My wife and I have been staying at the Pierre Marques for 20 years -- and many others have been there even longer. What inspires this kind of devotion are: (1) Acapulco weather in February is always predictable -- sunny and hot, (2) The villas are perfect -- though in truth we don't spend too much time indoors, (3) the same staff are there year in and year out; they care about the patrons. When our cab drops us off (only 10 minutes from the airport!) the bellman, front desk , Manager and pool manager all say: "Welcome Home." The atmosphere is quiet and respectful. Tennis in the morning and then books on Kindle interspersed with dips in the pools. This is our idea of a perfect vacation at a perfect place.

Room Tip: Different kinds of rooms; we prefer to stay in a villa.

This hotel is an Acapulco classic and has become home away from home to many well to do mexican families. Upon arrival since it was the off season I got a complimentary upgrade to a junior suite, which was greatly appreciated. The room is nice but starting to show its age. There is a certain disconnect between the architecture of the place and the room décor. The hotel itself is spread out across several gardens and has an almost Frank Lloyd Wright look, but the rooms are done in a colonial motif more akin to a property in Bermuda or the Caribbean. The furniture in the room has seen better days and has nicks and scratches but nothing too terrible, the rooms are kept spotless with maid and turndown service. The TV in the room is ancient but has decent reception and a good choice of local and international channels. Since it was the off season there was no problem finding a lounger in any of the hotel pools, I personally prefer the adults only "quiet" pool. The place was greatly understaffed even for the off season and that translated into ridiculous amounts of time spent waiting for a drink or food. For instance, if you chose not to take the decent breakfast buffet you could expect to wait 45 minutes for a toasted bagel. Or half an hour for a beer to be delivered poolside. The staff was courteous but cold, not the usual Fairmont attitude that tries to go the extra mile and make your stay memorable. With so many new properties in Acapulco trying to corner the upscale market it appears that Fairmont has just given up and is trying to appeal to a broader audience with this property, which is nice, just not extraordinary, not even as nice as a couple of years back.

Room Tip: Second floor Villas are the best option available, you get a good sized room and an enormous private...

The Fairmont Pierre Marques opened its doors in 1957 but not only has it maintained its elegance and grace but has inproved on it. On arrival to its open-air lobby it almost sems like a Frank Lloyd Wright design but once past the low ceiling corredor the entire hotel opens up to beautiful grounds and views of the Pacific Ocean. The rooms are everything one could wish for, perfect in design, comfort, decoration and amenities. There are three pools, two very well attended and a third hidden away as to be almost private . The main restaurant, Tabichin, easily could be located in any of the Fairmont hotels around the world as it has such grace and style, fine food and service. A second large restaurant, The Terrace, is open to the air with close up views of the ocean, fine food and a very bountiful breakfast buffet. The large bar with tables both indoors and outdoors serves lighter fare and there even is a small deli should you wish to retreat to your room and very spacious balcony to enjoy a drink and sandwich overlooking the sea. The grounds are filled with flower beds and coco palm trees. We did not partake of the spa or beautiful golf course but did enjoy the ample exercise room. There is a courtesy shuttle to Fairmonts other hotel, the Princess, but we were so pleased where we were we didnt bother to use it even though it s said the Princess is even finer though I doubt such a thing is possible. Right now Acapulco is suffering a tourism letdown and one can get excellent bargains, Mexicans, Canadians, Americans, Europeans, Latinos, imagine this excellent property for $ 100 or 75 Euros, how can you stay home? Just dont try Easter or Christmas.

Room Tip: The higher the floor, the better the view but also the higher the price. This a a low rise propert...

Great experience. Food excellent, staff helpful and accomodating. Beautiful rooms, very clean. Comfortable beds. We would also recommend our tour guide/driver Sebastian Hernandez. Dependable, extremely helpful, fluent in english. Feeling safe traveling around the city was a concern for us, he alleviated those concerns. His email: eskp_rsh@hotmail.com All in all a wonderful trip, would highly recommend.

We stayed for 3 nights in February 2011 on the weekend where the finals for the Mexican Tennis Open were played. There were no many choices left in this side of Acapulco so we finally settled for the Fairmont Pierre Marques.
I must confess I was deeply disappointed by the hotel and makes me wonder what does it take for a hotel to have the Fairmont brand on it. This is not a luxury hotel at all. The room where we stayed had old furniture and appliances and it was in a poor condition. The elevator did not work for the 3 days we stayed there so we had to climb the stairs several times a day. A friend of us that stayed at the top floor did not have a nice experience in this regard.
We went to the beach once and no service was offered. After half an hour we went into the hotel to contact a waitress so we could get some food and beverages. At the end we decided we would be better served at the pool so we abandoned any idea of lying on the beach.
We had breakfast (buffet) and lunch at the pool several times. The food is barely OK. Nothing extraordinary.
Overall, do not be deceived by the Fairmont brand on this hotel. The Pierre Marques is a 3 star hotel at its best but it charges Fairmont prices.

This is definitely not what you would expect of a Fairmont. Be very careful of their interpretation of a villa......... it is a very basic and small room in a motel type building. The room they were trying to pawn off on use faced a wall and was beside a very noisey public beach.

That being said, the manager offered us an ocean-side room which overlooked the beach for $50/night more. We were already paying around $400/night, however it should be noted that it was Santa Semana which is one of the busiest travel weeks in Mexico. We took it and were very happy with the view. The room was clean and spacious, but very dated and in dire need of a renovation. It was comparable to a three star hotel.

The fitness room had modern equipment and was good for doing cardio, but not much else.

The pool areas and beach are amazing. The resort is small, which is really nice since nothing is far away. There is a kids area with lots of space and kids stuff. Breakfast was good and so was room service. The 4 wheelers and jet-skis are really reasonably priced and lots of fun. There is also horse-back riding on the beach.

It is a good idea to rent a car at the airport. Our car from Hertz was just $20/day plus $30/day for insurance. It is a very good idea to buy their insurance and not rely on your credit card coverage.

The service by all the staff is amazing.

Room Tip: Be sure to get an ocean front room

Two years ago we had stayed at Fairmont Pierre Marques in a nice refurbished room and we wanted to go back. So last month we booked an Ocean View room for 5 nights, but this time we got a room in the "F" tower that should be a shame for Fairmont: the rooms are very old, it seems the only renovation they got in 30 years was to paint the doors&walls and change the curtains, the floor is so damaged it looks dirty all the time, bathroom is old, electric installation is totally obsolete and unsafe. We asked for a newer room but we were told we had to pay a 60USD upgrade to get a Deluxe room, we refused as we were not willing to pay any extra just to get a room in decent condition. We were offered other rooms in the same tower but all looked in same bad condition.

Also, it seems this hotel is always understaffed. Last time we stayed during a busy week so we understood the lack of staff. But this time the hotel was almost empty but they had cut most of the personal (only one multitask guy at reception, few waiters, nobody at towels desk, etc...) so we had to wait every time we needed something.

A big problem also, maybe due to the lack of staff, was the cleanliness of beach and pool areas: Fairmont has a beach zone reserved to the guests, but under each palapa we could find a lot of garbage from the previous guests that nobody cared to pick up, the beach zone wasn't cleaned daily neither. Waiters at the pool zone could leave the leftovers for hours so because of the wind plastic glasses, limes and cans ended up in the swimming pool, it was disgusting...

We love the hotel location, the fountains and gardens are beautiful, but we were truly disappointed by the rooms and service. We did not feel that we were staying at a luxury hotel at all.
