I have visited the outdoor buffet at the Crowne Plaza about three times in the past two years. The salads and bread are wonderful. However, the main courses are disappointing. I tried the barbecue buffet on my first night in Acapulco this year. The beef was overcooked and tasted like shoe leather. The chicken (who knows what part of the bird it was from?) was burned and had very little meat. To make matters worse, the smoke from the grill was overpowering. I visited on another night a week later for the Italian buffet. The pasta dishes were dreadful. The cream sauce on the fettucine alfredo was like cloudy white water, with almost no cheese or taste. The desserts may look divine, but they are absolutely dreadful. The baked goods (from cheesecake to cupcakes) are dry and tasteless. They even had some type of pink pudding that looked and tasted like Pepto Bismol. In addition, they always have a terrible lounge lizard who can't sing and is far too loud for dinner. I pity the people who are stuck at the Crowne Plaza for the all-inclusive deal. There are so many great restaurants in Acapulco, so it is best to avoid the Crowne Plaza's buffets, even though they are inexpensive. They have a more formal Italian restaurant, I'Pagglicaci, and it is a bit more expensive but certainly better than the buffet. The chicken breast is not bad.

In my last review for the crown I said I wouldn't do all inclusive again. But here we are again. We stayed for 2wks jan29 to feb12. Although there has been a definite improvement in the all inclusive, it still leaves a lot to be desired. I think that they could take from lessons from the all inclusive places in the Dominican. Breakfast and lunch is ok but dinners need a lot if improvement, especially those that are downstairs. The dinners in the lobby are certainly better quality.
Service has certainly improved. It was excellent by the pool and on the beach. Carlos was our favorite waiter by the pool and gennaro went out of his way at breakfast and lunch.
There has been some renovation. The rooms are impeccable. There are many lounges and umbrellas available. Last time I had to get up by 7 to get a lounge never an umbrella.

My worst complaint is that the captain and chef catered to the requests of certain groups. Whenever my husband and I asked for the same thing we were told it wasn't available. I don't know if tipping was the issue in this case, although my husband tipped very well, maybe not those people in particular. I think that if special requests are filled it should be for all not just for special groups. I did bring this to their attention.

We felt very safe here but did not venture far from the hotel.

We enjoyed the music in the lobby every night.

We will be coming back because the acapulco sun draws us here. The weather is guaranteed.

I forgot to mention that Marina was very charming. Her stunning beauty was a welcoming addition to the staff.

My husband and I are from Toronto, Canada and stayed at the Crowne Plaza from February 5th to February 12th. We both love Acapulco and have visited 10 times.

The Crowne Plaza is a wonderful hotel. It is very clean and the staff are just amazing. They go out of their way to make sure your stay is enjoyable. The food was very good as well. There was a great variety. Lots of fruit and vegetables. The waiters were always at our table asking if we needed something. They would pull the chair out for you to be seated.

The hotel was very clean and the rooms were clean as well.

I have been mentioning Acapulco to all of our friends, telling them that the weather is guaranteed. It is always sunny.

We will be visiting Acapulco again next year.

If you like archecture, the hotel building is a very cool 80's 28 floor architectural one-of-a-kind masterpeice. The bathrooms are a little bit worn, but that is ok, because the price was very good and the room had a balcony with a nice beach view and free in-room WiFi. Oh, they had three different pool areas, 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors. See if you can find all of them. We enjoyed each one. The hotel staff was super friendly, front desk, housekeeper, pool service and bellman. On our last night, they turned the large open air lobby into a dinner and dancing event with a live musician. It was nice to see the adult couples enjoying a dance from the upper floors balcony. The hotel has a secured entrance driveway, it felt very safe and the hotel location was close walking to reasturants and shopping.

Room Tip: call and try asking about special rates such as AAA

Just got back after spending 18 nights here. Once again I am very pleased with this Hotel. The check-in an check-out lasted all of 5 minutes total for both. I really can't say enough about the service we get here, from the pool boy to the pool waiters and restaurant staff. Everyone went out of their way. Again, as always, tips go along way. God willing we will be back again in 2014.

One of my fav's of all the hotels in Acapulco ( and there are many ) not the most glamerous but nice rooms at a reasonible rate with breath taking sea views and nice pools for all the family. The hotel is a bit dated and could do with a lick of paint but having stayed in over 25% of the hotels mysrlf and visited another 20+ but only to look around them this is by far up ther with the top 20

I am at the CP now for a one week.. When i booked this with my travel agent backin Canada, i wanted an all inclusive, but when i got here, their information sheets said that it is a semi all inclusive which means 3 meals a day, no snack bars, and the bars are free till 11 p.m. after which time you must pay. They take your room number for everything. As i read earlier about the a/c and the elevators, i found non of that happenng this week. The elevators are fast, the room was almost too cold. If you are traveling to Acapulco, this is a nice place but as this is my first time here in this country i have nothing else to compare it too. Enjoy!

Room Tip: Choose a room higher up in the building if possible. YOu are further from the street noise and th ba...
