Description: Wonderful location on the shore of the Pacific to enjoy your lunch or dinner. Lunch is being served on the terrace overlooking a freshwater lagoon with an active birdlife. Dinner is offered indoors due to the cooler evenings and some upcoming winds. In Summer, we also serve dinner on the terrace. The terrace is called whale deck due to the wonderful view on passing whales in season (Jan - Mar). We serve day-fresh seafood and well cured prime cuts. Organic salads and vegetables from the region are a must. And we also speak Vegaterian and Vegan. Dinner reservation required.

Lunch on the terrace with an extraordinary view of the hawks, pelicans, frigate birds wheeling overhead and smaller birds in the lagoon and fishing boats out on the Pacific was truly memorable. The food was delicious. We had the tortilla soup, the mixed green salad, and the scallops--all beautifully prepared and really tasty.

Add to that a delightful visit with Jeurg and tour of Lebouche's latest paintings and--wow, what a lunch!

It's a short drive (5-10 minutes) from the center of Todos Santos out to El Gusto! at Posada La Poza, but is absolutely worth it. The view from the sundeck out over the lagoon onto the Pacific is stunning, and the serene atmosphere of the restaurant allows you to really enjoy it. But what really makes this restaurant stand out is the food - the guacamole mousse is smooth and delicious, the fish and meats were perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the side dishes were creative and flavourful. If you're looking for fresh, delicious Mexican food with a high-class twist, this is absolutely the place to go. I would also highly recommend the margaritas, which were made from scratch (not a mix) and were superior to most you can find in Todos Santos.

The other wonderful thing about this restaurant was the owners - each took time to ensure we were enjoying our meal, and to make recommendations on what to order. And as we were leaving, they took the time to ask what we were doing the next day and ended up giving us directions to an incredible beach and boat adventure outside La Paz, which turned out to be one of the best days of our trip.

If you're in Todos Santos, or really anywhere within a few hours drive, this restaurant is not to be missed!!

If you are visiting Cabo San Lucas or San Jose del Cabo, make the trip up to Todos Santos to eat at El Gusto! The restaurant is part of Posada La Poza and is a beautifully decorated and landscaped cluster of rooms overlooking a lagoon that sits right next to the Pacific. Start with drinks on the upstairs patio to watch the sun set then move downstairs to the intimate dining room and settle in for what will probably be one of the tastiest meals of your life. Our pork and snapper were the best we've had anywhere and were complimented by a delicious variety of vegetables. The mousse, which they make when they get a supply of chocolate from their Swiss homeland, was the perfect ending to a memorable evening. The owners, Jurg & Libusche, have created a world-class stop in this tiny town.

We had lunch on the upper deck overlooking the wonderful garden and small hotel owned by a Swiss couple. The food was excellent and we were given a tour of the hotel rooms after lunch. We plan on spending a couple of days at the hotel on our yearly Cabo visit nedxt year. It is difficult to find off the beaten path close to the ocean.Be sure to have directions before going there. Closed on Thursdays..

It's hard to imagine how a Swiss banker and his artist/wife from the Czech Republic found their way to this little corner of the world, but we are truly grateful they are here! You can read about Innkeepers/Chefs Juerg and Libusche Wiesendanger's odyssey on the back of their brochure, but better yet go there in person and let them tell it to you themselves.
El Gusto is the lovely dining room of the Posada La Poza, situated on the most picturesque freshwater lagoon along the shoreline, an oasis within the oasis of Todos Santos. Whether you choose to eat on the rooftop deck or inside one of the only air conditioned dining rooms in the area, you will enjoy the most beautiful sunset view, overlooking the lush tropical gardens.
Every dish is prepared with passion, and artfully presented. As a guest of the hotel there is no reason to ever leave, and as local residents, El Gusto allows us to imagine being in a fine hotel dining room in Europe, where every detail is given the utmost attention.
I love both their Tortilla Soup and Beet Soup. One of my favorite appetizers is the Portobello mushroom sauteed in garlic butter with melted cheese. There are also Smoked Tuna Flautas and Fried Scallops. There's always the fresh catch of the day, served with a sampling of various vegetables. On my last visit I had red snapper served with sweet potatoes, white and green asparagus, a dollop of spinach, some peppers, and flavorful sprouted beans. If you're lucky, there might be rack of lamb on the menu..but you will always find a beef dish, shrimps in garlic and butter or Asian style, chicken grilled or with Mole sauce, or whatever vegetarian extravaganza Juerg might come up with.
You must save room for dessert, though! There is nothing like their little mouse-shaped Swiss chocolate mousse or their traditional Mexican flan....but the choices will drive a dessert lover nuts.....Sabayone, Crepes, homemade Sorbets, even a Banana Split!
I highly recommend this off the beaten path, magical spot for lunch, sunset cocktails, or dinner.
There is a full bar. Appetizers run from 75 -125 pesos, some of which can be served as main courses..Entrees are 140-240 pesos, and desserts from 65-100 pesos.
