The valet parking at Komasa is convenient, and then men out front will open the front door of the restaurant for you in a welcoming manner. We sat at one of the teppanyaki grills. Unlike in the United States, there are no combination meals with, say, sesame chicken and New York Steak. The meal does not include soup or salad, but vegetables and fried frice [made with ground beef] are included. The white wine list [I only drink white wine with Japanese food] is mostly from LA Cetto and Santo Tomas [there is one Monte Xanic], so there are no surprises. The icy LA Cetto Chardonnay was properly and promptly served in a silver ice bucket. The waiters Omar and Yoshi were pleasant and efficient. I chose the New York Steak, medium rare, which was a large portion [although several of the pieces were ringed in fat---the fat should all be trimmed off. My friend did not like his shrimp---they looked sad and meager and he said he did not enjoy them The green tea ice cream is refreshing for dessert and unlike at Benihana of Tokyo, you are not run out and banished from the grill if you want to linger over the last spoonfuls of the cooling ice cream.

I was a bit skeptical about eating sushi in Tijuana but when my fiancee took me to Komasa, I was beyond pleasantly surprised. The sushi is fresh and of high quality. My favorite is the Carnaval roll. They also have Beni Hana type tables where you share with others. The chef does an awesome presentation with the food. Try the Tepanyaki, it's so delicious. Also the service is outstanding, there are many servers walking around making sure your order has been taken. You never have to look for a server, they constantly come to check on you. And the price can't be beat, they are very reasonable. My bill is usually $30 or so where here it would be closer to $80 to $100.

This place has the Benihana thing going for it, where you sit at a large table and a chef comes out and cooks all your food in front of you. We ordered the filet and chicken (be sure to ask for white meat if you don't like dark), and they included shrimp, carrots, cauliflower, fried rice and a bunch of other goodies, the hot pepper he makes and soaks in soy sauce is delicious to dip your food into. The sushi is ok, I've been here twice and have not had any upset stomach problems. Ambiance isn't all that great, as it's very bright and metallic and they have sports games on all the televisions most of the time. Service was prompt and professional, a fun diversion from Mexican food if you have to spend time in TJ.
