We stayed in the Sonrisa casita which was stocked with all the kitchen equipment that we needed. It was cozy and quiet and every morning Eberhard would swing by and give us advice on what to do that day. He was full of great tips for finding good coffee, a great bakery, deserted beaches, snorkeling trips, or box canyons. He and Renate made the whole stay there so enjoyable and really unique. You wouldn't get this experience if you stayed anywhere else, I'm sure.
We thought we could do La Paz without a car, but that didn't end up being the case. We used one of Eberhard's cars and found the driving around La Paz and to some nearby towns and beaches to be quite easy. Teenagers looking for action probably wouldn't like it here, but for us it was really great!

The hosts are friendly, fascinating, helpful, and over-the-top gracious. We felt welcome and at home from the moment we arrived. The room was clean and comfortable, well worth the very low price we paid. We got marvelous advice about where to go and what to do. I wish we could have stayed longer.
The location is far from the beaten path, very quiet and very secure. I slept better than I have in years.

We researched where to stay when we were going to visit La Paz. Sent out some emails for information. Hacienda Del Sol was the one that sounded just like the type of place we like to stay. And we were not disapointed. The hospitality is out standing. We were only staying one week and had a bit of information on what we wanted to do. Eberhard and Renate
were a wealth of information. Everyday we asked Eberhard where should we go today. Each day he sent us on a different direction as we love to see the scenic parts of the area. He sat down with us the first day and wrote on a map he gave us all the places in down town La Paz that he thought would be of interest to us. And every thing was as he said. We ate pretty much where he said to and we were very happy with the food.

We stayed in the honeymoon cottage (been married for 37 years) but we were honeymooners for that week. The cottage was perfect for us. Private but still near everyone else. There are two pools to swim in. Everything was extreamly clean and the cottage was stocked nicely with dishes and cooking supplies. Could have stayed a month or two or three.......

A terrific vacation and I would recommend Hacienda Del Sol to everybody.

Stayed for 10 days and would echo everyone else's comments Eberhard and Renata make this place special, not to mention the cat and dog, who are equally keen to please! We had a larger cabana with kitchen and living area, all very clean and well equipped, complete with a full bookcase and guitar.

Hacienda is 20mins-ish drive from La Paz, so be prepared for that, the use of one of Eberhard's cars was greatly appreciated. We dived for 7 days with Carey diving in La Paz, also great, really looked after us as divers.

From the monemt I pulled into the parking area and was greeted by Eberhard and Renate and offered a cold beer to the tearful departure a month later, I felt like a member of the family. Their complex has several options in accomodations. They are located north of La Paz city in a small residental area 200 meters from the water--close, but not too close. How did I like it? I'm returning for two months this winter. See www.hacienda-sol.com

We love it at Hacienda del Sol, the cabanas are comfortable and great places for (couples)friends to stay and enjoy' life in paradise'. It's fun to meet all the guests, Doc & Renate's friends & spend evenings enjoying life at a relaxing pace. We love Doc & Renate and consider them great friends. They are "keepers" and we plan to remain good friends for the rest of our lives. We are return visitors & hope to call LaPaz home within the next few years. We know we will need assistance & will count on Eberhard & Renate for advice. Life is what you make of it & as the country song says: "God is Great, (Mexican) Beer is Good & People are Crazy!

PS: Danny says Eberhard is a great old coot, if you don't like him that's your problem!!!

My husband and I recently stayed in the Flor de Jamaica bungalow at Hacienda del Sol. We were making our way over from the mainland to live in Todos Santos, but our home wasn't quite ready yet. So we decided to spend a few days in La Paz. This meant we were traveling with our two Labrador retrievers, and our rabbit. Eberhard and Renate were more than willing to let us bring them along. They welcomed us upon arrival with a cold beer, map, and of course a couple of pats for the dogs and bunny. They were extremely hospitable and gave excellent suggestions on where to find things in La Paz, the best coffee, T-bones, tacos (they were absolutely right about all three) . Eberhard has a wealth of knowledge about the area and was kind enough to share the information with us.

The location was beautiful, very peaceful and not too far from town. We enjoyed many evening bike rides to the water for a swim, followed happily of course by our dogs. The evenings were nice and cool and we never once needed the air conditioner.

We would definitely recommend Hacienda del Sol to anyone, and we ourselves would stay there again. We are happy to say that not only did we have a great time, but we have made fantastic friends in Eberhard and Renate.
