We booked a room via the Internet for a good price. When we got there, the room had a horrible smell like stinky shoes! We bought some incense and tried to mask the smell. Eventually we found the source - a large area of carpet was soaking wet - whether it was water, or something nastier I don't know! We complained at the desk and were transferred to a much nicer room, without smell. From then on, all was fine. It's a very busy place, the restaurants are acceptable and the shops and vendors right outside the door added the Mexican atmosphere we expected. Seems that many people have found themselves in poorly maintained rooms so perhaps guests should insist on a porter and a room inspection at the time of arrival, rather than just accept the keycard and find the room on your own.

I had heard rumors about the History of the Hotel. But I did not imagine how wonderfully it conserves the Mexican traditional atmosphere. The Mexican service is superb. The Mexican prices are far less than in our Country of the United States. Our 29th anniversary was our best yet.
We are definately celebrating our 30th, our birthdays, and any other excuse to get back down there.
Thanks EVERYONE at the Rosarito Beach Hotel staff

We stayed in a junior suite this weekend and had a wonderful time. However, over $200 a night was WAY too much for this place. The pluses: beautiful beach, nice oceanview, very polite and friendly staff, lots of activities for the kids, relatively inexpensive food, fun kids' pool, clean bathroom. The minuses: Open drainhole in the bathroom, filthy carpet, fire detector hanging from the ceiling, no air conditioning and very tiny windows so the heat was oppressive (even at night when it was cool outside), and, worst of all, NOISE. The music went on right in front of our room all day, which was no big deal. But the music from the club next door kept me up until at least 3 am both nights we were there.

You should know that the free dinner isn't really "free" unless you order from a special section of the menu. Kids only eat free w/a paid adult meal. Parking is additional (not mentioned on the website), but pretty cheap. Finally, and most annoyingly, you have to wear a yellow wristband for your entire stay to "identify" you as a guest. Yuck. Overall, for $100 a night it would have been a good deal. For $200, for that room... wouldn't stay there again.

What a wonderful place. We traveled to Rosarito on 7/26/04, my family actually had reservations at the Corona Plaza Hotel for one week, and stayed one night only and not by choice. That hotel was a nightmare! We drove around and took a chance and hope that the Rosarito Beach Hotel would have a room for us. Thank God we stopped in, cause they did and they let us check-in right away after explaining our situation. We finished off our stay in Rosarito at this Hotel. The staff was great....we parked our car and never moved it again until check-out...there is just to much to do there and everything is walking distance. The food is good and not over priced. My kids 10, 6, & 3 had a blast, there were so many activities for them to keep busy all day, they did not want to leave when it was time to go. The pools are great fun for the kids and the adults. The beach is clean and there's lots of vendors to keep you from getting too hungry, good stuff! The rooms are of good size, and everything is clean, maid service is also great. Our family loved it, can't wait to go back!

This hotel has a big roach problem. If that is not enough the service was non-existent and the rooms are smelly and dirty. This hotel is good if you are drunk the whole time you are there. Otherwise stay away.

I really don't get the positive reviews I have read. Maybe the tequila distorts reality.

I stay at the hotel last week and found it's a very nice place. The food was great. There was a lot of people, but that may be because it's a very large hotel. My children enjoy our time there. At dinner time, I really enjoy the performance of the mexican traditional dancers, a very good show. I'll be back.

My family and I have visited the Rosarito Beach Hotel on three occasions. It is overpriced and in poor condition. The rooms are small and in need of much repair, but we have a great time there! I am looking forward to our next visit in a month, and plan to stay at least a week there. The food is okay, and the service is okay. The location is great and we feel safe staying there. On our last visit we had to change rooms three times because of the leaky air conditioner, but who cares, we ended up having a fun time in the karaoke bar and met lots of nice people. Chill out, relax, and remember you are in Mexico on vacation!
