“Relax”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 28, 2011

The resort is beautiful. Loreto is a well kept secret. I would go back again. We had a great time. The staff were very friendly and gracious. The service at the restaurant is very slow, but got better as the week progressed. I would love to go back when it is complete.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 19, 2011

My wife & visited Villa Del Palmar Loreto from June 10th-17th. We were not sure what to expect since our 1st visit during construction back in July 2010. We were not disapointed! The resort is in one of the most beautiful settings that one could imagine; water, islands and mountain views. We watched a herd of mountain goats navigate the mountains for 3 days and then disapear. We watched wild burros wander back & forth near the entrance of the resort almost daily. The beautiful flowers and plants around the pool area attract all types of birds to include some very colorful hummingbirds.

Fernando & Alma do a wonderfull job of keeping the guests busy with activities planned through out the day & evening. We enjoyed the salsa dance lessons, chocolate clam fishing, kayaking and movie night (twice). They even served up a bowl of popcorn on movie night!. We missed out on many other activities because we spent a day in Loreto and two days deep sea fishing (world class). Wild Loreto tours is on the property to assist with additional activities. We suggest trying their horseback riding. The tour starts down on the beach and returns to the same spot. It is not a long ride but goes down the beach and up into the mountains to end up where you get a beautiful view of the Sea of Cortez. It takes between 60-90 minutes. Be sure to take a bottle or two of drinks as it is really hot right now. I would suggest wearing long pants also.

The beach is not the prettiest in Mexico but is quiet and does not have anyone trying to hawk their wares to you all day long. I hope that it stays that way forever. It does have a great view though!

Jose "the pool guy" did a good job of keeping the drinks and snacks coming while hanging around the pool and surprised us with a nice going away drink. Many thanks to Jose for making our trip more enjoyable.

If you have a chance, request the Master Chef to make you up some of his lobster pasta. You have to request this dish because it is not on the menu. It is fabulous. We did not get a chance to try their brick oven pizza but heard a lot of positive comments about it. Remember one thing, everything has to be trucked into the resort from long distances so menu prices are not the cheapest you will see. Overall we thought the value was reasonable for the quality.

The resort is well maintained. The pool umbrellas arrived by the 4th day were there and boy they are definetly needed. Beds are better than many resorts in our opinion. The kitchens are well equipped. For grocery shopping it is best to go into town and visit Pescador or Juarez markets. Pescador has the best choices by far, but is the priciest of the two.

Be carefull when exiting the pool as the decking is very slippery. Take footwear for around the pool because the decking is exceptionally hot during the middle of the day. We would also like to see some handrails installed on some of the pool steps to make it easier for people with handicaps or parents with small children to get in and out of the pools. As good as Jose was at catering to our requests around the pool, I would like to see more visits to the pool area by the waitstaff.

In conclusion: VDPL has a long way to go before they have everything up to speed. The gym & spa are probably at least a month away from being completed. Everyday we saw the staff working on different things to make the resort better for the visitors. There is still construction going on but the noise really was minimal. We really enjoyed our visit and look forward to returning next year. BTW: I caught a 140 pound Striped Marlin and my wife caught a 25-30 pound Dorado while fishing :-).

Stayed at the Villa Del Palmar Loreto the first week of June. It was so beautiful there you could not help but relax. The hotel is clean, comfortable and beautiful. There are a ton of activities to keep you busy. The hotel offers a free shuttle to Loreto which is a really great perk if you want to go shop or sight see. The staff are so helpful and friendly I felt like I was with family. Sophia will go out of her way to get you anything you need. Jose runs laps around the pool to bring you drinks and Alma and Fernando will get you involved in all the great activities. This hotel is really a "pearl" in the Villa group. I hope it does not change as it continues to grow. Had an amazing trip.

Stayed at Villa del Palmar in May - approximately 60 units are now open. 2 pricy restaurants are open + room service. The spa & fitness center are still under construction on the back of the property - so not much construction noise in the front resort areas. Completion time for the spa ?? July-August. They haven't yet broken ground for the golf course - probably a year or two out. The road approaching the resort is not yet paved. The resort is located about 20 minutes south of Loreto.
With all that said - what is completed is very, very nice (and new and sparkling). The rooms are spacious - even the junior suite. Large balconies overlook the pool and water. Day trips are available - snorkeling, kayaking, etc. Bosch appliances in the kitchen and kitchionettes (no refrigerator however in the junior suite). Multiple beautiful pools including a hot tub spa that seats 44! For trips into Loreto a complimentary shuttle is available x3 every day if you don't have a rental car. Loreto is a quiet, charming town with fantastic restaurants and good shopping.
The front desk staff are still working out the glitches that happen with any new hotel/resort and they're doing their best. The hospitality was great and the sales pitch low key - but for a glitch free time - wait a few months for them to work out the bugs.

The resort was in a soft opening. There was some issues at first, but after talking to Bob & Paul they handled everything. Paul was outstanding, he made sure we where well taken care of. He made us feel very special. The pool was the coolest, it's shaped like a turtle, all done with 1" tiles - Beautiful!!! The pool bar had the best pizza that I've ever had at a resort. They even put my Tequila shots in a glass full of ice to chill it for me. We really liked Loreto, it was real Mexico! No McDonalds, Burger Kings just great real Mexican food. The Chocolate Clams are to die for. Mita Gourmet,Los Mandiles, Domingo's are just some of great places to eat. The people we met where so nice and helpful. We are looking forward to returning.

This was my second time to Loreto and I loved it even more the second time. We stayed at Villa Del Palmar Loreto as we are timeshare owners. It was incredible! Sophia picked us up at the airport, spoke perfect english and attended to our every wish, she was soo awesome. Lupita and Antonio made sure our trips were arranged, the people from Wild Loreto were stupendous on all our daily trips. The Beach Cabana next to the resort which is part of the resort is so cool, you have to go over there and have some beer and clams, clams were awesome, would not have tried them if Sophia hadn't told me how good they were. Thanks Sophia!

Waiting for the airport shuttle after a magical 4 days. A perfect place to escape cold rainy NW and relax.
About 1 hour from Loreto on its own pristine bay. Very Quiet.
The food was fantastic.
The staff was very friendly. Loved it and can't wait to come back.
