Certainly doesn’t run on a service basis.

Started with being dropped in car park by provided airport pick up and pointed in direction of reception. No assistance offered - it’s a dive resort so luggage predictably heavy!!

First priority was getting balance payment - presented with excess bill to start with. Minimal info on services offered & little knowledge at reception of dive services pre booked.

Rooms badly dated and in need of basic investment - a tool box for a safe (if you have a padlock) - really?! Old uncomfortable beds, dilapidated furniture & hit and miss which lights, sockets etc work.. Not just in one room - met friends here all consistently poor rooms.

Diving at seal colony great - dive service none existent. All DIY as staff watch even smaller ladies struggle getting gear in and off the boats. Lunches DIY bread, cheese, ham, salad etc chucked in a few plates along with some leftover breakfast items.

Restaurant / bar service adequate however laughable that they cannot even stock beer & wine reliably. One evening on arrival they had one six pack of Pacifico available & no more (only other option bud light). Half an hour later a Mexican couple were served two more Pacifico’s. when we questioned they found ten more for our group?!! They ran out of Pacifico every night for four nights only serving a dozen or so on average. Red wine available twice..food average at best.

Bar itself closed for 3 of our 4 nights. Drinks from restaurant.

In need of some direction & management along with investment.

We had a group of 17 people staying at the Club Cantamar where are we did some fabulous diving in the Sea of Cortez, With a dive shop on site that was absolutely fantastic. We had our own boat and all for the dive masters were the most friendly and helpful dive masters That we have experienced on many trips like this. We also did mission work in the town of La Paz, and Club Cantamar service to us in providing shuttles anytime day or night was fantastic as well. The food at the hotel was absolutely fantastic, And all the people that worked there were friendly and always helpful. We will be returning next year for another dive mission trip and we will be staying at Club Cantamar.

A few weeks ago my friend and I came upon Hotel Cantamar by chance, we had rented a car and were traveling around Baja.
We were planning to camp on one of the beaches a few miles up the coast but it was late at night and seemed a bit dodgy for two lone women with no camping facilities like showers etc.
On the way back to La Paz we spotted Hotel Cantamar, next to a ferry site, we thought we would spend one night...and ended up staying 4 nights!
We were sad to leave...Hotel Cantamar turned out to be a real gem.

(Hotel Cantamar is definitely on my list of places to come back to, next time maybe do some diving.)
The hotel is quite a few miles out of La Paz, which was great and away from the hustle and bustle of the town.
We went out on their 'Sea lion' tourist boat the next day, not expecting too much.
It was fantastic...we actually got to swim close up to the sea lions, they come up to you and want to get their bellies rubbed.

Then we went to a really nice beach for lunch, and did some snorkeling afterwards.
I had ordered a vegetarian lunch option, which turned out to be a 'meat dish', but there was still plenty of food for me to have a decent lunch regardless.

On the way back we came across a pod of dolphins, unbelievable! there must have been about 500 dolphins, it was incredible,
and then to top it off we saw a couple of orcas immediately afterwards.

Claudio and Sophia the dive masters from Spain were great in keeping us in the loop since we were the only English speaking guests on board.
They were friendly and approachable not just on the boat, but also around the resort, we shared the bar-barque with them one evening.
Thanks guys for adding nice memories to our trip to Baja. :)

The hotel had kayaks for the guests to use, which we really took advantage of, kayaking and snorkeling for hours in the bays in the area,
where we had fantastic beaches all to ourselves.
Alot of the coral reefs were in pristine condition, although in general I expected to see more sea life, but I guess the diving would be even more spectacular
and rich.

We also looked forward to our breakfast at Cantamar, the staff were all friendly and the food was good, and the breakfast view on the patio was awesome.
I am in love with the Sea of Cortez, and Hotel Cantamar gets 5 stars*****

Room tip: We got the cheaper rooms closer to the ferry, with the bathroom door closed we didn't have any problems with noise at all...

The rooms remind me of Motel 6, the motel is next to a noisy trucking company, and they repeat the same diving spots. The rooms are clean, scuba diving equipment available with helpful diving personnel, and clean restaurant. In the future, will go to Santa Barbara California for scuba diving. The motel is located 30 minutes from the city and their shuttle leaves once in the morning and picks up at 9 pm. The dive spots have been affected from pollution due to lack of vegetation and fish.

Room tip: Had a hard time sleeping due to the noise from the next door trucking company.

The hotel is not really a resort. It's adequately clean. There's a nice small private beach, but the late night party types leave a big mess and the staff doesn't clean up til late. The breakfast was good, and the service was great. We were able to see colourful fish swim by the terrace while we had breakfast.
It's far from town and there's nowhere to walk. There's not even a convenience store nearby and the hotel restaurant/bar closes early. The staff helped us get rides into town, but returns from town are not convenient, so we took taxis. There's not much Uber available and the taxis are expensive.
Good breakfast, lunch not very good.
Good view of the ocean!

Room tip: ask for an upper room with a view
