“A little casita with big value”

Cancion del Mar is less than 2 miles north of downtown Todos Santos, tucked in among some much larger beach properties in Las Tunas and El Posito. The main house features one bedroom with a king-sized bed, a full-sized bathroom, living room and fully-equipped kitchen. A smaller detached casita features a queen-sized bed and a full bath. The grounds are meticulously landscaped with palms, agave plants and bougainvillea trees. There is plenty of room for outdoor dining, as well as a roof deck for viewing spectacular sunsets over the Pacific Ocean or sunrises over the Sierra Laguna mountains.

We stayed for eight days and cooked most of our meals. The refrigerator and freezer were full-sized, and the kitchen well laid out for food prep. A new produce stand in Las Brisas supplemented the Los Pinos and Mercado El Sol 2 markets that met the lion's portion of our needs. There are plenty of wonderful restaurants offering multiple cuisines downtown should the chef wish to take the night off.

All in all, we wish we could have stayed longer. Having a washer and dryer available for use made it possible to pack a little lighter, and to get more than one wear out of what we packed. One can get very comfortable here very quickly. We look forward to coming back.

“Great Rental for a family of four with privacy and extra amenities”

This is a modern, spotlessly clean, enclosed mini compound consisting of a main building and an in-law suit (bedroom and bathroom) connected by a manicured palm garden. The main building has a terrace looking out to the Pacific Ocean--about half a mile way (maybe less)--and a delightful shaded roof top which is perfect to watch the sunset. The kitchen does not have a dishwasher, but is otherwise fully equipped. Additionally, there's a little gas grill on the terrace that we used quite a bit. Amenities that are not listed in the owners' faithful description include US-size washer and drier and the supply of lots of beach towels and large jugs of water (5 gallon bottles, I think) courtesy of the owners. The owners--friendly American expats--were extremely responsive in immediately fixing a plumbing problem that we may have unwittingly caused ourselves. The property is about a couple of miles north the village of Todos Santos, just off a paved road in what felt like a very safe area. You may want to keep in mind that vacation rentals farther up the coast are only reachable through a bumpy dirt road. Todos Santos is a charming sizable village somewhat overrun by Americans. But it has its pluses--good food at very reasonable prices, for example, and some genuine arts and crafts. Todos Santos also offers a "native" experience like the opportunity to buy fresh fish directly from the fishermen on the the beach at nearby Punta Lobos. And the weather was unbelievable--warm enough to swim at Christmas.... We stayed 8 days, which was probably a bit much. In retrospect, we could have split our time between Todos Santos, on the Pacific, and some location on the Gulf of California.
