OK... in the light of the big hub-bub of not traveling to Mexico... I just had to sit and write my review for Las Cabanas de Loreto. First off you fly from LA to Loreto, no stops... get on the plane and 2 hours later your there. Catch a 15 minute taxi to Paradise... you don't have to worry about your safety or wear silly masks...

Loreto is a small laid back town that has wonderful places to eat, friendly locals and great shops... and best of all it hasn't been discovered by the hordes of tourists. And guess what folks, it's inexpensive.

Las Cabanas is a dream come true... close enough to town that you can walk everywhere or take one of the bikes they provide. It's sparkling clean and Rick and Jill have thought of anything you might need to make your stay more enjoyable, from the all important blender to a bar-b-que for cooking those fish steaks. We were 2 families and took all 4 of the cabanas... we cooked practically every meal in their outdoor kitchen and it was perfect.

What could we improve on? Nothing!!!! Would we go back? In a heartbeat!!! Were we ever concerned about our safety? No, we allowed our 5 teenagers to roam the city day and night without a thought.

Have a great time!!!

On business I stay in many U.S. hotels such as Westins, Marriott’s, Hiltons, etc. and pleasant/secure surroundings with upgraded sleep systems are essential. This family owned - managed facility provides a quality comfortable setting with a home style feel in which to relax and if you need something, they will likely have it or help you acquire it. The grounds are well maintained, beautiful pool area and an outdoor kitchen with an open-pit grill is available for your personal use. When I return to Loreto MX and based on availability, I would definitely stay there again.

The main house, an apartment above the garage, and 4 cabanas all surrounded by a tall wall with a pool, courtyard, and outdoor kitchen in the center. The accomodations were clean. Bottled water was provided in abundance. Our group laid by the pool, made excellent meals in the outdoor kitchen, and rode the provided bicycles all over Loreto. Jil and Les gave excellent suggestions for things to do and places to eat. Our family had an excellent time and I highly recommend Las Cabanas and Loreto for a relaxing vacation.

You know it was a good trip when even after two weeks at home and back into the busy, busy work world, you still have the Mexican MoJo and are still raving about the accomodations and the wonderful proprietors! Four of us gals planned a 50th birthday with our dear friend who had never been south of the border. Not wanting a resort feel, and definitely wanting to rest, regroup, and explore, we chose Las Cabanas. Jill made everything perfect from the get go. Giving valuable suggestions about the flights, the restaurants, where to go, setting up a cooking class and just a multitude of of helpful hints for us. I have recommended Las Cabanas to all my friends and co-workers looking for a special and unique getaway. I know I will be back..........there is lots left to see and I think there might be a bottle or two of Tequila left! Give yourself a treat and book now! Thanks Jill, Rick, Les and Linda! Hope to see you in Leavenworth! Camille

We stayed with Rick and Jill this past January at Las Cabanas. It's right on the Malecon (waterfront). We pulled into the private courtyard to find a hidden oasis . . . everything clean, private, and relaxing! Rick and Jill were wonderful hosts, letting us borrow their beach umbrellas/chairs, books from the library, maps . . . they are not just inn-owners, they're friends. The rooms are more than good-sized. Nice touches everywhere.

If you enjoy a private spot with easy waterfront access, this is your place. I wouldn't even consider going anywhere else. And from their inn, you can walk everywhere in town. We never used the car! Highly recommended.
