“Peaceful and welcoming!”
Reviewed May 25, 2010

I came to Loreto as the base for a sea kayaking trip and decided to stay a little longer after the trip. La Damiana Inn is a big old house converted into an Inn. It is a lovely haven, a quiet, peaceful place with attractive rooms, private bathrooms, very comfortable beds (with blissful pillows! the best so far in Mexico!) a lovely garden to chill out in, with various sitting options, a great semi outdoor kitchen to prepare food/cups of tea/coffee etc. with dining table, a comfortable indoor lounge and dining area........all this is perfect but the best thing about Damiana is Deborah and Gerado! A very lovely couple and great hosts. You can be left alone if you want or be sociable to, its up to you. Some of the best restaraunts in Loreto are a very short walk away, with the best Taco stand in Baja, Mc Lulu´s, just a few steps away across the road. All amenities, including the beach are close by. Loreto is a lovely little town and Damiana the perfect spot to stay. A great stay, I highly recommend this lovely Inn.

This is the ideal stay for a stress-free time in Loreto. Walking distance from restaurants, supermarket, the Sunday market, the marina, the mission. You really don't even need a car, but if you have one, parking is easy. Totally open, friendly environment for cooking or relaxing inside or out. Clean, spacious, quiet rooms with a secure and gracious atmospherre. Next door, Juve and Niki provide scuba and kayaking with amazing patience and flexibility. It's rare to encounter a travel destination where you can be so free of any logistical worries - just step inside and you are at home.

If any of you are traveling south, take my word that La Damiana Inn is mega worth staying at, but it even gets better, I had forgotten my purse at the Inn with money, credit cards, cell phone, camera, etc. The owners of this beautiful place were so kind to make all the arrangements to get everything back to me. Mexicans/Americans, it all doesn't matter where we are from. There are still some very honest and kind people out there!

My boyfriend and I stayed at La Damiana for several different days as we traveled back and forth around the area. Every time we returned, it was such a comfort to know that Debora, Geraldo and Isabella (the dog), would be there to greet us, with free internet, games, coffee, and sooo many wonderful books completely at our disposal. Everyone staying at the Inn seemed happy, contented, and relaxed. Many of the tastiest restaurants are right around the corner, and a great eco-tours company is just across the street. La Damiana is a really special place, created by two wonderful people. Thanks for the great visit!

Deborah and Gerardo (the gracious proprietors) have created for themselves a home, a respite and comfortable place for lodging. All the necessary amenities are available at La Damiana plus extra charm and friendliness.
The Inn is located centrally, close to beaches, shops, restaurants, tourist/adventure info and a beautiful Mission.
What I found really cool is that Deborah and Gerardo know people, experienced locals who will take you hiking, kayaking, snorkeling, scuba diving and such for a fair price. That came in handy for myself and other adventurous guests I met on my stay there.
You get to meet people, have fun, drink beer and play dominoes after dinner in the covered out door kitchen in the middle of a garden! How can you go wrong? Like I said, why did I have to go home? Oh yeah, to save up for my next trip!

My sister, brother and myself stayed at La Damiana Inn on our trip to Loretoand well what can I say. The owners of the inn made us feel right at home. They showed us around Loreto and provided great service. The rooms are very well decorated and air conditioned. Not only is the inn a very cozy place to stay but the owners of the inn treat you like family. I would highly recommend the Damiana Inn to anybody that is planning on taking a trip to Loreto.

The Damiana Inn has been my "go to" hotel in Loreto for the past four years. Before that I bounced around from hotel to hotel . Once I found the Damiana that all changed. Debora and Gerardo, the owners, are wonderful, versatile hosts. Whether hosting my family with two young children, groups of staff from the NGO I work for, or friends on vacation, Deborah has gone out of her way to make sure our stays are comfortable and enjoyable. The ample rooms are cheerily decorated, with large bathrooms. I especially love all the Mexican tile work. There is a large open room where guests are invited to hang out, check their email, or plan their stay. If they are lucky, Gerardo will offer them one of his famous Cappuccino or Banana smoothies. The hotel offers the use of a full kitchen and a nicely landscaped outdoor patio with grill. If you want a hotel where you feel welcome, where you have a private space in a cozy, friendly atmosphere, are just a short walk from Loreto center and the malecon, and all for a very reasonable price, the Damiana is your place.
