Description: Such fusions- primarily fresh, local seafood paired with Japanese and Peruvian accents and ingredients- may seem novel to visitors, un less of course they're familiar with the brillance of Pitahayas Chef Volker Romeike. Romeike's concept is more sophisticated and significantly broader conceptually than that of his contemporaries in the local fine dinning scene. It encompasses cooking styles and traditions that extend from México to China, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippine and Hawaiian Islands.

You get what you pay for at Pitahayas...and it's well worth it. The food and service are exceptional. The restaurant offers a very romantic setting, located next to the beach under a huge palapa. This is an ideal spot for your last night in Cabo, if you looking to splurge a little bit. Get the coconut shrimp appetizer. Its the best I've ever had.

If u want fine dining. Definitely eat here. It was very pricey so make sure u do a timeshare tour and get food vouchers. But it is definitely a must eat!

“Great location, friendly service, so-so food...”
Reviewed December 6, 2012

We have been owners at HDM for over 20 years and have had many delicious meals at Pitahayas.
Last night, we were seriously disappointed. We started with a selection of appetizers served in a bamboo basket. The crab cakes had absolutely no flavor of crab, not a hint. The potstickers were fried or baked and the filling was not very tasty. Lastly, the coconut shrimp--the best in the basket. Dipping sauces were included but it wasn't clear which sauce best complimented each dish.
For entrees, my husband ordered a seafood trilogy, which included salmon ( the best tasting), seared ahi tuna (not too flavorful) and a 3rd fish that left no impression and we have forgotten. I ordered the chicken lettuce wraps, a dish I have enjoyed many times before. This time, however, it was presented in a deep oval bowl, which made assembly of the wraps awkward. Instead of small spicy pieces of chicken, cucumber, carrots, butter lettuce and mint on a plate, it was more like a leftover chicken salad, with large unseasoned chunks of meat, lettuce and some cold rice noodles.
Very disappointing. We didn't bother to order dessert, although that might have been the best part.
On the positive side, the scenery is beautiful and the waiters were wonderful.
In the future, we may consider drinks and appetizers only.

“The food was great but service was not consistent”
Reviewed November 18, 2012

While staying at the Sheraton Hacienda Del mar we dined at Pitahayas twice. The first time we were there we did not enjoy the service, a lot of waiting around to order more drinks or waiting for the check (it was not a busy night either). The food however was very delicious, it was Saturday night and there was a special for a 4 course Asian Tapas for $33pp/usd.

The next time we were there the service was so much better which made it more of an enjoyable experience. There was also a special for a 3 course meal for $39pp/usd; the food again was very good.

I did get a chance to take a look at their regular menu which has many items to choose from. Since this is a 5 Diamond Award Winning restaurant for the past 13 years it's very expensive; so I would recommend dining on the days they offer special menus. I believe they offer this 3 times a week.

“Very disapointing”
Reviewed November 17, 2012 via mobile

This place used to be one of the top places on the corridor. Friends have been there in prior years and raved about it, so we finally decided to try it. What a disappointment! Although the setting is lovely, we were there too late to appreciate the view. Then the waiter brought the menus and told us that they were doing a special which included any appetizer, any entree and any dessert for only $40 US. Given the prices on the menu, this was a real bargain. But then the food came. Both my husband and I ordered the fish of the day, and both were seriously overlooked and dry. It was supposed to come with mixed veggies, but all I got was sautéed peppers. I don't eat peppers. The desserts were good. Also, the service was very indifferent, even though the restaurant wasn't very busy. I am not surprised that this place has fallen so low on the Trip Advisor list. We won't go back.

Thank you for your reviews, we consider all comments as we are for our growth. For many years Pitahayas Restaurant has been the darlings in Los Cabos characterized by authenticity in its dishes and a good service. We expect the restaurant another chance to have a better experience with us.
