“Spacious room but dated decor”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2013

Very spacious room with separate office area when you walk in. Liked how you could separate that area from the rest of the room. Large bathroom and it was well maintained even though it was a tad dated. Nice shower with good pressure and plenty of hot water. Common areas seemed very traditional and a tad dated, too. Overall a nice size room, got a good night's rest so no complaints.

The hotel maintains its general quality and nice staff.
And a must on these times: rooms for smokers!

But the restaurant´s menu did not change in years, and still remains the bad habit of used (and dirty) room service dishes on the hallways waiting hours to be picked up.

Please, take note of that, a little detail.

I was a week in this beautiful hotel for a bussines trip. But the hotel is neer for everything you can need for a vacation trip, the cast member always has a smile in their faces.
The room are big, myabe the fourniture a little old but in great condition....the bed was soft and nice for a good night.
They have breackfast buffette, that is great whit alot of fruit, eggs, mexican food, juice, etc.
The location provide walk true to Macro Plaza Mty, museum, etc.

This hotel, located in Monterrey's downtown is excellent located, but very poor maintained. Rooms are old and rusty. HVAC are noisy and in midday can't handle the heat load. One morning I even did not have hot water in the shower.
Staff is courteous but will not get any further to convert good service into excellent service.
Will think about it for staying again, eventhought is located in walking distance from Marco (modern art museum) Monterrey's cathedral, Paseo Santa Lucia, Macro Plaza, etc.

Very spacious rooms and large confortable suite baths; cleaned well all days. Very helpful front desk for all needs. Good location to reach by foot the downtown and the Metro. The internet fee it´s not cheap. One serious thing to take care is about the room´s service trays, that stays too much time (hours) at the hallway floor waiting to be picked up. And the swiming pool is helpful only for children.

This is a perfect hotel, good location, you and walk to tons do stores, they have a plaza in front of the hotel, you an get a shoe shine for 15 pesos at the plaza.

They have an orchestra that plays Danzon, cha cha cha, and boleros two days of the week and old. Couples come and dance, beautiful to watch before going to dinner.

They don't have a great bar, but you. Can get a couple of Micheladas !!!

Monterrey may not be our first choice when you want to visit Mexico due to high criminality and terrorist like wars between drug cartels. Still you can see it from the positive side: Monterrey was before crime swept over the city in the last 2 years a pretty modern and nice place and actually it has not lost any of this, just that it's more dangerous, but prices have gone down, so you find high class hotels like the Fiesta Americana for very affordable prices. There are few other choices that are probably also good in the same area, so I am not sure that I would stay again at the same hotel although it was good for the money.
The number one advantage is the great location, directly in the center in front of a museum and at the back of a pedestrain zone, only 2 minutes walk from "Macro plaza" and 5 minutes from a metro station and a few minutes from the "barrio antiguo" (that is a bit run down and less attractive due to the security situation).
The zone is completely safe and nice.
About the hotel itself:
It has a very good standard but needs some refurbishing, if you like it very "classic" you are at the perfect place.
For my personal taste it's a bit too old fashioned and a little bit run down (bathroom tiles, shower curtain). But it is very spacey and beds are comfortable.
According to the room description there should be newspaper service but we didn't get any.
The TV big but old (no flatscreen, no HD).
Service at reception is friendly.
Swimmingpool is nice for kids not big enough for sports.
Mini Bar is completely overprized, rather walk down to 24-hours seven-eleven around the corner if you fancy something (beware they won't sell any alcoholic drinks after 6pm!).
Didn't try room service or restaurant, also overpriced for mexican standards.
