Great place to watch the Xolos soccer team play. Currently is under construction having gone from about 15,000 seats to about 25,000 seats over the past 12 months or so. The capacity eventually is supposed to be somewhere around 33,333 people. The lines of sight from sections 1 and 2 are really quite good. The games are a great family event but are frequently sold out ahead of time depending on the team being played. The games over past 2 seasons have been exciting and the atmosphere is much more festive than at games in the USA.
Inside the stadium there is a wide range of food available from vendors at your seat such as Carl's Jr Famous Star or Western Bacon cheeseburgers for 50 pesos about $4, tacos, tortas, candy, chips, and of course the following beers Tecate, Tecate Light, Coors Light, or Corona are 30 pesos for a single bottle or 60 pesos for 2 bottles in a cup which works out to less than $2.50 per 12 oz bottle of beer. Tailgating and consumption of you own alcohol/food is permitted in the parking lot prior to games. Parking for games is 50 pesos per car and on non game days when going to casino or to buy tickets 12 pesos or $1.
Rain is an issue due to construction and resulting mud in some areas especially in the parking lot and entering the stadium. 4 star rating does not apply to rainy days when you need to plan to bring a change of clothes and to wash the mud off your car
The only reason to visit on on game/concert/event days would be to visit the adjoining Casino Caliente offers a wide variety of video games of chance, a sports book, greyhound racing, and a sit down dining restaurant. A nice feature of the casino is one half of the video gaming area is non smoking. I believe this is the largest casino in Tijuana and possibly in all of Baja California Norte state as it is quite large compared to other casinos I have seen in Mexico.
