“A very comfortable well-located, well-equipped facility”

We were there with our son;s family including two grandchildren ages 5 and almost-3. The pool, warmed, was a major attraction for the kids. Casa Grande is within easy walking distance of the historic center and lots of good restaurants. We were there during Carnaval so a couple of nights were noisy from the celebration on the malecon, two blocks away by the beach, but normally it was a very quiet neighborhood.

If you want the whole small town Mexico experience I highly recommend Casa Grande as a place to stay. Don't be put off by the dirt alley you go down to get there. The grounds inside the Coco Cabanas are beautiful. The pools are well maintained and the owners keep one heated for those of us that travel off season. There is just the right amount of sun and shade if sitting by a pool is your thing. The place is very secure even though gates are kept closed but not locked. Loreto is unlike any other Mexican town we've visited. It is clean, the people are friendly, and food is great (whether choosing to eat in or out). However, if you want to eat in bring some basic cooking amenities because the kitchen is basically bare. I travel with my VRBO cooking set so I have no complaints. We rented a car just down the street so the attached garage is a real treat. Hope if you get to Loreto you have the chance to stay in such a beautiful place.

“Casa Grande was perfect for our stay in Loreto”

My husband and I and our young adult daughter and her boyfriend just returned from a wonderful week at Casa Grande. There was a lot of space for four people with a large open top floor with kitchen, dining room and living room and double doors opening to a large patio facing the Sea of Cortez. The location was ideal in that we were a couple of blocks from the malecon and a few blocks from town center. We opted not to have a car and walked the several blocks to Ley grocery store. We liked being in a neighborhood and hearing the roosters, dogs, and radio (they never woke us up). We didn't need the air conditioning as the temps were in the 70s and we prefer to just open the windows but we did note that there are modern AC units in each room which is a nice feature. Beds were very comfortable though the bedding could be upgrade from microfiber sheets and polyester comforter to something more suited for a tropical climate, like cotton.

Everything was very clean and the owner's instructions were all spot on (how to replace water containers, internet, etc.). The owner had mentioned that the kitchen could be a little better equipped which is true. We cooked five of seven dinners and managed okay. There were only 3 soup/cereal bowls so we had to purchase one so we could all eat sopa de lima and pozole. Having access to the gas grill was wonderful and we had a fabulous dinner of blue shrimp that we purchased at the Sunday market and fresh veggies. It would be great if the owner could invest in a decent set of knives, a couple of serving bowls, and provide coffee filters since Ley doesn't carry the right kind.

Those are small details, however, and Case Grande was a comfortable and fun retreat. We would go back in a heartbeat.

“Very Enjoyable”

We've just returned from our week in Loreto & Casa Grande. We've been to Loreto before (staying out at Loreto Shores) but wanted accommodations closer to town this time and this proved to be a very convenient location-- in fact we went without a rental car until the weekend when we wanted to snorkel tour up & down the coast.

Everything shown in the house description & pictures is accurate; however, I should mention that the upstairs bed-area (with 2 twins) is with only a curtain separating it from the kitchen, dining & living areas. (Fortunately, in our case, the couple staying there appreciated the early vacating of the top floor by others.) This is probably more appropriate space for children (?) or at least individuals who are not disturbed by less privacy and no shower of their own.

The house (half of a duplex) is close to shopping areas and the harbor (& malecon-- a seafront sidewalk) area of Loreto. So, if fishing, kayaking or diving/snorkeling are part of your planned activities, the location is **very** convenient. Although not specifically part of the Coco Cabanyas resort, guests have access to all of its amenities (pools, grills, housekeeping (if desired)). A private garage is available-- and handy for loading up gear for outings; the garage also houses the laundry facilities (so those are not shared with other resort guests).

Internet reception was a little sketchy at times-- slow page loading and sometimes showing no service-- but email seemed to come through without too much delay in spite. Just don't count on document or music downloads while here. (You're here to get away from all of that, right??)

Kitchen includes all of the stated appliances, including blender & toaster; however, it is a little skimpy on serving dishes and bakeware. Table service for 8 meant that our group of 6 had to run dishwasher more often that we would ordinarily have-- but I have commented to owner and this may result is some updates. I might add that the owner, Barrett S, was available by email and responded very promptly to questions or concerns during our stay (and even afterward)-- he is/was genuinely interested in our comfort and satisfaction!

Good accommodations can make or break one's satisfaction with their vacation experience and Casa Grande easily met our expectations. The entryway to the house (not pictured) provided a great place to kick off sandals, drop shopping bags & excursion duffles as we entered the house. Because the house is **adjacent** to the resort (and not in it), there is an extra measure of privacy from other resort guests and we felt comfortable leaving our scuba/snorkel equipment out on porch to dry between outings. (A bonus!)

And, a plug about Loreto in general... Alaska Air has direct flights to Loreto from LAX. Coming from rural NE Oregon, this was a plus. We also found restaurants, grocery & gift shopping to be very affordable. (Exchange rate is $13.4 peso:$1 US.)

Casa Grande was a real treat the place is beautiful, very large for a three bedroom the amenities are awesome between the well air conditioned house to the chilled /heated pools to the barbeques, all the pool chairs and lounges as well as being located conveniently to the town and marina one and a half blocks away.
the best part is the people over seeing the place are locals and they know all the best fishing, kayaking, sporting personal in town.
We well always go back and stay at Casa Grande it was a very relaxing experience
Thank you Casa Grande
