“NOT KID FRIENDLY”
Reviewed March 16, 2013

Me and my sister are at the Crowne Plaza right now and that is where I am writing from.... Tons of issues that we would like families to be aware of (especially those that speak English only)

1. Trouble getting interconnected rooms, despite having called the hotel directly with our request before travel
2. ABSOLUTELY NO kids activities
3. No entertainment of any kind. Very difficult to keep kids busy and occupied, especially in the evenings
4. No kid friendly food at the limited buffet
5. They promise 1 fine dining experience a week at one of their 2 restaurants - guess what? One restaurant is for ages 12 and up the other is closed
6. Worst of all - no snack bar, the kids want some nachos or a light meal and there is NOTHING.
7. Last but not the least.... We are travelling with an infant but the rooms don't have refrigerators or microwaves for us to store milk or snacks so when I inquired about options at the front desk they ended up charging us for 2 fridges through our stay when we only need one..... Simple conversations and requests are tough so don't even attempt more than a "hola"

We appreciate your comments of your recent stay with us. The Hotel serves snacks by the pool such as nachos, hot dogs, pop corns and even ice creams for kids when they are requested. we also have a special Kid Menu in every Restaurant of the Hotel, even room service. We are sorry to hear that not of these amenities were informed to you by our waiters. As we run a hotel, our rooms have no refrigerators not even microwaves as you will find them usually in a condo o time share property. thank you for your comments which help us improve our service.

Although I had an amazing experience in Acapulco, I would have to say that I wish I would of researched hotels more before deciding on Crowne Plaza. The location was proximate to the night life of the city but the strict rules as far as guests in rooms was ridiculous. As a frequent stop for spring breakers, it was unrealistic for the hotel to observe such a strict policy on having a wrist band before being allowed to take the elevator up to any of the rooms. While the pool area was awesome, and the party scene was ideal, one issue was not being able to enjoy the beach. This may be a city wide problem for Acapulco, but the amount of vendors who bother you on the beach is absolutely insane. I don't understand why the security is not on the beach protecting its guests from being annoyed for money, instead of having them guard the elevators like the crowne plaza is an exclusive club.

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Crowne Plaza Feb 12th 2013 for an all inclusive 7 night holiday.
We were a liitle leary, because it had been 25 yrs since our last visit to Acapulco.
Wow, we were glad we went, and choose this hotel for our stay.

The hotel is centrally located on the strip. The staff went out of their way to make sure we were happy. Our room was on the 21st floor, with the most beautiful view of Acapulco Bay. The room was clean, the beds were comfy, plenty of fresh towels everyday, and lots of hot water.
The maids would even wash out our wine glasses every day, which we had brought from home.

The pools were great. Our fav. was the one with the waterfalls and swim up bar. Food, I thought was better than a Riu I was at a month earlier. There is an older crowd there (maybe 60 plus), but we met people our own age (30's-40's), so it is good for all ages.

Walking the streets at night for nitelife (bar closes early at hotel), we felt safe, 2 girls walking home late at night (on the strip).

We were really impressed with our hotel choice. And we are considering it for our next years girls trip.

Room Tip: Try for an upper floor to enjoy the view of the bay.

I have visited the outdoor buffet at the Crowne Plaza about three times in the past two years. The salads and bread are wonderful. However, the main courses are disappointing. I tried the barbecue buffet on my first night in Acapulco this year. The beef was overcooked and tasted like shoe leather. The chicken (who knows what part of the bird it was from?) was burned and had very little meat. To make matters worse, the smoke from the grill was overpowering. I visited on another night a week later for the Italian buffet. The pasta dishes were dreadful. The cream sauce on the fettucine alfredo was like cloudy white water, with almost no cheese or taste. The desserts may look divine, but they are absolutely dreadful. The baked goods (from cheesecake to cupcakes) are dry and tasteless. They even had some type of pink pudding that looked and tasted like Pepto Bismol. In addition, they always have a terrible lounge lizard who can't sing and is far too loud for dinner. I pity the people who are stuck at the Crowne Plaza for the all-inclusive deal. There are so many great restaurants in Acapulco, so it is best to avoid the Crowne Plaza's buffets, even though they are inexpensive. They have a more formal Italian restaurant, I'Pagglicaci, and it is a bit more expensive but certainly better than the buffet. The chicken breast is not bad.

In my last review for the crown I said I wouldn't do all inclusive again. But here we are again. We stayed for 2wks jan29 to feb12. Although there has been a definite improvement in the all inclusive, it still leaves a lot to be desired. I think that they could take from lessons from the all inclusive places in the Dominican. Breakfast and lunch is ok but dinners need a lot if improvement, especially those that are downstairs. The dinners in the lobby are certainly better quality.
Service has certainly improved. It was excellent by the pool and on the beach. Carlos was our favorite waiter by the pool and gennaro went out of his way at breakfast and lunch.
There has been some renovation. The rooms are impeccable. There are many lounges and umbrellas available. Last time I had to get up by 7 to get a lounge never an umbrella.

My worst complaint is that the captain and chef catered to the requests of certain groups. Whenever my husband and I asked for the same thing we were told it wasn't available. I don't know if tipping was the issue in this case, although my husband tipped very well, maybe not those people in particular. I think that if special requests are filled it should be for all not just for special groups. I did bring this to their attention.

We felt very safe here but did not venture far from the hotel.

We enjoyed the music in the lobby every night.

We will be coming back because the acapulco sun draws us here. The weather is guaranteed.

I forgot to mention that Marina was very charming. Her stunning beauty was a welcoming addition to the staff.

My husband and I are from Toronto, Canada and stayed at the Crowne Plaza from February 5th to February 12th. We both love Acapulco and have visited 10 times.

The Crowne Plaza is a wonderful hotel. It is very clean and the staff are just amazing. They go out of their way to make sure your stay is enjoyable. The food was very good as well. There was a great variety. Lots of fruit and vegetables. The waiters were always at our table asking if we needed something. They would pull the chair out for you to be seated.

The hotel was very clean and the rooms were clean as well.

I have been mentioning Acapulco to all of our friends, telling them that the weather is guaranteed. It is always sunny.

We will be visiting Acapulco again next year.

If you like archecture, the hotel building is a very cool 80's 28 floor architectural one-of-a-kind masterpeice. The bathrooms are a little bit worn, but that is ok, because the price was very good and the room had a balcony with a nice beach view and free in-room WiFi. Oh, they had three different pool areas, 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors. See if you can find all of them. We enjoyed each one. The hotel staff was super friendly, front desk, housekeeper, pool service and bellman. On our last night, they turned the large open air lobby into a dinner and dancing event with a live musician. It was nice to see the adult couples enjoying a dance from the upper floors balcony. The hotel has a secured entrance driveway, it felt very safe and the hotel location was close walking to reasturants and shopping.

Room Tip: call and try asking about special rates such as AAA
