We just cruised with Princess through the Panama canal for Christmas 2010. One of our ports was Acapulco which we had visited on another cruise and made a ship's tour. This time we watched other cruise sites and found an independent tour company, www.acapulcorosiestours.com. We toured in a van with 3 couples with Oscar who took us all over the city. We went to the chapel of Peace at the top of the tallest mountain, the Los Flamingo's Hotel, the local Sunday markets, a square where families gather after services, the murals of Frida Kahlo's mentor, Diego Rivera. And we saw the LaQebrada cliff divers. This was the most economical day and we ended with a tour of the port side fort Acapulco. We had an air conditioned van and bottled drinks along the way with a souvenir fan for the 80+ degree sunny weather and 78% humidity. The only uncomfortable part was the standing in the hot sun and waiting for the divers (10) to decide to jump. It was very crowded with tourists at this time of day. We had seen them before on a previous tour from the hotel nearby,so this wasn't that important to us. Great tour at about $35 per person. Don't miss this tour company!

We visited Acapulco for 1 day as part of a cruise and we were glad we went with Rosie's tours because we got to see lots of the highlights of the city. Our guide was Victor and he was really informative and a good guide and we liked that he gave us insight into the real Acapulco. We visited the chapel on the hill, numerous view points, La Quebrada, the Zocolo, Diego Rivera's murals, and Los flamingos hotel. A great overview of the city.
The tour was a good price too - $35, if we'd booked something similar through the ship it would have been around $55.
The only part of the tour we didn't like was that it ended at Los Flamingos hotel. The hotel had a interesting history and beautiful views. Only problem was that it also had a restaurant so we were essentially encouraged to relax and get food or a drink (many people took up this offer being as it was 1:30 and there wasn't a lunch stop). My husband and I however preferred to eat somewhere else and so for a while we basically waited around for everyone. However, the situation was redeemed when Rosie noticed that we and another couple weren't eating or drinking and were essentially done. Our guide then offered to take us back to the boat early which we appreciated. We spoke with one of the couples who stayed back at the hotel/restaurant and told us that the food didn't end up being anything special so they wished that they had left early too. Overall though we appreciated our guide being more than willing to take us back, we appreciated their flexibility and willingness to accommodate us.

We just took a tour with Rosie during our Carnival Spirit stop in Acapulco. We emailed her to inquire about tours and she let us know that she would be offering standard tours that day in vans with other cruise ship passengers - this was what we wanted. Rosie drove one van and an associate drove the other and we all went to the standard sites in Acapulco together. She also asked everyone if there was anything special that we wanted to do or see - the consensus was that nobody wanted to go shopping, we all wanted to go to lunch at an authentic Mexican restaurant (I think it was El Zorrito - recommended by Rosie and outstanding), and we would all like to stop by her house (or "plantation") for a look. No problem. We were wondering why anyone would want to stop at her house, but this was a great stop and we're glad we went there.

She offered us water, sodas, and beer from the cooler in her van and she stopped at a market for more beer when the cooler ran out.

Due to scheduling and traffic problems, we went to the evening cliff diver show and actually had a 7-hour tour rather than a 5-hour tour - a nice bonus - for the same price. The schedule was discussed with everyone before the tour started.

Finally, Rosie is one of the nicest people you could ever meet.

I know Carnival is cancelling future stops in Acapulco after the end of November because of the perceived "danger" in that city. However, I felt safer in Acapulco than I do roaming around many large US cities. If you take a tour from a reputable tour group such as Rosie's, you will be just fine.

We recently cruised through the Panama Canal. Embarkation was in Acapulco where Rosie, from Acapulco Rosie's Tours picked us up from the ship and transported us to the hotel. She picked us up again that afternoon and toured the area, including a botanical garden that is being developed as an eco-center, many endangered plants, beautiful gardens, turtles in the ponds. At my husband's request, she took us to the local Costco. It was fun to compare to ours. We had dinner in a local restaurant, served the best Chili Rellenos ever. Great meal, very reasonably priced. In the evening, we went to the cliff diving show and to a viewpoint on a cliff where we watched the Coral Princess sail away. The package was very reasonably priced for the transfer from the ship to the hotel, evening tour, and transportation to the airport the next morning. Rosie was always on time and did a nice tour. The only stop we did not enjoy was at a tourist store, that appeared to be open just for us where we were ambushed by the sales staff, very pushy and smothering. We would use Rosie again, she was great with an understanding not to take us to high pressure tourist stores.

My mother-in-law and I took Rosie's tour with a bunch of friends from a cruise ship. Rosie was amazing. The tour was great. The van was clean with AC. She had water, soda and beer for us. She even had cold and moist towels for us when we would return to the van after a short yet hot walking tour or cliff divers. She was amazing. Most tour guides are old, fat and doen't speak english very well. Well Ms. Rosie is not that kind of tour guide. She is cute as a button, very nicely dressed, very hospitable and has great englist skills. Part of the tour group wanted to go to a late lunch after the tour and some wanted to juse get back to the ship (it was a very hot day). Rosie made sure that everyone on her tour was accounted for and walked part of the group right to the ship and took the rest of us to a very nice Mexican meal. She even had lunch with us. We all chatted about our culturs and were able to learn how we all lived. It was a very authentic experience. I enjoyed the tour so much that I would take it again. Yup, the same sights and all. I would do it all over again. She was great and I wish her all the best.
