Landi's is beautifully situated in the Todos Santos Inn in the middle of Todos Santos, Baja, Mexico. Seated in a courtyard patio under the trees, a glowing fire nearby, we were offered soft blankets to cover our laps if we felt chilly. Questions about Mexican wines on the menu were answered well and the menu occupied us for several minutes, making our choices from not an overwhelming number of entries. Just right. Even the "common" guacamole was exceptional and beautifully presented. The fish tamale and chiles rellenos with shrimp were magnificent, subtle and deep in flavor. Flan and a wonder made of mango and cream finished the meal in grand style. Our only quibble was with instant decaffeinated coffee, but we realized early on in this trip that coffee occupies a different role in Baja. No Starbucks here, which may be a good thing. The people were so nice and ready to do whatever it took to make us happy. They succeeded. And all of this was less than half of what it would have cost for such an experience in an American restaurant, if you could find one that understood and prepared Mexican cuisine as fine as this. We will be going back.
