“Quiet, great host, really different and secluded”
Reviewed June 4, 2013

Perfect for groups or singles. Out of the hustle and bustle of town so quiet and secluded but town is 5 minutes away. Really great amenities and grounds. Layed back atmosphere. I recommend to all my friends.

Room Tip: All rooms have access to kitchens

We booked a last minute trip to Todos Santos and did not really shop around for a place to stay, but we were blown away with Casa Rancho! We spent a full week living on this beautiful property and loved every second of it.

The accomodations are simple, but all you need in Baja. Stunning sunset views, comfortable private rooms, and the kitchen was so much fun! We cooked most of our meals from local ingredients (we did most of our grocery shopping in Cabo and just bought a few things in town, but you could get everything you need in Todos Santos) and enjoyed eating them on the patio.

The Rancho is about a mile from the beach, but note that it is not a swimmable beach. HUGE waves. Worth checking out, but you will want a car to get to Las Palmas and Cerritos for swimming. I would recommend arriving during daylight as the dirt road directions are a little out of town and without street lights, could be challenging to find in the dark.

There are two new resident dogs at the Rancho. Very well behaved and friendly. They came with us on a beach walk and were fun to have around.

We will be back!

Room Tip: Note that rooms do not have A/C but we were very comfortable. Alec provides drinking water on site b...

If you are looking for a hotel with designer sheets, all kinds of restaurants, spa and services etc., this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a low key, friendly, laid back, out of the way, rustic Mexican feeling , this is DEFINITELY the place. There is no television, although there are dvds, if you choose to watch them in the other(shared) kitchen/iving area. My husband and I spent a month here in January, and loved every minute. The pool was a lovely treat. The upper decks with views of the countryside and the ocean, were just the place to have a glass of wine and to watch the stunning sunsets. At night, you could hear the pounding of the surf , and the view of the stars is spectacular! We rented the two bedroom Octolapa unit ( since we had friends coming to stay with us at different times) which gave us the exclusive use of the octagonal kitchen/dining room/living room. It was well equipped, and Alec and Monica( the owners) brought new glassware to stock it even more fully, while we were there. The pots and pans were well-used, but we honestly didn't cook that often, since there were so many good restaurants in town!

Be aware that you need a car to stay here, if you plan to visit town often. It is a ten minute drive over VERY bumpy roads, but we actually found that part of the charm.........call us crazy! This is life in the real Mexico!!! We were in Todos Santos for the Music Festival, and enjoyed the quiet and the relaxation, after a few nights of rock and rollin"! Alec and Monica are wonderful hosts and we are looking forward to seeing them again next year! If I had a wish list for our next visit, it would be better lighting in the octolapa, for nighttime reading, dressers for clothing, rather than shelving units, and new patio furniture .....but none of that would prevent us from going back!!

Room Tip: There is no fitness centre....

Spent an incredibly relaxing week at Casa Rancho. Really nice set up and the pool was perfect! Alec did a great job building and furnishing the place. Town is 4 minutes away but you are far enough that the only sounds you hear at night are the bullfrogs and crickets.....

Just back from Casa Rancho! Loved this place. The owner Alec is a great guy and very hospitable. The place has very comfortable beds and very relaxing atmosphere. Close to down town Todos Santos. Other places that are a must if you visit is Aloha Massage - Diana gave the best deep tissue massage i've ever had, and Cafe Felix is a great place for breakfast with WIFI if you need it. Casa Rancho is a great place to unwind and de-stress.

Just want to share what a specially great time we spent at Casa Rancho in the month of August. 20 years ago: i would have been bored stilff with so little going on (no TV, no radio, no WiFi). But now, it was fabulous. This is what it means to really get away and relax. The unexpected presence of the pool really made it super pleasant and special because it was hot. I grew up in a ranch style type of environment and this place brought back memories: horses just wondering about the nieghborhood unattended, roosters crowing in the mornings, and the total absence of 'city noise'. The presence of naturally developed 'speed bumps' didn't allow for any type of fast driving (dirt roads all around the place) or unnecessary driving.

In addition, Alec was totally a great 'host'. He was around, but gave us plenty of space. We were the only ones there. He gave us great advice and recommendations, even for our trip to La Paz (where to eat, where to stay) as well as what to do in Todos Santos (where to eat, where to shop for groceries). There are some very nice places to eat in Todos Santos, which is a very nice, artsy town. He had items that we could borrow (small ice chest, beach chairs) to use outside of Casa Rancho. It was so nice there, we didn't attempt to do all the things we had planned and chose to just hang out at the rancho.
Thank you, Alec.

We certainly will entertain going back and for sure tell our friends about the place

Room Tip: We stayed in the studio, which had both a kitchen and full bathroom. No A/C, but ceiling fans did t...

Casa Rancho is a bit outside the center of Todos Santos, and that's what makes it an excellent place to stay. The property is on a little hill, has nice and clean rooms, a comunal kitchen, a pool and over all it was very quiet. Rates are accessible throughout different price levels. Alec, the owner, is very helpful and fits totally into the relaxing charme of the property he created with Casa Rancho. He borrowed me one of his bikes and I did two awesome bike tours into the desert. The beach is in about ten minutes distance by bike.
If you don't want to stay in the overpriced center of Todos Santos and you like a nice relaxing stay abroad, Casa Rancho is your place to go and enjoy.
