“Really Hidden”
Reviewed December 30, 2012

The owners were right when they named this restaurant "The Hidden Place", you have to drive really slowly throughout the San Jerónimo Avenue to spot it, behind a furniture store called Tamarindo. The place is small but has good mexican food in a cozy atmosphere.

“Codornices asadas, mmmm delicious!”
Reviewed November 12, 2012

This time we called beforehand for a reservation, at 9:00 PM it was fully booked, so we decided to have an early dinner about 7:30 and we got a table. We suggest to call in advance.
The gracious owner was as usual, taking care of each table and all customers arriving. His oldest son was already helping with the fabulous style they always have.
Salmon with mustard sauce for my husband and quails in the grill with spices for me, both dishes were a special treat you can't find anywhere. Most of the dishes are creations of the owners, so we had a unique experience with each food choice.Wine list is excellent and service is the best in town.
Finished the night with a house made coconut flan, which takes you to heaven.

“Good but I'll have to give it another chance”
Reviewed September 23, 2012

Based on the reviews from TripAdvisor which rarely steer me wrong, I was just not sold on La Escondida. Got there early on a Friday evening, no trouble with seating. Sat outside and mosquitoes had their meal first. Staff did turn on fans and eventually subsided. Food was good but the restaurant did not wow me. Staff was excellent. I'm all about 2nd chances and will definitely go back. Really great atmosphere. I ate at Nacional next door the day before and still had that wonderful comparison on my mind I think.

“very delicious”
Reviewed September 13, 2012

The kitchen of this place is awesome. The only inconvenient is that they charge a LOT! to corkage, almost like getting a bottle there. It doesn't make any sense at ALL!

“Specal cooking creations by owner.”
Reviewed June 9, 2012

Been there several times, leaving with a smile and planning in the next visit. Menu has several cerations with a touch of mexican old fashion good cuisine. Wine selection is very good, service by experienced waiters. You might find the owner taking care of guests and explaining the kitchen creations. The name makes honor to the location, La Escondida, somewhat hidden but right behind yojr eyes, near and easy access, just need to find it.
