“Incredible”

After staying the day and the sister Beach Club (El Faro), we drove up the hill just to check out the restaurant and were truly amazed by the view, service and food. As it was quiet season (August) we pretty much had the entire outdoor restaurant to ourselves. Naturally the service was great but also very personable. The food was equally special and coupled with the spectacular view, it was not an dining experience we will easy forget - if ever!

“Romantic With An Outstanding View”
Reviewed July 24, 2014

Words cannot describe El Mirador. You must go there. I've been all over the world and no place compares to the unique setting chosen for this special place to eat. Yes, it is most definitely off the beaten path, but there are signs from the highway pointing the way. All dirt roads in this area lead to the beach, but this one veers off and meanders up onto the hillside affording a breathtaking view of the Pacific. That alone is worth the visit, as well as the stunning desert landscape of native plants and water feature making its way over rocks and stones like it had all been there for centuries.

Once you stop gaping in awe at the magnificent palapa above the restaurant, you are greeted by a lovely hostess offering you a tasty shot of gazpacho or tequila! It's all part of the El Mirador experience of a prix fixe 4 course menu, which will change regularly.....prepared by a talented chef using local ingredients. There's a huerta planned for growing fresh herbs and veggies, too, once the hot summer is over.

I've had several different starters and entrees, and all I can say is that each dish was deliciously prepared. I loved the beet and carrot soup, unusual salad combinations, wonderfully prepared local fish, yummie desserts. All the dishes reflect a mixture of international flavors with a Mexican twist. I call it Mex Chic. There's a wood fired oven, too, in what they are calling the "winter room"...since it is protected with glass for when it gets a bit cooler.

It is currently the slow season in this area, so at the moment they are only open Thursday-Sunday...but I am sure when the season starts to rock, it will be hard to get a table. It's also a fantastic place for any special occasion or event, like a wedding, anniversary, or birthday. There's so much space and it can accommodate a lot of people. It's a great place to go even just for a drink at sunset. There's no formal bar, but any cocktail you might want can be made for you. You should probably make a reservation...it would be so disappointing to go all that way and not be able to be accommodated. Call (612) 175 0800

“Spectacular new restaurant”
Reviewed June 30, 2014

Our family amazing stumbled upon this amazing new restaurant after meeting one of the owners (it had only just opened). Finding it was an adventure (it's not well sign posted and the roads are dirt/sand but it's definitely worth the effort (4 wheel drive not necessary!) The views are absolutely amazing of the full coastline and a perfect sunset, and the food and service was superb. The menu was a 4 course 'set' menu but the staff were accommodating to our infant children. The price was very reasonable.
