“paved road”
Reviewed August 3, 2014

Wonder of wonders the road is paved all the way! There had been some recent washouts but the road crews were already fixing them up. Its a very lovely drive up a green (relatively) canyon. The town itself is set in a picturesque spot - hard not to take perfect postcard photos! There are a couple of taquerias and a small gift shop. Good day trip from Loreto.

“A must see!”
Reviewed July 28, 2014

Be prepared for a winding mountain road that will take you past what I came to see, true Mexico! When you arrive at the Mission listen and note the history of this mission and what the people had to overcome to establish it.
Our guide took us around the mission to show us a 300 year old olive tree that still produces, local farmers and all the history and beauty that is San Javier.
Eat lunch at one of the local family restaurants and enjoy!

“Beautiful place, a must visit when in Loreto.”
Reviewed July 22, 2014

Its on top of the Sierra de la Giganta, West of Loreto, the road is now paved all the way to the mission, take you time and stop along the way to take in the views of the Sea of Cortez to the east. Before arriving at the mission keep an eye on the bottom of the gorge and you might see some turtles in the reservoir just above the mission. also visit the old orchard on the back of the mission, there is an olive tree from more then 300 years ago. During the month of July its mango season so ask a local for some and they will be more than happy to share some with you.

“Great History”
Reviewed July 12, 2014

It is always interesting to read history were it happened. The Mission has a museum next to it that I recommend for every one.

Very photogenic and interesting mission here in Loreto. The ambience and atmosphere takes you back to that time in History! Worth the time to see.
