This restaurant was recommended by our hotel as being close-by, very good but expensive. We decided to check it out on our afternoon walk round town and our first reaction was that it was rather pretentious and, having been in Baja and the Canyon, we did not have suitable clothes !! However, we spoke to the maitre de and he was very understanding and assured us that our jeans would not get us thrown out and we booked a table for dinner.
The staff were very attentive and the menu was extensive. We are English but travel extensively in Mexico so the prices were well-above what we usually see, even in the good restaurants where we live in Mexico City. However, as is so often true, you get what you pay for. The ambience of the former residence/House of Culture was very pleasant and the food was excellent. This was the last night of our trip so we didn’t mind the size of the bill – yes, expensive for Mexico but half what we would pay for a similar meal in UK.
