Charming Chef/Owner Rima has struck it right in creating and filling a foodie niche that has never really existed in Todos Santos....turning what used to be for many years a little mom and pop grocery store on a busy corner, into a funky chic bistro meets tea room. She takes full advantage of all the freshest ingredients available from nearby growers along with local artisan-made specialties, preparing most dishes to order. The atmosphere is fun and inviting, with ever-changing walls showcasing pieces by local artists. There are also a few tables outside on the sidewalk.
This is a great place for breakfast and lunch, with some uniquely tasty pairings such as cardamon pancakes or little falafels with tahini and slaw. There's also delicious good old comfort food like a grilled cheese and roasted tomato sandwich, or egg salad, or a turkey burger. I highly recommend the turkey meatballs, which I combined with authentic couscous and a gorgeous salad. You can order some items separately for only 35 pesos each, or do a combo plate of 3 items for 85 pesos, 4 items for 100. There's a different soup and vegetable every day, and a lentil salad, as well as a salad Nicoise.
Besides the daily blended juices, there is a lovely selection of really interesting teas....either hot or cold. She even sells little boxes of the elegant flower blossom teas...buds that open up in water, which I have only seen in China before.
This is the perfect little place to pop in any time, Tuesday- Saturday, 9:30am-3:30pm, to see what magic Rima might have up her sleeve that day. I look forward to going back very often.
