Just got back from Rancho Leonero! Can't wait to go back. Spent time with my buddies and caught plenty of tuna and rooster fish. I've been coming down to the East Cape fishing every year for 15 years and it's always great. First time staying at Rancho, and it was the best ever! Great hosts, unreal fishing, beautiful accommodations, and BY FAR the best food I've had on the East Cape.....or, for that matter, anywhere in Mexico! The carne asada, the ribs, the guacamole..Great place for a guy's trip, but it's family-friendly and I'm planning on bringing my 9 year old son on the next trip! Great boats and crew. Nice pool and unreal beach just outside my air-conditioned room.Everyone was super friendly. Staff made us feel like family. David

Room Tip: Great room right on the beach. Of course all rooms are about as close to the sand as you could want.

The focus of this small resort is fishing and anyone wishing for a superb angler experience need not look further. The boats, gear and guides are top-notch. Independently owned and managed, a non-Marriot/Sheraton/Hyatt packaged, laundered experience with enough amenities to satisfy the experienced traveler. One hour from airport. Food/beverage services a plus (best French toast in Mexico and ceviche made from your fish superb) and wait staff courteous/helpful. Very clean, no water drinking/shower worries. Beach walks discover free-roaming cattle and wild horses. Good Wifi connects. No tourist junk to buy. Will return.

Super laid back and such a pretty setting. This is an elegant resort but in a very rustic way. If you want the princess plan do not come here. If you want to truly get away from it all, do.

Room Tip: ocean front casitas is the way to go

We have stayed in all of the East Cape resorts over many trips over the last 40 years. This was our first stay at Rancho Leonero in 20 years and after staying there this trip, everyone in our group said "we should have been back much sooner". The resort is in very good condition, the rooms are large, comfortable very clean and the air conditioning worked very well. The food is excellant (people staying at other resorts come here to eat), and the employees are extremely helpful and freindly. If you are there to fish, the resort has fishing boats of all sizes with excellant skippers and deck hands. The boats are equiped with fishing tackle if you chose not to bring your own. The owners and managers are always there to take care of your needs, where other resorts in the area sometimes are unattended. The setting is fabulous, away from the mainstream with one of the best beaches and view in Baja. Scuba diving or snorkleing is also very good straight out in front of Rancho Leonero. Overall it is an A+++ and should not be missed.

This is our second visit to the Ranch , another excellent experience. The staff , fishing and accommodations were great and I think the meals were even better than last trip. If you want a five star hotel with those amenities this is not your place, The Ranch is about as laid back as it comes, if you can imagine the 1950's , this is close. The water was warm , fishing great and the Pacifico was ice cold.

Having passed by the sign for the Rancho Leonardo many times we decided to stop in for a drink and see what this place was all about. If you are a fisherman looking for nice rooms with with a gorgeous view just steps away, this is it. The pool looked very inviting and the bar, restaurant was dark and cool looking in the heat of the day. We were given a quick tour and some of the history by a staff member and all and all had a pleasant time. It is a bit isolated and the road there is a slow one but the end result is a good one. I would make sure I had what I needed before I got there as the stores are a ways away but for a fishing resort for some friends to get together it is perfect.
