Visited San Felipe hoping to hire a car. When we realised that there was no car hire in San Felipe it was getting late to hitch hike 75km back to Puertocitos, but Fat Boys came to our rescue and drove us home. Cant believe how great they all are. So helpful, food is good too. Thankyou again. Lovely afternoon enjoying pizza and pina colada,.

My husband and I lived in San Felipe for a year and often met friends at Fat Boys because of its convenient location one block off the Malecon and the Sea of Cortez. Their margaritas are the best in town and their Pizzas are pretty darn good too. They offer free breakfast on Sunday mornings but mornings in this sleepy town doesn't start until 10:00 a.m. We became friends with the owner, Tom, who's originally from Phoenix, Arizona. His bar and restaurant caters to the off-road racing crowd that converges on San Felipe during the Baja 250, 500 and 1000 races every year. During the off season, Tom can be found at Fat Boys knocking down some brewskies with a few locals playing video bowling or watching NFL games on the TV. Your trip will not be complete without having one of Fat Boys famous Margaritas.

They are going to call the large size margharita the "Marilyn-size" soon. I think I'm the only one wh has drank two of them and walked away (don't remember walking away though!) It has great food (free breakfast on Sunday) and the staff are always friendly and willing to teach you some Spanish.

Fatboys Pizza is a funky place serving great affordable food & drink a block off the beach & the Malecon / Sea of Cortez. This is the second year we have eaten here. The place is Tourist trap Funky. The Pizza & other foods are great. The drinks are generous. A Fatboys specialty is the 64 ounce Margarita about ten dollars? My wife and friends struggled to drink it! ( see photo's ). The Pizza, Mexican dishes & breakfasts served Mexican or American / "Gringo" style are good, affordable and generous. It is nice to have a place to take a break from Mexican food. My wife Bobbi ate Shrimp Omelette's two days in a row on our last visit to San Felipe, raving about them both times. She claims the shrimp was "sweeter" than on the Pacific side of Baja. Maybe due to freshness? On recent visits to Fatboys Pizza I ate more traditional Bacon & Eggs, Hashbrowns and toast one day and a Ham & Cheese Omelette, Hashbrowns & Toast along with a side order of Pancakes the next day. Both times great! Also the Fish and Shrimp taco's here are great too. San Felipe is known as the birthplace of the fish taco and almost every restaurant in town serves them. OH! OH! OH! Almost forgot. They have a breakfast Pizza that looks great we will try on our next visit. My wife and I eat a lot of Fish & Shrimp in all its variations and Lobster "Baja style" ( grilled not boiled ) when in San Felipe! The adjacent Sea of Cortez waters are the source for much of Mexico's shrimp and other seafood and is local and fresh. Finding it: On the corner at Avenida Chetumál & Mar de Cortez. (Chetumal Ave & Sea of Cortez) It is only three blocks north of the El Capitan Hotel where we stayed. ( reviewed separately ) A corner location that is great for people watching as you eat and drink in the heart of the action. One last thing. Cash only. Enjoy, we did!
