Great Stay

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Sep 30, 2007
We had a great stay at Coco's Cabanas. The setting is very serene and peaceful and relaxing. It was wonderful to take a refreshing dip in the pool or relax poolside in the afternoon. And when it got just too hot to be outdoors we could retire to our air-conditioned room and watch videos on the TV&VCR. They have a small library of videos and books for the use of the guests. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Each one has a kitchen area with refrigerator/freezer, oven/stove, sink and even a blender. The hotel managers were especially hospitable and extremely accommodating. They really go out of their way to ensure the comfort and convenience of their guests. Highly recommended.

My wife and I stayed in the Coco Cabanas in late August and loved it. Spent my 40th birthday here, and could have not been better. Having Bill (wife was out of town) as the host, made our trip that much more enjoyable. Bill was able to set up our various trips, and they did not disappoint. Took trips with both Pedro, and Francisco. Both are excellent Captains. We were sad to leave, and will definitely be back.

It was our first trip to Loreto. My husband and I had a wonderful time over there.
COCO CABANAS. We enjoyed our stay at Coco Cabanas. Definitely, it is the nicest and quietest place to stay in Loreto, and affordable. The hotel is conveniently located. We were within walking distance of the central plaza, the Mission “Nuestra Senora de Loreto”, the Mission’s Museum, the shops, the Marina, the restaurants, food markets and downtown. We enjoyed walking every night in the malecon after dinner. The relaxed atmosphere, Coco Cabanas offers to the guests, made you feel like home. The pool area is very nice. Beautiful pool surrounding by palm trees, and other tropical plants. The cabanas are very clean and well equipped. The next time we need a place to stay in Loreto, it’ll be at Coco Cabanas. We highly recommend it.
KATHY and BILL, were the most welcoming hosts. They are really nice people. They were able to answer all our questions about Loreto. They gave us ideas about what to do, what to see and where to go. We got a personalized attention from them.
TOWN: Loreto has everything to offer to everyone. It’s a beautiful, safe, and peaceful little town. People in Loreto are all very friendly. You’ll have the opportunity to visit the magnificent Missions build 300 years ago at Baja California by the Jesuits Priests. They are: “Nuestra Senora de Loreto” (in town) and “San Javier Mission” (high up in the mountains). The waters off Loreto are full of sea life, ideal for divers. Carmen Island is a wonderful place for snorkeling and kayaking, as well as Coronado and Donzante Islands. Fishing is FANTASTIC! Wonderful places to stop for lunch and dinner are: “Pachamama Restaurant”, and “Mita’s Reataurant”. Food is excellent!!!!
We rented a pick up for 2 days and drove up to the Bahia Conception. (there are two beaches we recommended; “Requeson Beach”, and “Armenta Beach”) , and also drove to San Javier Mission. It is very interesting place. On half way to the San Javier Mission, we stopped by the “Painting Caves” to enjoy the Indian art.

Don't worry about the dirt road into Coco Cabanas ... it's part of the charm that leads to one of the most comfortable places I could imagine. The setting was peaceful, rooms were comfortable and quiet and the pool area offered a relaxing way to cool off, read a book, snooze or just visit with the small group of neighbors.
We were traveling with good friends but no set itinerary. It was amazing how Bill managed to set us up with great trips on very short notice. He seems to have a wonderful network and working relationships with local people who provide excellent service. The first day fishing with Luis was wonderful and the split day of fishing/snorkleing with Antonio was a kick.
Juan was great on the trip to the mission in the mountains and it was a great experience. Lots to see but long dirt road was a little tiring.
Being able to walk to the marina to watch morning activities, to great restaurants (Mita Gourmet, La Palapa, and that Argentine place), and to shopping was great. Local people along the way were friendly and engaging.
Finally, Bill and Kathy really made a difference. Their kind and gracious nature made it feel even more like a trip to paradise.

This is the only place to stay in Loreto! The cabanas are very clean and quiet and cool--having a kitchen means you are able to keep and cook fresh produce and fish for your meals. I'd recommend arriving on a Thurs or Friday so you can go to the local Saturday market--by 7am--and pick up the best produce available. The stuff in the stores isn't nearly as fresh or great tasting. You must get the bananas and avocados--so sweet! Bill and Kathy are great hosts--they will set you up with fishing --we were the only boat to limit on dorados--they are still pretty scarce this summer--but the bottom fishing is great fun! They will also give you great ideas on where to eat--we never had a bad meal--we liked Mita Gormet, La Palapa and Pancha Mama's--all are near the town center--which is only 4 blocks from the cabanas. I'd recommend not renting a car--we walked everywhere--we just rented a car 1 day to drive up to Mulege and snorkel at the Bay of Conception--it was warm water but not that great of snorkeling. We also snorkeled at Danzante Island--more fish but the water was colder. Still a good trip--set up for us by Bill. I'd recommend the cabanas to everyone heading to Loreto--it was great fun to meet our neighbors and sit by the pool and drink our home made margaritas and salsa!
Take lots of americans $$--small bills--VISA isn't taken at many places and everyone likes dollars.

My Wife and I realy enjoyed our stay at Coco Cabana. We only wish we would have stayed there when we went to Loreto last November. Bill and Cathy are realy nice people and take the time to make sure that we have everything we need to make us confortable. The hotel is conveniently located and alows you to walk to most places in town.

The next time we need a place to stay in Loreto, you can bet it will be at Coco Cabanas.

Thank you Bill and Cathy.

Sincerely,

Ed and Dora Baxter
