My husband and I just spent 11 wonderful nights at Coco Cabanas and echo all the excellent reviews. Christmas Eve every single guest gathered on the patio for Tres Leches cake and an evening of getting to know each other. Another night a delightful potluck dinner materialized with everything from appetizers and fruit salad to wine and dessert. It helps to have all those kitchens available! That night we grilled the 40' yellowtail tuna and other fish caught by my husband and two other guests after a day of successful fishing with the incomparable Pedro. The video library was also entertaining. (Bring your favorite VHS tapes, watch them and/or leave them behind if you want.) I can't imagine staying anyplace else in Loreto.

We had just a short time at Coco Cabanas, five nights but what a wonderful time! All the reviews about clean rooms, with fans/air/good showers ect. that work are true, which is nice in itself and not always the case in Baja.

What is also very special is the congeniality of the hosts and the very nature of the layout which tends to promote socializing amongst the guests. Two of our five nights there we had a barbecue/potluck dinner with many of the other guests. The weather wasn't the best but it sure didn't slow this group down!

Pedro proved to be an excellant fishing guide and I easily recommend him as he really works to please his patrons and he knows the hot spots in the area.

I give Coco Cabanas big thumbs up!!!

If you're going to Loreto, Coco Cabanas is the place to stay. My boyfriend and I went for a week. On top of being extremely affordable, it is a really nice cozy place with a great vibe and sense of community. We went on a couple of really great full day fishing trips. If you're interested in going out on a boat - either for fishing or an island tour, definitely go with Pedro (who's just up the street from Coco Cabanas). He will take you on a really fun fishing trip and fillet all the fish for you to take home if you so choose. My favorite part of going out on the boat was seeing the sunrise and watching the sky fill up with color and light as we boated out to our destination. We spent much of the rest of our stay lounging around the pool, cooking our fish at the outdoor grill, and chatting with other travellers. Coco Cabanas is set up perfect for all this. The owners Barrett and Steven are wonderful people. They really care about their guests. And, they made sure we had everything we needed. They have bikes that they rent out which are really convenient for getting around town if you don't have a car. And, the rooms are nice and new and very functional with great air conditioning. On our last night, we had a big dinner feast with the other guests staying there. Some of us took out our guitars and played music. It was a great stay... and if we ever make it back to Loreto, we'll definitely return to Coco Cabanas! (I have to admit when I first saw all the glowing reviews on this site for this place... I was a bit of a disbeliever... but I see why it's gotten such great reviews. Our experience definitely lived up to it all.)

We stayed at the Coco Cabanas for 10 days and I must say that it is definately THE BEST place to stay in Loreto. We had originally stayed in a condo by the Camino Real but were disappointed at the lack of people and just..everything! Plus the food at CR was not great. I looked up the Coco Cabanas on TripAdvisor and after reading all the reviews we decided to pack up camp and move ourselves to this place. From the moment we got there we just felt like this was going to be a great stay. Our cabana was so cute, well appointed (for Loreto), full kitchenette and air conditioning (a MUST!) Carlos, the jack-of-all-trades got us anything we needed for the cabana and also helped us a bit with our Spanish. The pool was a great escape from the heat and there was almost a bit of a family feel because everyone staying there was so nice and welcoming. We really felt at home. It's located about 3 blocks from city center, you can walk there or rent bikes for $5/day. There is a capitan nearby named Pedro (just ask Barrett or Stephen to contact him for you) who will take you out to the other islands. He is pretty reasonably priced and knows English. All I have to say is when we come back to Loreto, I'm definately going to be staying at the Coco Cabanas.

Looking for a relaxing bargain retreat? We spent 10 most relaxing and beautiful days @ Cobo Cabanas. Our hosts Steve and Barrett Scalapino were more than accommodating and hospitable to us. We were welcomed into their "home". The Cabanas were clean, functional, with air conditioning and fans that worked. In addition, our towels were new. The kitchenette was a definite plus along with the giant bbq. And, the pool was cleaned every day. The 8 Coco Cabanas units are set in a circular fashion with pool in the centre that adds to the initimacy and friendliness. We would go back to this wonderful "find" in a heartbeat.
