Well the Aca Fairmont Princess to be honest is a beautiful place, classic landmark of Acapulco Diamante area, monumental architecture, the gardens, pools, tennis courts and golf course are excellent. YES is kind of old, and yes, rooms have seen its best years before, this hotel was built in the 70s... But if you can get pass this fact, this is your best bet to get a great family and SPA vacation hotel. The largest nearest convention area to Mexico City and is only 3.5hr drive from the city. It actually takes longer by plane if you account for the time spent at the airport and taxis. So you can pack-up the rental SUV, save big on the family airfare and drive the Sun's Highway (MEX95) to spend a lovely week in Acapulco.
Rooms are fine at the Fairmont, everything usually works, plenty of space and double sinks, one near the shower and one out, if you want a fresher-new approach ask for the renewed Pearl tower (but no bathtube) which is quieter and farther away from the hotel's buzz, but the best view is from the Ocean front rooms in the Pyramid (Closer to the restaurants and the parking valet) and of course the more expensive corner suites.
Being a regular to Acapulco 3-4 times a year with kids this is a great place with great service, we feel at home here. If you are a party animal, better think twice, you can find more night life and less cost in the traditional crowded Acapulco bay properties.
Make sure to get the breakfast plan. The Chula Vista al-fresco buffet is really nice. Kid's love it with the sea water lagoon pool beside and the ocean view. Memories will last for sure...
As only having the breakfast buffet included, by the afternoon or at night you can choose to stay or to dine out at the many options of the Diamante area and the La Isla shopping mall
As stated in the Shawshank Redemption movie... this paciffic ocean area has "no memory", time kind of stops here, and you just relax with a nice swim or the spa with your wife... and enjoy a little adventure with the kids exploring the artificial caves at the pools, digging castles at the beach, riding a jetskii or an ATV motorcicle... The hotel has a quite decent day-round kid's club program plenty of activities also with a turttle farm we got lucky th be part of a baby turtle release day...
Well we love this place enough to come back as often as we can... always a nice experience.

Room Tip: If you want a fresher-new approach ask for the renewed Pearl tower rooms which are quieter and farth...

My Husband and I only stayed here one night, but we thought it was great! Yes, it's a little old, but I truly loved it like that. Reminded us of the Beverly HIlls Hotel when we stayed for our honeymoon- old, but classy old. The pools were beautiful, more like a lagoon than a pool, with swans, flamingos, and ducks in the upper section.

We would definitely reccomend getting a driver, like Roberto Alarcon, if you plan on going into the city or doing any tours. He was soooo sweet and really did just want to show you the city he loves at your convenience and within your price range. He saved us a great deal of money, made us feel very safe and cared for, and tailored everything to our wants and needs. Great knowledge of the city and recommendations of great places to eat and things to do too... You can email him at robertoalrey@yahoo.com.mx. I cannot speak highly enough of him.

Pros:
-beautiful pool
-friendly staff
-clean rooms
-purified water in the taps
-great balcony, especially in the corner rooms
-great shower pressure
-AMAZING buffet breakfast, but pay when you book to save a lot of $$

Cons:
-must pay for use of the gym ($10/day)
-no lazy river
-no safes in the room (they are in the process of getting them apparently)
-a little run down, but like I said, it had a certain charm to it that way
-no coffee maker in our room or fridge like we requested

Extra Tips:
-If you go into town, you must eat at El Zorrito (a recomendation of Robertos)... its authentic, DELICIOUS, and cheap... a favortie with the locals, and not a lourist trap
-buy your own alcohol in advance
-we found the cheapest rates at hotel.com
-email Roberto!

Hope this has been helpful!

Room Tip: Get a corner room for a better balcony

We stayed a night at the Princess March 2012. It's evident that it was a really nice hotel, once - but they've sort of let it run down. Everything is old. The pools are not well maintained - plenty of mildew and mold around the edges. The only restaurant open for dinner besides the buffet was Tavola, which was very good, but is more expensive than I want to spend every night. They have a roped off area at the beach for guests, but beach vendors put up tents right along the surf, which means your view as a guest is obstucted. The vendors seemed more pushy here then elsewhere I've stayed, including Acapulco.

I wouldn't go here again.

This hotel is too expensive for the value. The new rooms are okay, but the rest of the hotel needs to be renovated. Charging for the gym, parking and a poor beach front for $275 USD a night is an insult. I've also stayed at the fairmont pierre marques which is right beside it and no more. I go to the beach often and acapulco is not on my high list of places, but the emporio, camino real and the gran hotel, which are far more cheaper hotels in acapulco they give you a far better value if that is your destination. The food is also very expensive, but you can leave the hotel and eat very well close to la Isla, the closest open air mall..... In my opinion, this hotel should not be charging more than $150 USD for their rooms and they should lose star. Sorry, but it's the thruth!

Room Tip: ask for the perla tower, do not get an old room, you'll be upset. ironically, the partial view i...

We spent five days recently at the lovely Acapulco Princess, an older but still beautiful hotel. The service was excellent, the grounds as beautiful as ever and the water lovely. Four nights/five days is perfect for a relaxing vacation. You don't have to even go to the older part of the city and you feel completely safe. This is a hotel that has been around for a long time, and has watched the grow up around it. There is every kind of amenity, store, restaurant and entertainment you could want.

We have been going to Acapulco since the 70s. but because of the bad publicity we stopped visiting this beautiful city 20 years ago. what a mistake. Acapulco is now a modern city with many new hi rise condos, new restaurants, new business like Costco, home depot, walmarts and the weather, one of the best in the world. No rain, sunny and high 80s.
We stayed at Fairmont Acapulco Princess for 18 days and we were very sorry when we left. This Hotel with its open lobby, beautiful gardens and beaches has everything a tourist wants, good food, little expensive but manageable, good wines at Tavola restaurant and very plenty variety of food at the breakfast buffet. The rooms are very large and very clean with a small refrigirator.
There is a Deli and a Spa, one of the best I have seen with clean Sauna, Steam and Jacuzzi, plenty of towels and the employees are wonderful. Thanks to Senor Ivan Osorio who was so kind with us letting my brother in law and I using the wet area of the Spa. Thank you again Mr. Osorio from the bottom of my heart, we enjoy it every minute of it.
Walmart is not even 1/2 KM from the hotel and Cosco 1KM. A good and not expensive restaurant is Casa Nostra, 10 min from the hotel, by taxi, run by an Italian immigrant who worked on the cruises, and does a terrific job.

The only issue we had at the hotel was the free internet in the lobby which is so slow it drives you crazy. Maybe because I was the only one who used it, everybody else has a loptop, Ipad or tablet.

The sister hotel The Pierre Marquis, is 1/2 ml by shuttle bus and can be used at your pleasure, even have breakfast there. We had a very, very nice time at Fairmont Acapulco Princess and we are going back in September. Andrei

Room Tip: get the corner room, it has the beach and mountain views
