We were there on a Friday, 3 Feb 2006, and it was a wonderful show--incredible to me. We stayed for two shows. There are more shows on the weekend nights and the last of the evening apparently is done with divers holding the torches extinguished as they hit the water. We did not stay for that, maybe next time. Or, possibly negotiate for a boat out to watch at night.

The higher platform gives a view of the entire area of the sea into which the brave dove. If you go lower, you must lean over others including children and short people who should be in front anyway.

Advice......don't forget your camera or binoculars, as I did!

Something you must see, I went for the last show, @ 9pm. Costs $3 for the viewing platform, by far the best view. At night they jump with torches and the area is very well lit. $3 cab ride from anywhere in acapulco, if you try hard you can get there for two. I say a definte must go.

Everyone has heard about them -- so if you're in Acapulco, you need to go. The show takes place once in the afternoon and then a couple times at night. My husband and I just paid the $3 to watch from the observation deck -- we did not eat there. The view was totally fine. The whole show lasts about 25 minutes. We went to the 7:30 show and the sun was just starting to go down; so we didn't have sun in our eyes. It was perfect and made for some great pictures. With the $3 you also get a drink -- beer, soda, or water. It's just something you need to see. There is also a very nice (but pricey) silver jewelry shop there, but it is only open during the day.

Everyone says it is the one thing you must do in Acapulco. Um, ok, maybe. but I would suggest that taking a cab to La Perla (the restaurant built inot the cliffs that offers the best view) may not be the best choice. Charge will be about 15 bucks a person that will include two drinks, but you'll probably only be there for about 30-40 minutes so not everyone will be able to toss em back that quickly. $30 bucks or so will get you dinner but I saw that the folks behind me seemed to have the equivilent of "good" airline food. Better off just going to the viewing platform and tip the divers as they come up (going to La Perla won't save you from this process either). There is a boat that will charge you an arm and leg to get up and real close, but the water is a bit rough at the mouth of the cove and the idling boat can be pretty shaky stuff.
