“A perfect getawy in a fantastic, peaceful location above the beach on the Pacific coast north of Cabo.”

Two friends and I rented the main house for the last week of December and both the house and the casita for the first week of January. The property is perfectly situated on a bluff above a wide beach and the Pacific. The main house is well designed and decorated with comfortable furnishings, a well equipped kitchen and pantry and an expansive covered terrace overlooking the sea. The terrace was the perfect place to watch the parade of migrating humpback wales, jumping rays, squadrons of pelicans and beautiful sunsets. It runs the length of the house and has several sitting areas, including an irresistible double daybed that was perfect for reading and napping. This was perhaps my favorite part of the house, but the pool area and the large poolside palapa, complete with refrigerator and fully stocked honors bar, was tough competition. All of the property, including the pool area and the hillside down to the beach is beautifully planted and meticulously maintained. The pool was well maintained and a good temperature. We all spent time in it every day, including the five year old who joined us with his Mom on the second week of our stay. The adjoining hot tub was a great place to gaze at the fantastic stars in the evenings.

Keith and Sharon were excellent hosts. They were staying next door and were always available to provide recommendations for restaurants, shopping and excursions, but were never intrusive. They provided a cell phone for local calls and for contacting them at anytime when we were in or out of the house. We never needed it, but it was nice to know we had someone to call if we got lost or had a flat tire or something.

The property is an hour or so away from the Cabos. There is some traffic on the Cabo corridor on the way from the airport, but it is a very easy drive once heading north on the new road up the coast. Sharon will give you great directions to everything. We stopped at Costco and Walmart on the way from the airport to stock up on fresh meat and sundries, but most things were available near the house, which was also very well provisioned when we arrived. Pescadero and Todos Santos were nice places to visit for a meal and some shopping.

Ceritos beach, just a couple of miles up the road, is the local spot for swimming and surfing. The beach at the house was not really swimmable in the winter. We knew this ahead of time and just enjoyed watching the crashing waves from the house or taking long walks on the perfectly clean and practically deserted beach. We all enjoyed "watching the cows come home" in the evening while watching the sunset and sipping our margaritas in the evenings. Really, there are a dozen or so cows that pasture nearby and they usually walked in front of the property on the beach in the evening. They wore bells and were really charming. The sound they made reminded us adults of Indonesian gamelan music and Lucas, the 5 year old, loved them.

This is the perfect location for a couple or a group of up to 8 of any ages to take a relaxing break with beautiful views of the Pacific and the undeveloped, cactus strewn mountains. The roof of the smaller casita had especially good views of the mountains and the sea. There were so many pleasant places between the two houses to relax and gaze at the ocean, mountains, and sky, that it was hard to choose.

Baja Beach Getaway was perfect for the five of us, aged 5 to 58, but it would not be a good place for those who require much in the way of exciting night life. The main house was built for Keith and Sharon to enjoy themselves and they have paid attention to every detail. The wifi generally worked very well in the house. The satellite TV provided access to many English stations and we had the use of their very extensive DVD and CD collections for our evening entertainment. There is a Jacuzzi tub and a washing machine off of the master bedroom. The kitchen was very well equipped and supplied with a well stocked panty, so no need to buy expensive spices, etc. that you would then leave behind. We did a lot of cooking in the house and on the barbecue and had everything we needed. Sharon even provided marshmallows for toasting over the outdoor fire pit!

The smaller casita is also very well designed, equipped and provisioned. For a couple or two couples, the casita would be perfectly acceptable. It is really very nice and the property is large enough to accommodate two groups. Another family had the casita the first week we were there and there was plenty of space around the pool area for us all to share. However, even if I were alone or with just one other friend, I would choose to rent the main house because of the fantastic back terrace. For the benefit of anyone afraid of visiting Mexico, the place feels so secure that I would actually consider renting it by myself. I do hope to rent Baja Beach Getaway again, but with the same or several other friends so that someone can enjoy all of the great spots for relaxation that the property provides.

I owe a special thanks to Shelby from Arriba de la Rocca up the beach (see my review and those of others on Trip Advisor). My husband and I stayed there over Thanksgiving in 2012. It is a truly amazing place for a couple to spend a very pampered and romantic break. Shelby recommended Baja Beach Getaway as a good place to rent for the five of us with a 5 year old. She could not have given me a better recommendation.

“The Ultimate Baja Getaway on the Pacific...”

After our stay in this little paradise, we just wanted to share our feelings and thank our hosts Keith and Sharon S. for being so "simpatico." Over the past four decades, our family has experienced the excitement of traveling and exploring throughout Baja. Stressful jobs have always been met with the biggest smiles each time we return from a Baja excursion. Needless to say, we enjoy the beauty of the desert, mountains, and beaches. This last trip was unique because staying at the "Baja Beach Getaway" combined all of our favorite Baja delights. Staying in your sparkling/comfortable "casita," we had everything we needed to just hang out and soak in the environment. We had a stunning view of the pristine beach, mountains, desert gardens, with an oasis and a palapa that we fell in love with more and more each day. But the solitude of walks on the beach and sitting in the big swing watching pelicans cruise by were pure magic. To top it off, we spent several evenings in nearby Todos Santos, sampling excellent restaurants and Mexican hospitality.

The beautiful Pacific sunsets and incredible views were not easy to leave behind. I guess you can tell because we've booked a week for the upcoming holidays. We look forward to seeing Baja once again. Can't wait.

“Loved the pool!”
Reviewed August 1, 2013 for a stay in July 2013

We had never been to Baja before, but will plan to go back...my husband and I traveled with another couple, and this casa was perfect, with two private bedrooms, but plenty of room when we wanted to be with our friends. We especially liked the upper deck and I fell in love with the pool and palapa area, just sitting on a barstool in the pool and reading--heaven. Our hosts were very helpful and set up a couples massage on the beach, as well as a snorkel trip.

“Peaceful”
Reviewed July 25, 2013 for a stay in March 2013

My fiancé and I stayed here during the spring. It was very clean and relaxing. I wish we could've stayed longer! The hosts were very friendly and personable. They were respectful of our privacy, but were down to have a margarita or two with us! Their pool was always the perfect temperature and a lot of fun with a swim up bar. At night all you can hear is the rhythmic thundering boom of the ocean, because it's literally right there!! I would definitely recommend this place. We can't wait to go back!

“Love watching the waves”
Reviewed July 21, 2013 for a stay in June 2013

We love the beach. In fact, we live near the beach in North Carolina. So we were really delighted to discover the beautiful and secluded stretch of beach right outside our door at Baja Getaway. Early morning walks were the best! And our hosts were so accommodating providing boogie boards, beach umbrella, even a picnic basket. The house is very comfortable, and the nights glorious. Thanks Sharon and Keith for a wonderful vacation, we can't wait to visit again next year.
