the Crowne Plaza because all of the hotels on the Diamante seemed too out of the way. The Crowne Plaza's location was excellent with many restaurants and bars within walking distance.

We chose a Baja Suite and requested an upper floor, ended up on 23 with an awesome oceanfront view. Unfortunately, the hotel revised our reservation and increased the daily rate prior to our arrival! Fortunately I had checked the reservation the night before traveling and was able to have it corrected at check-in with the assistance of our driver (and copies of my original reservation!)

We were not offered an all-inclusive option and when we inquired about it, were informed that it was only available to "nacionals" (we are Americans). It turned out to be a good choice as we opted for the "breakfast included" package and sampled a different local restaurant each evening for dinner.

PROS:
Location - lots of places to walk to in a populated area, felt safe
Security very visible
Impressive entryway
Everything very clean
Adult pool area on third floor very relaxing, great service from Jose!
Courteous, attentive staff
Free internet
Excellent breakfast buffet - skipped lunch most days
In the Baja suite - a small fridge and coffee maker
A free bottle of water provided per guest per day

CONS:
Saturday evenings there is loud music on the beach ALL NIGHT LONG!!! (Didn't have any trouble the other nights)
A number of the staff do not speak English, making it hard to communicate

As many other reviewers have pointed out, Acapulco has primarily become a vacation spot for Mexicans. We were lucky to have our son with us who spoke Spanish; if not we might have experienced some frustration with anything more than very basic communications.

For those who do not speak Spanish, I'd highly recommend taking the Gray Line shuttle from the airport to your hotel. You can reserve online prior to arrival. Our guide Joel was waiting for us right outside Customs, gave us a great tour during the ride, and accompanied us inside to make sure we were checked in properly. He also called to inquire if we wanted a return ride, which we gladly accepted. It was well worh the reasonable cost! (They also have some great guided tours available).

Room Tip: Ask for an upper floor Double-check your reservation before arrival Bring earplugs to try to muffl...

Keep in mind that this is not the best hotel in acapulco. The best ones are way more expensive (obviously). That said its a very nice hotel . The building is very nice and makes you feel like youre in a higher quality hotel which is pleasant. Everything is very clean and the staff was always glad to help and very polite.

My only two complains arent big. One is the bed was probably a bit hard. I had a back injury and felt slightly uncomfortable. My girlfriend however didnt mind the mattress at all. The other one is the food. We only ordered room service one tiime and the meat in our sandwich tasted funny. There are however manygood restaurants around so you dont really need the hotel's. The rstaurant across the street was a great place to have breakfast and prces were pretty low.

Its perfect of youre on a budget

Was totally impressed with Acapulco. The Crowne was perfect. The service was fantastic. Yes buffet was limited but we also enjoyed snacks delivered to our beach chair. Location was great. Casino across the street. Free internet and safe. I agree that for children entertainment was limited. I would definitely go back to this hotel and recommend it.

Me and my sister are at the Crowne Plaza right now and that is where I am writing from.... Tons of issues that we would like families to be aware of (especially those that speak English only)

1. Trouble getting interconnected rooms, despite having called the hotel directly with our request before travel
2. ABSOLUTELY NO kids activities
3. No entertainment of any kind. Very difficult to keep kids busy and occupied, especially in the evenings
4. No kid friendly food at the limited buffet
5. They promise 1 fine dining experience a week at one of their 2 restaurants - guess what? One restaurant is for ages 12 and up the other is closed
6. Worst of all - no snack bar, the kids want some nachos or a light meal and there is NOTHING.
7. Last but not the least.... We are travelling with an infant but the rooms don't have refrigerators or microwaves for us to store milk or snacks so when I inquired about options at the front desk they ended up charging us for 2 fridges through our stay when we only need one..... Simple conversations and requests are tough so don't even attempt more than a "hola"

We appreciate your comments of your recent stay with us. The Hotel serves snacks by the pool such as nachos, hot dogs, pop corns and even ice creams for kids when they are requested. we also have a special Kid Menu in every Restaurant of the Hotel, even room service. We are sorry to hear that not of these amenities were informed to you by our waiters. As we run a hotel, our rooms have no refrigerators not even microwaves as you will find them usually in a condo o time share property. thank you for your comments which help us improve our service.

Although I had an amazing experience in Acapulco, I would have to say that I wish I would of researched hotels more before deciding on Crowne Plaza. The location was proximate to the night life of the city but the strict rules as far as guests in rooms was ridiculous. As a frequent stop for spring breakers, it was unrealistic for the hotel to observe such a strict policy on having a wrist band before being allowed to take the elevator up to any of the rooms. While the pool area was awesome, and the party scene was ideal, one issue was not being able to enjoy the beach. This may be a city wide problem for Acapulco, but the amount of vendors who bother you on the beach is absolutely insane. I don't understand why the security is not on the beach protecting its guests from being annoyed for money, instead of having them guard the elevators like the crowne plaza is an exclusive club.
