“There's only one good thing at this hotel”

And that is the bellboys! We stayed there 27 years ago on our first trip to Acapulco, cheap price and saw why. We fell in love while there with Acapulco and have returned every year since. We bought a time share at Playa Suites and were very happy but time share management moved us to el presidente much to or dismay. We had a problem there and with legal help got out of our time share because this place so nasty. You have no view of the whole bay as do most on the beach, place is old and not kept up. Management is NOT a good example of how Alcapulco is. Everyone elsewhere will treat you with the utmost friendliness, thats why we keep going back. As stated above, the only good this hotel has to offer is the bellboys, I stop by every year to say HOLA to them.....stay away from this hotel! Any questions: deanwal @ aol . com PS as of 2013 nothing has changed except us NOT being there

i have stayed at this hotel for many years.
IT is an old ACAPULCO Treasure that has wonderful beach front rooms , with the wonderful old fashion charm. I was most pleased with my last 2 stays this winter and in June as the hotel has been undergoing extensive renovations to bring it back to it's
old reputation. I was impressed with the progress that they have made so far.The restaurants serve wonderful food and are most accommodating. The staff is now learning to speak English and I was able to practice with them. A big advantage is that there is a wonderful 24 hour free internet service in the lobby , restaurant and common areas..
This is a great plus. The top attraction though is that it has the best beach front and super service. I would certainly come back based on the vast upgrades and modernization n the hotel.

Room Tip: Always asks for a bahia room to enjoy the great view of the bay.

This was definitely not the best hotel we have stayed at in Acapulco. I would suggest doing more research and picking a better hotel. The hotel felt very tired and old. Refresh needed. The staff were helpful and rooms were clean.

AC need maintenance, TVs are old, beach is wonderful and location is their best asset. Pool is cold, umbrellas in pool area are urgently required El Presidente is requiring a renewal in services and furniture.

Room Tip: Nice beach, great location, rooms need maintenance

I read the reviews before I stayed at this hotel, but it was the only place available for the New Years holiday from RCI Resorts. The reviews here are spot on... The hotel is very old and very dated. It is poorly maintained. The history is that the owner died, left it to the kids, and one of the kids sold one of the towers (the better of the 2) and it has now been completely remodeled and is the Holiday Inn Resort (looks very nice). The other tower is still the old El Presidente and it is clear that the owners will not put any money into the property. The only nice thing is that I did have a suite and they are huge. They span the entire ocean front of the hotel from one corner to the other. Just don't get excited about the furnishings or maintenance. This hotel has no business services. If you need internet, etc go across the street to Office Max. Internet is 25 pesos per hour... not bad.

This hotel is so old and dated it is literally falling apart - fixtures and fittings in our room were falling off the walls, and there was an electrical socket hanging by a wire right next to our shower. The beds were the most uncomfortable I have ever slept in, and the fridge didn't work. Even worse, there was no hot water for the duration of our stay (2 nights). This is completely unacceptable for a supposedly 4-star hotel. One of our party also had cockroaches in her bathroom.

There were more rules in this hotel than guests - we went to pick up our 'beach' towels to be told they can't be used on the beach, just at the pool. Then our friends wanted to go for a swim in the pool around 6pm, and went to pick up towels to be told they can't pick them up at that time - even though the return time is 8pm. The pool bar was closed - and they told us we couldn't bring our own beers in either. There's a deck area beside the beach with sun loungers - but you can't sit there unless you spend a minimum of 300 pesos (they're VIP seats apparently).

It may have a great location, but there are newer hotels all along the same strip of beach, which no doubt treat their guests better than school children, I recommend choosing one of them instead!
