“Nice Resort... but”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 23, 2013

The Beach Club and Pool are nice. I suggest everyone upgrade their rooms, no question upgrade, the standard room is very small. The suites with the bathtub are awkwardly set up, furniture in odd places, lack of drawers, but the extra space indoors and outdoors is great and the views worth it.

The biggest issue we had with this resort was the lack of service and communication! We had small issue after small issue, where does the shuttle to town pick up, what days are the Club House closed, are there other why do we have to get up off the lounge chair and ask for another drink, I was ready to go home after just 4 days. I don’t want to sound lazy but we’d just sailed for a week and wanted to be pampered. The whole experience was lacking, because of the first couple of days I didn’t even bother with the Spa, I sat on the large balcony of our room, sipped wine I bought from the very nice wine store in the Marina and read my book.

We won't stay here again unless we're sailing in and out of the Marina, and then only one night. I think we’d like to be closer to LaPaz a friendly town, great people with wonderful food!
Costa Baja is not close to town, a 120 peso trip, each way; best nearby restaurants are in the Marina, only book the suite and enjoy the endless and incredible views.

PS. we planned on cocktails for our anniversary at the Golf Clubhouse, but that was the only night it was closed, make an effort to get up there; from our brief glimpse the views are stunning.

OH - I just looked through photo's to upload and the only one I had of the room was the one of the dark yellow water that filled the bathtub no matter how long I ran the water, making a bath impossible.

Room Tip: Upgrade your room to a suite!

This is a stunning resort located just outside of town. The rooms are top notch and there are several restaurants and activities within the complex. As much as I enjoyed my stay here i felt it was too far out of town and secluded from the experiences I was looking forward to.

Stayed for 2 nights last month in a sea view room. The taxi journey was short from the bus station where we got dropped off on the ecobaja shuttle from Cabo airport and immediately we were impressed with the look of the Costabaja development. The open airy lobby is lovely and the rooms are modern and well appointed although some may not like the slightly odd glass shower cubicle right in the middle of the room. Service was always friendly with Israel in particular a stand out helpful guy. We ate at the Italian restaurant at the Marina in the evenings and the food was excellent and fairly reasonably priced for a upscale resort - you can charge the bill to your hotel bill which is convenient. We also took and excellent tour to Spiritu Sanctu Island to swim with the sealions with Fun Baja who are also at the marina - all arranged by the hotel. There has clearly been a large investment in the CB development and I hope that it pays off as its in a lovely spot and will certainly be back. Pretty faultless couple of days - only service glitch was terrible service at Hemingways - gave up after 3 attempts to order a drink and went elsewhere. Otherwise a real bargain and worth the 3 hr trip from Cabo.

Amazing area, great property, rooms are awesome. By far the best hotel in La Paz as the gateway to the magnificent Sea of Cortez. Kids friendly too!! Some rooms have great views of the Sea of Cortez. The Costa Baja Marina area offers great dinner options. Steinbecks restaurant in the hotel has a great athmosphere and food is awesome.

This resort is a fair way out of the main centre, but some people might like that. The rooms are really great and to a high international standard. The positioning of the hotel is a little strange, but the environment is nice. The pool is small, but there is a swim up bar if thats your thing.

Breakfast is good, but the rest of the food is fairly ordinary. If you don't want to head into town, stroll around to the marina and there are a few options.

A good place to spend a few days, but you would go crazy if you stayed any longer.

Room Tip: its worth paying a bit extra to get ocean view rooms.

This was our third trip to LaPaz and third time at CostaBaja, which at one time was call the Fiesta Americana. The grounds are gorgeous and the rooms are very nice. It's a bit odd with the enclosed glass shower in the room. The staff are friendly and everything is so clean. It's "off season" and the hotel was very quiet. It was nice to sit an relax by the pool with a good book. The only meal we ate at the hotel was breakfast, very good. We look forward to going back to CostaBaja and to LaPaz. Great combination!

Where do I begin? We had not been to La Paz before but we wanted to try some place new. CostaBaja kept coming up with very positive reviews. So we took a chance and booked 8 nights. I will tell you that my wife was very apprehensive about La Paz. Needless to say by the time we left she was wanting to extend out visit.
We had room 405 (if you go ask for fourth floor) beach view. The room was very good by any standard. Some people do not like the glass shower in the middle of the room. It was different which is why we liked it. The balcony view was spectacular. The evenings were cool enough that we left the sliding door open and listened to the waves breaking gently on the beach. Our room had a small refrigerator. The staff was very attentive and quickly learned your name and of course your drink of preference. I dont recall all of their names but special thanks to Jose, Leopoldo and Israel. The morning breakfast buffet was excellent lots of choices every day. The beach club also had excellent food. We were always so stuffed from breakfast that we would order the octopus appetizer or ceviche and share it for lunch. The restuarants in the Marina are very good, but dont forget to go into La Paz to experience the wonderful restuarants. There is a free shuttle bus or a cab (120 pesos). If you are a golfer there is a Gary Player golf course at the resort worth trying. My wife tried the spa and had very positive reviews.
The CostaBaja is a world class resort and ranks right up there in our top 2 best resorts. Negatives..... I am thinking ok Internet bankwidth could be improved on the beach. Really we had no negatives. We are already planning our next visit to CostaBaja.

Room Tip: Definitely the fourth floor.
